Marvel Legends 2019 X-Men Figures Series Lineup & Photos!

After a long string of announcements and reveals at various cons spread across Europe and North America, we finally know every figure that’s part of what’s traditionally the most popular wave of the year: X-Men Legends! While buzz surrounding the Caliban Build-A-Figure isn’t exactly setting the world on fire, some of the characters in this series are ones fans have been demanding for the last decade and a half (or longer): new Marvel Legends Beast, Gambit and Jim Lee Jubilee figures!

Marvel Legends 2019 X-Men Caliban Series Figures Lineup

It took a good number of cons and events for them all to make their debut, but we finally know all 8 characters that make up the Marvel Legends 2019 X-Men Caliban Series:

  • Gambit (revealed at SDCC 2018)
  • Beast (revealed at MCM London 2018)
  • Jubilee (revealed at NYCC 2018)
  • Forge (revealed at NYCC 2018)
  • Weapon X Wolverine (revealed at Fan Expo Canada 2018)
  • Blink (revealed at SDCC 2018)
  • Skullbuster (revealed at SDCC 2018)
  • Build-A-Figure: Caliban (revealed at NYCC 2018)

Can you say “Loaded”? This is one series that is absolutely filled with star power, with a couple of exceptions.

2018 New York Comic Con Caliban Build-A-Figure RevealedThe powered-up Horseman of Apocalypse Caliban BAF is frankly not a figure that many X-Men fans were demanding. I don’t think he’s necessarily a bad character choice at all, given than we just got new Apocalypse and Archangel figures this year, but he certainly won’t drive sales of the series as the Build-A-Figure the way Juggernaut or Apocalypse did (and maybe not even Warlock).

2019 Marvel Legends Skullbuster Reavers X-Men FigureCaliban will have to settle for being the second least-popular figure in this series, though, as Skullbuster of the Reavers will be hitting discount bins soon enough. Mad props to Hasbro on finding a character to reuse a lot of that Deathlok tooling, but Skullbuster is easily the most obscure (and unwanted) character for any X-Men Marvel Legends assortment thus far. In a series with an unpopular BAF, I can’t see him selling well (at all).

X-Men Marvel Legends 2019 Blink Figure Official PhotoAs far as heroic mutants go, Blink is probably the weakest character in this wave–but I think that illustrates just how crazy strong this lineup is. As the leader of the Exiles and one of the breakout characters from the all-time classic Age of Apocalypse story arc, the first-ever Marvel Legends Blink figure should have no problems selling through. I suspect we won’t be getting one, but an interchangeable short-haired Blink head would really put this figure over the top.

NYCC 2018 Marvel Legends Forge Figure RevealedWhile Forge rarely gets mentioned as anybody’s absolute favorite member of the X-Men, The Maker has been a support character on various X-teams for decades and had a romance with Storm that many fans still want to see rekindled today. While his mutant power itself isn’t visually exciting, I think the headband, Native American styled boots and bionic leg make him look pretty neat. Sales for Marvel Legends Forge ought to be solid (if unspectacular).

Hasbro Marvel Legends Weapon X FigureAnd now we get into the main attractions of the Caliban wave! From Old Man Logan to Tiger Stripe to Brown Costume, Wolverine has been a featured player throughout the Hasbro X-Men Legends dynasty, and the 2019 Marvel Legends X-Men series won’t break that streak. Covered in technology and manly chest hair, Weapon X Wolverine is an action figure that Logan fans have been waiting to see upgraded for a long time.

Marvel Legends Jubilee Jim Lee X-Men Caliban Series FiguresBut speaking of “a long time”, here’s a figure that X-Men Animated Series fans have been waiting over 25 years for (no, really): a Jim Lee Jubilee Marvel Legends figure! Ever since I saw “Night of the Sentinels” back in 1992, this is the Jubilation Lee figure that I’ve been anticipating. Bless you for not only finally giving us the Jubilee figure we’ve all dreamed of, but making it absolutely perfect with bubble gum, removable visor and even the perfect yellow jacket.

