Hot Toys Potted Groot Figure Exclusive Announced!

You know how Lando Calrissian’s most famous quote (largely due to Star Wars Robot Chicken) is “This deal is getting worse all the time”? Well, today I feel like exclaiming “This deal is getting better all the time!”  This morning, Hot Toys announced that they’re adding an additional bonus accessory to the Sideshow Exclusive Edition Groot & Rocket Raccoon Hot Toys figures that are currently up for pre-order–and it’s a good one! If you’ve seen the Guardians of the Galaxy movie, you know you want it: it’s the Hot Toys Potted Groot Sixth Scale figure!

Hot Toys Exclusive Potted Groot Figure Accessory Sideshow Exclusive

There’s not a whole lot I can say about this Groot in a pot figure without spoiling the events of the Guardians of the Galaxy movie, but suffice it to say, potted Groot is a familiar sight to comic book readers, who know that Groot can be regrown from pieces of himself should anything ever happen to his main body.

In a rare move, Hot Toys is actually going back and adding a sixth scale Potted Groot figure as an extra exclusive item to a Hot Toys product that’s already been up for pre-order for a few weeks: the Hot Toys Groot & Rocket Raccoon sixth scale figure set (the Sideshow Exclusive Edition only–Potted Groot will not be available from any other retailers).

The Potted Groot accessory is just being shown as a shaded in prototype for now, but if there’s one company I have no trepidations about mucking up an important accessory, it’s Hot Toys.

Hot Toys Potted Groot Sixth Scale Accessory Sideshow Exclusive EditionThe Sideshow Exclusive Guardians of the Galaxy Hot Toys Rocket Raccoon and Groot set is currently still available for order, and is expected to be released in March 2015. Considering that the Sideshow Exclusive Hot Toys Star-Lord figure already sold out last week, it won’t be a surprise at all to see Rocket and Groot join Peter Quill in sold-out status quickly–especially now that the beloved Potted Groot figure will be included in the deal as well!

What do you think of Hot Toys sweetening the deal with the exclusive Potted Groot Hot Toys sixth scale figure, Marvel collectors? If you were hesitating on picking up the Hot Toys Guardians of the Galaxy Rocket Raccoon and Groot figures two-pack, does the Potted Groot exclusive item help to push you (and your wallet) over the edge?

Hot Toys Potted Groot Figure Exclusive Announced! — 7 Comments

  1. Where are you seeing that this is a Sideshow-exclusive? The general announcement from Hot Toys said it will be added to all pre-orders.

    • The Hot Toys Rocket Raccoon & Groot set itself is a Sideshow Exclusive release in North America, hence the Potted Groot is also Sideshow exclusive. Since the two-pack is only being distributed in the U.S. through Sideshow, they have it flagged on their website as “Sideshow Exclusive”. The individual release of Hot Toys Groot, available through other U.S. online retailers, won’t include the Dancing Groot in Pot.

    • Actually, I see that the Sideshow website has now removed the “Sideshow Exclusive” icon that was on the Rocket and Groot page two weeks ago when it went up for sale. Apparently, this set may no longer be Sideshow Exclusive…? There’s a precedent I’ve never seen before…

      • Yeah, I had the set (with the extra Groot head sculpt and hands) ordered from another retailer and was trying to ensure that it would also include the Potted Groot. From what I could gather from their FB update, all pre-orders of the set should get the Potted Groot included as an additional bonus accessory. If it was a Sideshow Exclusive, I wanted to get my order switched over to them immediately. Thanks for your reply.

      • So this is getting more complicated. The accessory has been renamed Potted Baby Groot and comes with the Rocket & Groot set at all retailers. However there is now a Potted Groot accessory (as he appeared when held by Rocket) that IS a Sideshow Exclusive. So you get both from Sideshow and just the dancing baby one everywhere else. Hopefully this is the last change.

  2. A 1/6 potted plant groot…is going to be…near to the size of the potted plant Groot included with the Marvel Universe Guardians of the Galaxy team pack. I’m really hoping that the potted plant is just being lumped into the 1/6 category and will actually be a little bigger. A plant is about a foot tall. 1/6 of a foot…2 very tiny sad inches. I’m desperate for clarity on this before making a preorder.

    • It’s a 1/6 scale set… the intent of the accessory is to be movie-accurate, which means it’s small enough for Rocket to hold it and look like he did in the film. Expect it to be around the size you stated. I’m sure a different, cheaper, larger version will be available down the road.
