Exclusive Marvel Legends Doctor Doom Infamous Iron Man Up for Order!

UPDATE 6/5/2019: It’s been close to two months since they started appearing in stores, so I was beginning to doubt we’d ever see this Walgreens Exclusive “Iron Doom” pop up online at all. But for those still looking for it, rejoice: the Walgreens Exclusive Marvel Legends Infamous Iron Man Doctor Doom figure is now up for order online! For those who already have their own: is this figure worth scooping up?

Marvel Legends Infamous Iron Man Figure Released

ORIGINAL 3/20/2019: Fans have been clamoring for a new Marvel Legends Doctor Doom figure for over half a decade now, and by George, they’re going to get him! Hotly rumored in the run-up to New York Toy Fair 2019 and then announced at the show, an all-new Victor Von Doom is upon us as a Walgreens Exclusive this spring—although not necessarily the version most fans expected. The Marvel Legends Infamous Iron Man Doctor Doom is coming our way in just a few months—and Hasbro has now revealed the official photos of him!

Avengers Marvel Legends Doctor Doom Infamous Iron Man Figure PackagedSome are going to call it a bait and switch, but when Hasbro debuted the All-New All-Different Iron Man mold at HasCon 2017, the writing was on the wall that we would absolutely be seeing that armor tooling reused for an Infamous Iron Man Doom figure in the future.

And almost two years later, the future is now—Marvel Legends Doom Iron Man is coming to Walgreens stores at some point in the next few months! Hasbro revealed official photos of him today, which gives us our first look at the complete load-out of accessories for the figure (as not all of them were displayed at the 2019 Toy Fair).

Marvel Legends Infamous Iron Man Doctor Doom Figures and AccessoriesWe get a generous 9-10 accessories with Infamous Iron Man Dr. Doom (depending upon if you count his cloak as an accessory or part of the costume), which is a really solid amount compared to what most mass release Legends figures come with this year. [Since Hasbro only posted two official photos of Doom today, I’ve supplemented this article with photos of the figure that I took during New York Toy Fair 2019 last month.]

Toy Fair 2019 Hasbro Marvel Legends Infamous Iron Man Doctor Doom 6"The highlight for me is the two pairs of translucent pink energy effects (two “electrical” effects and two “repulsor” effects). This is canonically accurate color-wise, although I know many fans might have preferred blue effects such as those that appeared on many covers for this character. I think the pink really stands out, though—I dig it.

Marvel Legends Iron Man Doctor Doom Figure Toy FairAlong with two pairs of interchangeable hands (fists and open hands), we also get a “handsome” Victor von Doom alternate head. Doom’s unscarred face was a major plot element for this version of the character, so I feel pretty great about Hasbro giving us this extra handsome Doom head (even if I’m not likely to ever display it).

Toy Fair Infamous Iron Man Marvel Legends Doctor Doom FigureThe Walgreens Exclusive Marvel Legends Infamous Iron Man will be available online and in Walgreens stores this spring, although there’s no more specific timetable available for him just yet. I’ll post an update once he’s been spotted for sale both internationally and domestically, although I suspect it’ll be at least a month before we see him in the United States.

I know this version of Doom got a chilly reception when it was announced at NY Toy Fair 2019, but now that you’ve seen him packaged and with all his accessories, has Infamous Iron Man grown on you, Marvel Legends collectors? Will you be scooping this iteration up this year while we wait for the inevitable classic Dr. Doom that we all know must be coming someday?

  1. If they want to sell this version, they have to put it out before a classic Doom or not many people would bite. Smart business move, but it’s annoying to still be waiting for one of the biggest villains in Marvel for so long. I’ve only been collecting them for 3 years now, but you’d think they’d have put out a Doom within 3 years. He’s Doom!

    • Hasbro did make a Marvel Legends classic Dr. Doom. It was produced under the “Epic Heroes” series. Doesn’t that count?

      • That was more than 5 years ago. New collectors have been waiting half a decade for one at retail. 😉

        • I can see Hasbro come out with another classic Dr. Doom under their classic series line. Hopefully, they will go back to the brighter green color from the Ronan series, and include a new extra set of closed fist gauntlets.

        • Hate to say it. But if you’re depending on retail and not getting your collection 100% on ebay your collection isn’t going to grow very much. Been collecting since 2004, I have thousands of Marvel and DC 6 inch figures and 95% of my collection has come from ebay. Otherwise my collection would be closer to 40 or 50.

If retail is how new collectors are building their collection then my advise is; “don’t”.