Marvel Legends Series 6-inch Beast Figure (X-Men wave)But wait, it gets even bigger than Jubilee somehow! While the Toybiz Beast ML figure satisfied collectors for over 15 years, newer collectors have been demanding a Beast of their own and longtime collectors have been asking for an upgrade–and Hasbro has answered. While everyone assumed Beast would be used as Build-A-Figure bait to sell a whole series, this definitive Hank McCoy figure will actually be single-packed. Incredible.

Marvel Legends Gambit 2019 X-Men Series Figure SDCC 2018Rounding out the Caliban Marvel Legends Series, we’ve got a character that’s almost certainly in the top 5 most popular X-Men ever: Gambit! He’s got his classic bo staff (which we sadly don’t see used very often any more in the comics), an exploding card effects piece accessory, and his iconic Jim Lee costume as featured in the X-Men ’92 cartoon. It will definitely be interesting to see if Gambit, Beast or Weapon X is given the sole double-packed spot in cases of this series, that’s for sure.

2019 Marvel Legends Mystique Figure…And yet, somehow there’s still more! The Walgreens Exclusive Mystique figure will be single-packed and released this winter online and in Walgreens stores. While I personally prefer the black leather costume on the Hasbro Series 3 Mystique figure, I know many fans have been dying for an upgrade to the classic Mystique–and here she is, looking fine! This should be another hit for Walgreens.

Marvel Legends Guardian Alpha Flight FigureOn the Alpha Flight front, we’ll be seeing a new Marvel Legends Guardian in Fall 2019–as part of an unannounced wave of some sort that Hasbro won’t reveal any details regarding just yet. Could it be a second X-Men wave, or even a Wolverine series…?

Marvel Legends Wendigo Build-A-FigureWhatever that series turns out to be, we’ll see a retooled Sasquatch return in that set as a modern Marvel Legends Wendigo Build-A-Figure! The head sculpt on this Wendigo figure is accurate to the comics, but it’s not my jam at all. I’d really like it if there was an alternate head revealed for this later down the road.

Marvel Legends Series 6-inch Deadpool with Scooter VehicleAfter having two waves of his own in 2018, it looks like Deadpool will have to settle for just getting a release in the Riders series for 2019, where he’ll come with his Scooter, plus Dogpool and Squirrelpool (and a Hydra Bob head)! Lots of fun–this is gonna sell swell.

Marvel Legends Professor X Shadow King Figures SetBut of far more interest to most X-Men fans is the other box set shipping alongside the Deadpool scooter–the long-awaited and hotly-demanded Marvel Legends Professor X! He’s got his legendary hoverchair, a blanket (a first for the ML series!), a Cerebro helmet with psychic effects piece, and even a Shadow King head (for the Kingpin Build-A-Figure). This Charles Xavier has been demanded for so, so long–it’s hard to see it doing poorly, “bald guy in a chair” or not.

Marvel Legends Series 6-inch Professor X with Hover Chair Vehicle…And that’s it for the Marvel Legends X-Men 2019 figures that have been announced (so far)! The Riders and Caliban Series should both be up for order online in Winter/Spring 2019, with the Guardian and Wendigo figures arriving in an unknown wave in Fall 2019. Mystique theoretically should arrive early in the year as well, although with Walgreens exclusives it’s always like throwing darts trying to figure out precisely when they’ll hit retail.

What do you think, X-Fans? Is 2019 looking like a blockbuster year for the X-Men where Hasbro will be claiming boatloads of your money, or are you (somehow) passing on most of these selections? What mutants are you hoping to see appear in plastic form in late 2019 and beyond?

Marvel Legends 2019 X-Men Figures Series Lineup & Photos! — 31 Comments

  1. Now I just want Nightcrawler. The other ones on my X-Men short list came out this year or were announced in this wave.

  2. I am beyond excited for Blink!! She’s always been my favourite character from the Age of Apocalypse comics! I’m hoping for an alternate head, too, to more accurately reflect the AoA look (though the one shown does look great for her Exiles look!)

