Hot Toys Scarlet Witch Quicksilver Vision Figures Announced!

After Ultron no-showed Toy Soul 2014 last month and only new versions of old characters were shown at the event, some collectors had trepidations about exactly what the Hot Toys Avengers Age of Ultron sixth scale figure line was going to be composed of. However, today Hot Toys stepped in with a monumental teaser that alleviates those concerns: while we will be getting new Hot Toys Age of Ultron figures of the core six Avengers, Hot Toys Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, Vision and Ultron figures are all confirmed now as well!

Sometimes Hot Toys doesn’t go “all the way” with their various Marvel Movie Masterpiece Series of figures. We didn’t get a Malekith from “Thor: The Dark World” (with good reason), there’s no Hot Toys Robert Redford from “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” (I would have bought him), and the Hot Toys X-Men figure lines are a funny joke where every punchline is “Wolverine” (because every single Hot Toys X-Men figure released has been Wolverine).

But if there was one line that I was confident that Hot Toys wouldn’t err on the side of caution for, it was the Avengers: Age of Ultron Hot Toys figures series. And that certainty appears to have been warranted, as today Hot Toys posted a teaser photo of ten figure stand display bases for the Avengers AoU Hot Toys MMS figures!

It can be a bit hard to make out the names on the bases without straining your eyes, but from the farthest base to the nearest base, they read: Hulk, Scarlet Witch, Iron Man Mark 43, Quicksilver, Captain America, Vision, Thor, Hawkeye, Black Widow and Ultron. And while the base isn’t shown here, we know that the Hot Toys Hulkbuster Iron Man figure is in the works as well, bringing the grand total to a minimum of eleven Hot Toys Avengers 2 figures in development! It’s gonna be an expensive year!

Now that we know that all of the major characters from the movie (barring perhaps Nick Fury and Baron Strucker) will be represented in the Hot Toys Age of Ultron figure lineup, how are you feeling about this line, Marvel collectors? Are you in for the major monetary investment that collecting this line will entail, or is $2500+ worth of Hot Toys Age of Ultron figures over the course of the next year or two too “hot” for you to handle?

  1. So you think Hot Toys passed on making a Malekith figure for good reason, really dude. Sure Malekith was not fleshed out as well on the big screen as I would have liked, but as far as his design and look goes there’s no complaints about that. Do you also think Hot Toys passing on making figures of Heimdall and Lady Sif we’re for a good reason as well, because you’re crazy if you think that man. I’m not saying HT should have made an assembly line of figures from ‘Thor 2’, but making only Thor and Loki was pathetic imo. I am deeply looking forward to these AOU figures which I will be getting.

    • Hot Toys -did- pass on Malekith with good reason, and that reason is that Malekith would not have sold. If villains like the Winter Soldier who are actually popular sit around in warehouses unsold, could you imagine how much stores would have to discount a sixth scale Malekith to get rid of him?

Ideally Hot Toys would make a figure of every major antagonist from the Marvel movies, but Malekith in particular would have cost Hot Toys–and their distributors–tons of money from having to slash prices to get rid of him.

      • Perhaps, Zod has not sold great even though like Malekith his costume has a great design. Villains indeed don’t always sell well, I agree with you on that. Obviously the popularity and anticipation of the villains will dictate how well they do with collectors, now I think we can both agree that villains like Ultron and Thanos will have absolutely no problems selling to the masses. I still would love to see figures of Heimdall and Lady Sif made by Hot Toys.

  2. HT could do so much better with seamless joints… They f*#ked up passing on Malekith.

    • I could not agree with you more that Hot Toys f*#ked up by not making Malekith, his design was badass. Just because he didn’t star in a beloved film doesn’t mean Hot Toys should not have made him, people need to grow up and get pass that s*#t. Hot Toys has made plenty of figures in their time that came from bad movies and I personally don’t think TDW was bad, it just wasn’t great. Still that has nothing to do with rather they should have made Malekith or not, it’s not like the damn film flopped because it made a lot of money.