“But scalpers” pfft. Buy used and buy loose. It ends up being cheaper than new and in package. “But I keep them new in box”. These aren’t Golden Age comics. You’re not going to get rich that way. Unbox them and live a little.

        • Why does it seem like the majority of the collector community is unaware that eBay exists?

    • I agree with you about wanting a real doctor Doom I’ve wanted him especially since I completed the Walgreens fantastic 4 set and I don’t know if putting iron man in doom colors really works for me until I see it but I definitely want the classic one.

  2. I have no ties to this Dr. Doom. I only want a classic look. Even the unmasked head doesn’t look very good. I’m going to hold out for a classic one. This will be an easy pass for me! I’m glad I won’t have to go to multiple Walgreens to search. Move over Medusa, Black Ant Man, and Yellow Daredevil…..you have a new pegwarmer on the shelves.

  3. Easy pass (no offense to fans of this look for Doom). Hopefully this means hasbro will make a classic doom within the next year or two. And on the plus side, this means i probably won’t need to go to Walgreens for the rest of the year, unless they unveil some great new exclusive at SDCC or something.

    • Fyi, Hasbro did make a Marvel Legends classic Dr. Doom. It was produced under the “Epic Heroes” series.

      • I think it was a repaint of the Ronan the Accuser series one. As I recall, it wasn’t a very good figure, and the folds made it look like he had a boner.

        • You’re right. I didn’t realize it until you mentioned it was a repaint. My Epic Heroes Dr. Doom is still sealed, but my Ronan Dr. Doom is opened. I never bothered to remove him from the shell until today, and I was pleasantly surprised that his mask is removable which shows his heavily scarred face/head. You have to pose him with the gun in his right hand, otherwise it would look very unnatural with an exposed trigger finger.

However, I can’t agree with you about the “fold”, although your comment did give me a good chuckle. 🙂

  4. I have the doom they did a few years ago. Quite frankly I’m tired of them recycling the same figures. This is a fresh update for me and I’ll be getting. If you don’t like it, don’t buy it. I don’t understand all the griping people do. Just vote with your wallet.

  5. Anyone have any idea if his hood and cloak are separate pieces so that his head can turn with his hood?

    • They REALLY dropped the ball on this fig. The hood and Masked head are one piece with the cape piece seperate. If you remove the hooded head the cape does NOT have any way of staying on the figure so the unscathed head is basically worthless. The unscarred head also does not fit the classic Doom so it’s really an infuriating figure.

  6. Easy hard pass for me. Even with the inclusion of a new alt head, I can easily skip this version. Here’s hoping this figure gets enough hate backlash to force Hasbro’s hand to give us a proper classic version later on, hopefully next year or so. I’d like the classic version to have bright green colors like his 80’s Secret War and 90’s animated FF show figures had.

  7. As a huge Dr. Doom fan I can say that this is the worst, very lazy. I know he appeared like this but that Epic Heroes Doom sells for big money – the Series 3 Doom is still a great one, but this is just awful (in my opinion). The original costume Doom is the best…

  8. This should’ve been packed in a wave. NOT released as the Walgreens Exclusive Dr Doom, when we’ve been collecting Walgreens exclusives of CLASSIC FF characters for 2 years.

WHAT A SLAP IN THE FACE!! Dumb decision Hasblo!

  9. That’s a damn fine doll. Infamous Iron Man is a fun comic, so I’ll pick it up. Also, I’m sure they’ll release a classic doom someday soon too so it’s not a big deal that this is out first.

  10. I actually went by my local Walgreens on Sunday and found a bunch of these figures in stock. Wasn’t expecting that. So I went ahead and got one. Gotta say, I’m surprised by how much I like this figure. Love the effects pieces. Really nice all around, except one of his fists is kinda loose.

  11. Gotta admit, when i finally got around to visiting my local WG, saw this figure and despite my bad impression back when he was first revealed, in hand i thought he looked pretty cool. Didn’t grab him but if he’s still around the next time WG has an action figure sale, I’ll probably pick him up.

  12. Victor Von is my favorite comic character, period, and while I absolutely love his classic look, his Infamous look is just as badass. If your passing on this fig, your missing out. To many people get hung up on the “classic” look of a character. If it was up to most collectors we have any looks beyond the 90’s. Thank God it’s not.Ever think the MORE that this figure sells, the faster we get that classic Doom, or his Doomwar armor, or Doom 2099? Stop being stingy and make Doom great again!