  3. For me, Jubilee, and Professor X are my grail figures. They’ve made every other character in Marvel legends form in their Jim Lee look one way or another. Good or bad, they’ve still been made. Sure, we still need a few updates, and we still need a few other characters, but Jubilee was my favorite as a kid. I WAS the demographic they were aiming for, and it worked, so I tuned in every Saturday morning to watch X-Men, and never found her annoying. Finally having Professor X in his hover chair is also a big one for me. The 90’s were my most enjoyable time reading comics as a kid. So i’ll continue getting any figures that portray any X characters in those costumes. X-Men, X Force, X Factor, Excalibur, Alpha Flight, New Mutants, and Generation X.
Every other figure is sadly lost on me, with few exceptions.

  4. The 2 per case figure also normally don’t come with the BAF piece, so I’m betting Beast will be the 2 per case as he’s pretty heavy in plastic already.

I don’t need that Skullbuster, and I don’t care for the Caliban, but if I’m only 1 piece away from completing the BAF, why not?!? Right?

    • Didn’t Colossus come with a BAF piece? He’s bigger than the Beast. At least he better be!

    • I think Gambit would be another decent option for the 2 per case figure who doesn’t come with a BAF piece.

  5. The Jim Lee goodness abounds in this wave and rounds out the “Blue team” now on to the “Gold team” with Storm, COLOSSUS, Iceman and A new Jean Grey! Oh and don’t forget the classics…FA Storm, Thunderbird, Nightcrawler, Banshee and Colossus.

  6. Out of all of these reveals, it is Mystique that has me THE MOST EXCITED! I’m going to be hunting her down when people start sighting her in stores.
And with all these classic and popular characters being made…I really do hope that it is safe to think and hope that Nightcrawler is going to be remade soon. He is my absolute necessity character!
    💙
As for other characters…Anole, Eyeguy, Quentin, the Cuckoos, and various other “new” characters need some love too!

  7. From the X-men series, just Beast, Weapon X Wolverine, and Forge for me. I wouldn’t take the Caliban build a figure for free, so it’s easy to skip a lot of that wave. After that, Prof X is a must-have, and Mystique and Guardian are more than must-have; they are don’t-get-between-me-and-the-register-when-I’m-buying-them.

  8. I completely disagree with the postings of this. Skull buster all the way (bring on a Buuld a Figure Bonebreaker Down the road.). We get the same old hero’s making up 75-90% of waves. I’ve been asking for Reaver and Maurders at Hasbro San Diego booth for years.

In fact Skullbuster will also be the first I buy a second up to open.

  9. I for one, welcome any and all of the Reavers! We know Lady Deathstrike is getting an update… We may as well get one of the teams she appeared on.

Speaking of; Can we work on Freedom Force next? Avalanche has never gotten a ML either

    • LADY DEATHSTRIKE IS GETTING AN UPDATE TOO!? Where has this been announced/leaked? When is she supposed to come out?
I would LOVE an updated Lady Deathstrike! (Especially if she is in the black leather pant suit look!)

    • Avalanche got a release in the X-Men Classics Wave 3 actually, most people forgot about this series entirely it was so scarce.

  10. Getting the Mystique,Professor X, Beast and Gambit figures. I’ll pass on Jubilee (i was never a fan of hers). I would like to see a Jim Lee storm in white as well as a Classic X-Men Storm in her black attire with the whip and cape and long flowing goddess hair. I’d like to see a CALLISTO figure from the Morlocks to add to my collection of X-Men female vilains. I’d love to recreate her battle with Storm. We need Lady Deathstrike, Callisto, Spiral and more FEMALE VILLAINS. We need Collossus in his classic attire as well as PYRO, AVALANCHE,and did I say STORM and CALLISTO already? lol. We need WARPATH in his classic native red and blue attire. I’d like to see the RED WHIPLADY from the Shiar empire who battled Rogue. We need Nightcrawler, Eric the Red, Li Landra, and an evil White Queen

    • Red whip lady…Hussar is her name. We defiantly need more Imperial guard members! Maybe a Warstar build a figure? Starbolt, Smasher. Manta and Oracle!

  11. Not “everyone” figured the Beast would be a BAF Dabid. Those of us NOT affiliated with the BiB posse, who remembered large characters like Colossus, Omega Red, Cable etc were single carded. And when a BiB member would bring BAF noise up, we would ask “Hank McCoy is only 5’11. Why would that need Build A Figure status, especially in this form where he was never drawn oversized?” That fact of course negates the lame fallback excuse the BiB always fall back on. That being “He’s drawn that way”. Oh, and the single carded figures mentioned? 7’5, 6’11 and 6’8 respectively. All a far cry from the not even 6 foot Beast.

