I woke up this morning to the terrifying realization that there was no caffeine in the house. Seeking to avert this catastrophe, I decided to do an early-morning Target run, even though I wasn’t on the hunt for anything of the non-caffeinated variety. Luckily, I don’t think I’ve ever been in a Target in my entire life without checking the toy department, so I had to do a quick check–and discovered some figures I didn’t even know were out! The sorta-awaited 4″ Hasbro Avengers Age of Ultron Scarlet Witch, Iron Legion, War Machine and more have now been released!
Well, I’m a liar. Confronted with Avengers AOU All-Stars Wave 2 this morning, I broke down and brought two of these Happy Meal Toys home. Which two? Let’s take a look at the figures…
This series contains six new 3 3/4″ action figures…
Avengers All-Stars Scarlet Witch Figure
I don’t think it will surprise anyone that I grabbed this figure off the shelf at light-speed. This is the only announced Hasbro Scarlet Witch Age of Ultron figure (and likely the only one there ever will be in this outfit).
There was zero chance of me paying 3-5 times the retail price for this Scarlet Witch figure on the aftermarket, but for $5.99 sitting on the front peg? Yeah, I’ll take her. Whether or not this Scarlet Witch 4″ figure turns out to be any good remains to be seen, but at least I got her cheap. Watch for a review later this week!
Hasbro Avengers Age of Ultron War Machine Figure
We’re still not 100% sure that the War Machine armor will even appear in Avengers 2, but War Machine is sure popping up everywhere in the merchandising! From SH Figuarts to Hot Toys to Marvel Legends to Minimates, all our War Machine needs are covered in the Age of Ultron toys!
This figure looks basic, but decent. I waffled on picking him up, but ultimately left him on the pegs until I see if he’s actually featured in the movie.
The Ultron 2.0 figure is the only figure that Hasbro double-packed in this Avengers All-Stars Wave 2 case. The other four new figures are one-per-case, with a repacked Iron Man and a Hulk rounding out the case of eight.
As there won’t be a Marvel Legends Ultron figure on the pegs this summer (the Ultron Build-A-Figure doesn’t count), I can’t fault Hasbro for doubling up on Ultron in this case assortment. Good choice.
Much more sculpting detail on this Ultron 2.0 action figure than we usually get in the All-Stars 5POA line. If I end up loving Ultron in the movie, I may be back for this figure.
Hasbro Avengers Age of Ultron Iron Legion Figure
This is the other figure I picked up from this assortment. I’ve got a serious weakness for Iron Legion armor, and since it’s probably going to be a year before we see the Hot Toys Iron Legion figure released, I’ll have to settle for this version (for now).
The description on the back of the packaging seems to indicate that the Iron Legion drones may actually be controlled by Tony Stark/Iron Man and not Ultron in the movie. Hmm. We’ll see.
Avengers All-Stars Loki Figure
The previous All-Stars Loki was tough to snag in stores, so many collectors may be on the hunt for this release.
All of the Hasbro Avengers Age of Ultron All-Stars figures are now available online, although they’re not exactly “cheap” just yet. Hopefully everyone will be able to find these in stores for retail prices within the next few weeks, although I’d definitely anticipate Scarlet Witch being a bit of a toughie to find.
Now that I’ve broken down and picked up a few of these low-priced, five-points-of-articulation Avengers movie figures, is anyone else planning to join the dark side? Are you on the hunt for Scarlet Witch, Iron Legion, or nothing from this Marvel Universe scale Avengers Age of Ultron toy line?
Warmachine MK2 and Rhodey were shown in the latest AoU TV spot, so I think it’s a pretty good bet he actually suits up in the movie.
WarMachine represent,babyBaby! Unh!
I’d get the Scarlet Witch just for the extra Hex effects for the ML version. Since it seems they are using the effects for Dr. Strange and others, it wouldn’t hurt to have more for customs or replacements/supplements.
They won’t fit with the ML version. These are actually a smaller sculpt.
Sorry forgot to add that you might be able to squeeze them on.
If the Hex effects and Ultron fire effect work with ML, I’ll snag a few.
Perhaps the hex effects will work, but the ultron fire blast don’t look compatible with ML. They’re made to fit the fist of 3.75″scale. It appears to be a retooled effect from the old 3.75″Iron Man2 line. What ML figures are you thinking of equipping with these?
I’ll definitely pickup the Scarlett Witch and Ultron, maybe the Iron Legion but I have see how cool they are in the movie. If they make Quicksilver and Vision I’d snag ’em.
Picked up all of them except the Michael Jackson /Loki figure.
Looks like Seth MacFarlane to me 😀
Loki looks like Seth MacFarlane.
“What the deuce! Gigidy-gigidy!”
😀 LoL it does!
That’s right! WarMachine was kicking some serious ultron drone booty! 🙂
“Hey,I didn’t say you could leave!” LOL
@DABID. Never say “never.” LOL 😀
Ps. That’s what you get for picking on my “Happy meal” Toys 😛 Take that! And that,”liar”! Hahaha…
Btw: McDonald’s says leave their clown out of this when clearly it’s a Mickey Mouse operation! 😉 nyuk-nyuk! It is to laugh.)
Picked up Scarlet Witch at Toysrus. I missed the figures the first time I went to the Avengers section. There she was on the back. ..
