Exclusive Marvel Legends Mr. Fantastic & Medusa Figures! SDCC 2017

Hasbro began a new sub-series of Marvel Legends figures earlier this year when they released the first in a series of 6″ Fantastic Four Legends figures exclusive to Walgreens: the Invisible Woman with HERBIE! And while we’re still waiting for the Human Torch to flame into stores and join his sister, we now officially know the next two entries in the line that will be following Johnny Storm: Marvel Legends Mr. Fantastic and… Medusa?!

Walgreens Exclusive Marvel Legends Medusa Figure

Perhaps wanting to manage expectations from collectors, Hasbro wisely decided to kick off the reveals portion of their Hasbro Marvel SDCC 2017 panel with the reveal of a figure that’s a bit less anticipated than others in their Marvel Legends Fantastic Four (pseudo) series: Medusa.

Now, longtime collectors will remember that we got a Marvel Legends Medusa figure as part of the 2014 exclusive San Diego Comic Con box set, but this is no mere repack of that old figure: it’s an updated kitbash with new paint deco and modified tooling. No more high heels for the Queen of the Inhumans! Hallelujah!

Of course, it would have been a mite anticlimactic if we didn’t get to see an actual member of the F4 debut during the presentation as well, so Hasbro revealed a figure we’ve all been expecting–but dying to see anyway–Mr. Fantastic!

Marvel Legends Mr. Fantastic Figure Walgreens ExclusiveThe new Walgreens Exclusive Marvel Legends Mr. Fantastic figure will include both “stretchy” arms and interchangeable “normal” arms so that your Reed Richards figure won’t have to be standing around using his powers aimlessly in day-to-day life (unless you want him to be). This 6″ Mr. Fantastic action figure will also be coming with the “ultimate” weapons–by which, we could only mean The Ultimate Nullifier! Look out, Galactus!

While no Marvel Legends Thing figure was shown during the panel, the Hasbro Marvel team did promise that Ben Grimm would be joining his family… eventually. So while we still have no idea when, at least we know a new Marvel Legends The Thing figure is actually in the works (as if we weren’t all assuming that anyway–heh).

Is the new Medusa Marvel Legends figures a worthwhile update in your opinion, Marvel collectors, or are you going to pass on this exclusive? And how about that Reed Richards: best Mr. Fantastic ever, or do you think he’s more like Mr. Somewhat-Decent?

Exclusive Marvel Legends Mr. Fantastic & Medusa Figures! SDCC 2017 — 17 Comments

  1. Medusa looks good but I’ll pass. I’ve been waiting for Reed for awhile though!!

  2. I already hear that Super Skrull and Silver Surfer are scheduled to be released as Walgreens exclusives too.

With the whole Fantastic Four, Super Skrull and Silver Surfer, one can ONLY assume that a new Doctor Doom MUST also be on the way.

    • I would be really happy with a Silver Surfer too. That’s cool…I didn’t realize the extent of the Walgreens line!

    • Super-skrull would be awesome, the old versions too expensive on ebay for my wallet (cool looking as it is)

  3. I’m just glad they’re moving away from the high heeled feet. Those things were impossible to get positioned.

  4. I still prefer the 2014 SDCC Medusa so I’ll pass. I might get this Mr. Fantastic but I do prefer the elongated body from the Ronan wave and was hoping they would go in that direction again. The taller figure looks sooo much better when posed in a display.

  5. Looking forward to BOTH of these figures! I found the Walgreens Invisible Woman the day it arrived (after weeks of checking the store). The new Reed figure looks great (similar to Dale Eaglesham’s rendition) and the extra arms and ultimate nullifier will be fun. They did great work on the Medusa figure, too! Excellent sculpt with the pose and hair.

  6. Where are the rest of the Attlan Royal family? I want
6″ Gorgon Karnak Triton Maximus the mad and a big baf Lockjaw

    • Give it time! Medusa and Black Bolt are just the beginning–Hasbro loves team-building!

  7. Hope Reed comes with a Valeria or Franklin figure. it`d be nice to complete the whole family.
