Marvel Infinite Series Ant-Man Flying Ant Up for Order!

Up until this week, it had been a month or so since there were new Hasbro Marvel figures released. But recess is over, and Hasbro has declared open season on collectors’ wallets once again! While 20+ Marvel Legends figures went up for sale this week, Hasbro didn’t want to leave their 4″ collectors out in the dust entirely: the Ant-Man & Flying Ant Marvel Infinite Series set is now up for order!

Hasbro Ant-Man Flying Ant Figure Box Set

Of all the movies that have come out in the Marvel Cinematic Universe the past few years, Ant-Man is definitely the one that’s getting shafted the most when it comes to merch. With one movie-based Marvel Legends figure, one LEGO set, two POP Vinyls and a very cool Uncle Milton Ant-Man Ant Farm, there’s not exactly a cornucopia of Ant-Man toys to choose from.

But if you’re a Marvel Universe/Marvel Infinite Series collector, there’s at least one set that Hasbro has developed just for you: the 3 3/4″ scale Flying Ant & Ant-Man figure set!

Hasbro Marvel Infinite Series Ant-Man Action FigureConsidering that Target is charging $12.99 for a single Hasbro 4″ figure these days, $21.99 for a two-pack containing an oversized flying ant and the only movie Ant-Man figure in the 1/20 scale seems like a pretty good deal by today’s standards!

And hey–it doesn’t even look like Hasbro cut corners articulation-wise with this movie Ant-Man figure! While many of this year’s Marvel Infinite Series 4 inch action figures have been cut down to the bare-bones 5 points of articulation, it’s obvious from the photos that this Ant-Man action figure has quite a few more joints that that (including double-jointed knees!).

It’s unfortunately a bit difficult to discern exactly what kind of articulation the Flying Ant figure in this set is going to have, however. The ant’s translucent yellow wings appear to be on ball-joints, as do some of its legs, but I don’t think we’ll know the exact extent of Ant-thony’s flexibility until someone (like me!) gets this figure in-hand and has the opportunity to really play with and photograph it.

I’m definitely bothered by the lack of a movie Yellowjacket figure by Hasbro in the 3 3/4″ or large scale, but I really am pleased with the look of this set and its relatively strong value. And if you must have a Hasbro Yellowjacket figure, there’s always the mini Yellowjacket figurine that’s being packed-in with the Marvel Legends Ant-Man figure that went up for sale earlier this week.

Marvel Infinite Series Ant Man Flying Ant 4 Inch Figure SetThe Marvel Infinite Series Ant-Man & Flying Ant Box Set is now available for order, and is scheduled to ship out by July 1st 2015 (just in time for the possibly-good Ant-Man movie!). I’d assume most stores will be carrying this box set (since it’s the only toys in the 3 3/4″ scale for Ant-Man), but I didn’t feel like waiting to see or hunting, so I just ordered my set online.

What are your thoughts on the sole Ant-Man Marvel Universe scale toys being released to commemorate the movie? Are you in for the Ant-Man & Ant set, waiting to see if the movie is passable, or or not interested in this set whatsoever?

  1. Geez, this thing looks awful. I wish they offered the figure separate from the ant.

  2. This looks great, I’m not sure why they just didn’t stick Yellowjacket in the pack as well. Maybe they did that to keep the price down, which I definitely don’t mind. But I hope they release him later because he has a cool design.

  3. I want one pretty bad but I’m gonna wait for a price drop(fingers crossed).

    • Its $20 dollars Turdy… free shipping at Target.com

Guess you could wait til its on sale for 15.99

      • I know its not too spendy but I’m dropping a ton of money on other figures so I’m trying to control myself a bit.

  4. I’m shocked by the lack of merchandise for Yellowjacket. Someone finally comes up with a Yellowjacket design that doesn’t suck and there’s almost no figures of it!

  5. I really just want the ant-man figure if this is the only offering. Wouldn’t have minded a Hope Van Dyne figure or yellowjacket. Hell, I’d take hank and scott out of costume if they’d put it out. This is pretty disappointing.
