Hot Toys Avengers Age of Ultron Cosbaby Series 2! Vision!

Last month, Hot Toys debuted an all-new range of super-deformed bobble-head figures called the Artist Mix Collection. Seeing as how these figures utilize a very similar size and are all super-deformed bobble figures, I assumed that we’d be getting the Avengers Age of Ultron Artist Mix Series instead of an Avengers Age of Ultron Cosbaby line. I assumed wrong. Last week, Hot Toys showed off the first six Avengers Cosbabies, and now they’ve followed up by revealing Series 1.5 and Series 2–including Cosbaby Vision, Black Widow and Hulkbuster Iron Man!

Avengers Age of Ultron Hot Toys Cosbaby Figures Assortment Series 1 1.5 2

When Hot Toys announced the first series of Avengers Age of Ultron Cosbaby figures last week, their selections were met with criticism from a lot of fans. The first series of Cosbaby Avengers Age of Ultron figures is composed of: Captain America, Iron Man Mark 43, Thor, Iron Legion Drone, Ultron Sentry and Ultron Prime Sentry.

This assortment is a remarkably similar lineup to that of the Age of Ultron Arist Mix Series 1, and was also lacking any of the “buzz-worthy” fan-favorite characters like Vision, Hulkbuster Iron Man and Black Widow.

Hot Toys Age of Ultron Cosbaby Figures Series 1Hot Toys must have heard the complaints loud and clear, though, because even though the Avengers Cosbaby Series 1 figures aren’t even up for order yet, they’re revealed another seven figures coming to the line! The one-and-a-half new series announced for the Hot Toys Avengers Age of Ultron Cosbaby lineup are as follows…

Hot Toys Avengers Age of Ultron Cosbaby Series 2 and 1.5Hot Toys Cosbaby Avengers: Age of Ultron Series 1.5:

  • Hulk
  • Hulkbuster Iron Man

Hot Toys Cosbaby Avengers: Age of Ultron Series 2:

  • Ultron Prime
  • War Machine
  • Vision
  • Black Widow
  • Hawkeye

For those unfamiliar with the Hot Toys Cosbabies line, the concept for this series is low-priced (around $10-$12) “recognizable characters in baby form”. No, really. The figures stand about 3 3/4″ tall (the same height as most Funko POP! Vinyls and Marvel Universe figures), and feature a Bobble-Head (as they must to get distributed in countries where Hasbro is the master license holder).

Although they’re still unannounced, we can also see Cosbaby Tony Stark and Iron Man Mark 45 figures lurking in the background (perhaps as exclusive incentives for ordering all the figures in Series 1.5 and Series 2). Of course, perhaps as compelling as who’s included in this toy line is who’s not included…

Avengers Age of Ultron Cosbaby Figures Series 1While these 2.5 series give us the core six Avengers from the movies, plus several iterations of Ultron and our first full-body look at Vision, it’s worth noting that again Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch are being omitted entirely from the lineup. Something smells very fishy about the way that those characters are being merchandised (or rather, not merchandised)–I smell a bait-and-switch of some sort coming in the same manner as the Mandarin from “Iron Man 3”. I guess we’ll see.

Now that we know what is likely the complete lineup for the Avengers Age of Ultron Hot Toys Cosbaby figure line, what do you think of the Avengers Cosbabies, Marvel fans? Are you interested in these chibi, low-priced Avengers movie figures? Or are you satisfied with the bazillion other figure ranges coming out for Age of Ultron this year?

  1. I doubt it’s a bait and switch so much as they have very boring designs and/or Marvel not wanting to spoil that they become Avengers. If you notice, the most recent trailer has them firmly depicted as villains, with Scarlet Witch brainwashing Black Widow and Quicksilver beating up Captain America.

And they don’t really have merchandiseable looks or costumes. That will probably change in the sequel or Civil War but I can’t see the merchandisers getting too excited over some generic teenagers in street clothes.

  2. This is getting out of hand I don’t care what they are wearing hell Nick Fury got as much merchandising as Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, people will buy the full AOU lineup no matter what I just don’t understand the deal here. I have only seen Lego with the full lineup.

  3. Nick Fury at least has SHIELD gear and a trench coat. And the guns make for neat props and accessories that kids love.

Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch don’t have much going for them because they have generic appearances as well as powers that are difficult to replicate as a static action figure. Note that the Scarlet Witch toy Hasbro showed off at Toy Fair basically has some snap on violet energy things and that’s it.

With the Vision you can at least do clear/transparent versions and his design looks really cool and distinctive.

    • Well, Scarlet Witch is fighting alongside the Avengers in a group shot in the latest trailer. I doubt they’re trying to hide their eventual joining of the team. I’m guessing they’re minor characters in the movie and that we’ll see more of them for the next Avengers movie.

    • Again people want the whole lineup !! No matter what they look like the where is scarlet witch and quick silver cry is getting loud and loud. Three Ultrons 5 iron mans and war machine but no SW and QS this is mind blowing.

  4. Iron legion, Tony Stark, Ultron sentry, Ultron sentry prime, just from a business stand point how does it make any sense to make these and not SW and QS ? They believe people would buy three different Ultrons two of which look the same just different eye color, before they got SW & QS really ?