  12. I for one welcome all X-villans!! The Reavers, the Brotherhood (old and New) like Avalanche, Pyro and Destiny…and especially the Maruaders!! I would love figures of Scalphunter (grey crow) Harpoon, Archlight and Vertigo! Oh and a Sinster redo! Heck I’d even be cool with Vanisher, Unus and Mesmero. Fact is they keep making X-men figures they can just take my money!!

  13. Good summary. I plan on getting Prof X, Mystique, and Beast for sure. Most of the rest are ‘maybe’s (which in practice means I’ll probably get most of them), with Guardian, Jubilee,Weapon X, and Blink being my most liked. Neither Caliban nor Wendigo really excites me as a BAF all that much… but then, once i get a few pieces of a BAF its pretty hard for me to avoid the compulsion to complete them.. so I may end up building. Yes, Hasbro, I’m a sucker like that.

I’ll stick up for Skullbuster. Yes, he may well pegwarm but I think he looks cool and would be fun to pose fighting various x-men.

My most wanted at this point is Nightcrawler, I still think there’s a decent chance we see him in 2019… altho knowing Hasbro, it won’t be a classic uniform version lol.

2019 is definitely shaping up to be a banner year for 90s X-fans. I kind of dropped x-comics in the 90s (started back up again with the Grant Morrison run) so I don’t have the same attachment to a lot of these characters that others may have. A lot of great looking figures coming out, for sure.

  14. Guys there are so many characters that have not been done yet… why the fuck are people talking about Nightceawler who has so damn versions..?

    CYBER
    LEGION
    HELLSPAWN
    BLACK TOM
    ROMULUS
    RANDOM
    SUGAR MAN
    PSYCHO MAN
    GARGOYLE
    SUNSPOT
    NOVA
    DRAX
    THE HIGH EVOLUTIONARY
    THE CELESTIALS
    ETERNITY
    DARK BEAST

Common ppl your discussing regular beast an Nightcrawler… why??

    • Maybe because Nightcrawler is an X-men mainstay? Half the characters you named are shotty third and fourth tier characters that many have not heard of. I’m sure they will all have their day but NIGHTCRAWLER is a pretty iconic character.

    • Its an X-Men wave and a bunch of your characters don’t really have much to do with the x-men. I think Legion, Black Tom, and Sunspot would be welcome additions to any x-wave though. Kinda surprised we haven’t gotten Legion already.

      • Also, people like me haven’t been collecting as long and a lot of the older figures are super pricey on eBay and don’t mesh as well with the current Hasbro line.

Also, if they wanted to reuse that Deathlok for parts I think a better use than Skullbuster would have been Maverick. Much bigger character plus goes well with the 90’s motif.

  15. I have been waiting for the Jim Lee version of Jubilee all my kid life now they finally want to produce one. I’ve had all the uncanny version X-men except her. I’m too excited. They should do the whole Alpha Flight team as well. As well as Dark Star and Omega Red!!!

    • I love Darkstar and would love to see the Soviet Super Soldiers made. Big Mutant teddy bear…yes please! I’d also like to see more Defenders like Gargoyle and Devil Slayer.

  16. I couldn’t disagree more strongly about Skullbuster. The Reavers is my second favorite of the X-Men’s villains teams (after the Marauders), and I never thought I’d get them in plastic. Hopefully Skullbuster means we’ll soon see a new Lady Deathstrike, as her Toybiz version was abysmal.

  17. Really wish that Gambit figure came with a boot cut. You need all the agility you can get out of him. Now that we’ve gone X Men crazy again I really wanna see a Nightcrawler, Jim Lee Storm and Jean Grey done and our of the way to make way for all the ripeness that comes with X Men Legends. We need our villains on point. SINISTER w/ Grim Reaper mold. Mojo BAF. Longshot, Nimrod BAF, Legendary Riders Kazarr, Shi’ar Empire, Starjammers, not to mention X Force needs a wave all they’re own (which I would love to see in blister packages).

Ohhhh the sweet and near future 😁
