Diamond Select Marvel July 2022 Solicits: Magneto Bust! She-Hulk Kraven Elektra Statues!

It’s almost time to turn the page on another month on the 2022 calendar, which means it’s time again for a fresh batch of Marvel Diamond Select Toys solicitations! And this time out, there’s a spread containing classic and modern characters from a multitude of corners of the 616: a Legends in 3D Magneto bust, Animated She-Hulk statue, and Gallery Kraven & Daredevil Elektra PVC Figures are now up for order!

Marvel Animated She-Hulk Statue Skottie Young Marvel Babies

I was super bummed last month when there was no addition to the Skottie Young Marvel Babies lineup of Statues, but DST has made up for that this month with the surprise drop of one of my absolute favorite characters. Based on a Skottie Young variant cover to a past She-Hulk comic book series, it’s the Marvel Animated She-Hulk statue!

Outfitted in a purple tank top and white athletic shorts, She-Hulk has a humongous smile plastered on her face, representative of her cheerful and jovial personality. The whole design of this statue is just tons of fun, and I look forward to it brightening up my shelf. Limited to 3000 pieces, this 5” statue is $49.99.

DST’s other resin offering in their July 2022 solicitations is anything but friendly and cheerful-looking: the 10” Legends 3D Magneto bust. With a teeth-bared expression reminiscent of Jim Lee’s X-Men #1 cover, Magneto looks filled with righteous anger and fury.

I’ve been surprised by how much space these 1/2 scale (half life-size) save, and I’m happy to see Magneto expanding the X-Men wing of this collection (previously solely represented by Wolverine). Arm-less busts are not my preference, but I appreciate how this line allows value-priced busts on a larger than usual scale. The metallic red and purple paints look great, and I dig the throwback to the most famous X-Men cover in history. Great stuff.

Marvel Gallery Kraven the Hunter PVC Statue

Likewise very classic is the inaugural Marvel Gallery Kraven PVC statue. Diamond Select Toys is slowly building the Sinister Six in Gallery PVC figure form, and I think their 10” Kraven the Hunter is more successful than their recent, awkwardly-posed take on Vulture. He’s got his classic leopard pants, a suitable crouched pose for stalking, and a spear in hand poised to strike.

Even the jungle base with rocky terrain and bamboo thickets looks nicer than the usual Gallery bases. As a whole, I think this is an above-average entry in the lineup for a character who rarely gets any kind of merch beyond an action figure.

Diamond Select Elektra as Daredevil Marvel Gallery Statue

Finally, we’ve got a far-from-classic Marvel Gallery Elektra as Daredevil PVC. This concept is so fresh and recent that I’m genuinely surprised to see it being captured here already.

Elektra has traditionally been a character that doesn’t jive with me, but this All-New Daredevil iteration of her has a super-slick look to it. I’m more likely to wait for a Hasbro Marvel Legends six inch figure of this than to buy a $60 10 inch PVC statue of it, but I applaud DST for being first-to-market with merch for this version of the character.

All four of these items are now up for pre-order and are scheduled for release in Q4 2022. As a reminder, the Skottie Young She-Hulk and the Legends in 3-Dimensions Magneto bust are both strictly limited editions, so you may want to reserve ahead of time if your heart is set on one of them. The Magneto bust is already pre-sold out at BBTS, and I expect other retailers to follow suit.

Do any of this month’s new items from DST strike your fancy, Marvel collectors? Which of these collectibles, if any, May be on -your- wish list?
