Marvel Legends Puma & Six-Armed Spider-Man Figures! Lucca 2018!

The trifecta is now complete, as today Hasbro had their third panel at an international convention in under a week—at Lucca Comics & Games 2018! After seemingly accidentally having the final two figures in the Spider-Man Marvel Legends Kingpin Series briefly in the display case at MCM London last week, we were expecting to see that duo officially confirmed today. And now they have been: Marvel Legends Puma and Six-Armed Spider-Man!

Marvel Legends Series 6-inch Puma Figure (Spider-Man wave)

I gotta say: I’m really digging this Hasbro world tour with new figure announcements being spread out across a multitude of conventions. I end up seeing less revealed in person since most of these cons are outside the United States, but I think sharing the love over a longer period of time really helps keep anticipation and hype high. Thumbs up on this initiative, Hasbro!

But all good things come to an end, and today we had what should be the final stop on this year’s circuit: Lucca Comics & Games 2018.

Of the two figures that Hasbro officially announced today at Lucca 2018 in Italy, the 6” Puma Marvel Legends figure is definitely the more interesting character choice. I had to do a little research because I honestly was not sure, but this is the first articulated Puma figure ever!

The Native American superhero (and sometimes villain) Thomas Fireheart can transform into a powerful anthropomorphic cat-like being, and has previously had toys in the HeroClix and Super Hero Squad lines. The 2019 Marvel Legends Puma will definitely be his best representation ever in toy form by a very wide margin.

His figure looks like it borrows a lot of tooling from this year’s Sabretooth, but that’s a great figure, so I’ve got no qualms with the choice.

Marvel Legends Series 6-inch Six Arm Spider-Man Figure (Spider-Man wave)The other (and final) new reveal for the Marvel Legends Spider-Man Kingpin Series is six-arm Spider-Man (from the classic comics and also the 90s Animated Series). There aren’t many memorable iterations of Spidey we don’t have in Legends form at this point, so I wholeheartedly approve of this pick.

Obviously this figure breaks the mold a bit, as it had to be engineered to have six poseable arms instead of two. I applaud Hasbro for giving us something more out-of-the-box like this Spidey, although I am seriously bummed out that his chest articulation seems to be non-existent. If not a ball-jointed upper torso, I would have settled for an ab crunch. Alas.

Lucca Marvel Legends Six Armed Spider-Man and Puma FiguresThe Spider-Man Legends Kingpin Series should be up for order online sometime between December 2018 and February 2019, and should be the first ML wave of the year to hit stores (provided the M’Baku wave arrives before the end of 2018).

And there we have it! The final two entrants in the ML Kingpin Build-A-Figure series, and also what’s almost certainly the final Hasbro Marvel Legends 2019 reveals until New York Toy Fair 2019 in February!

What do you think, Marvel collectors? Now that we know what’s likely to be the full lineup of Hasbro six inch figures for the winter and spring (besides the Avengers 4 movie figures), are you psyched for 2019? What’s your favorite upcoming figure, and what are you planning to skip (if anything)?

  1. I think I will be cherry-picking a lot more in 2019. The next X-Men wave consists of mostly solid choices, but I’m not at all excited for Caliban; skipping the BAF will allow me to forego the couple of figures in the wave that I don’t need (esp. Weapon X). Same goes for the Captain Marvel wave – not that interested in the Kree Sentry.

I’m reserving judgement on the Avengers wave until we know what the BAF is.

The Kingpin wave is going to be really difficult: a highly desirable BAF and mostly lackluster individual figures. Puma here probably looks the best, but I’d want Night Thrasher more, if not by a wide margin. The rest… no real interest. Not really sure how I’m going to get Kingpin at this rate.

Maybe it’s because I’m Canadian, but I’m kinda looking forward to whatever wave Guardian and Wendigo will be in!

At the end of the day? I’d say Beast here is the figure I’m most looking forward to for 2019.

    • I have to agree. The BAFs revealed so far are pretty underwhelming, Kingpin aside (Man-Ape looks good too, but i don’t like regular size figs being BAFs). The Kree Sentry looks too much like a kid’s toy, i have no attachment to Caliban, and Wendigo is too similar to Sasquatch. OTOH it would’ve been tough for hasbro to top 2018. imo, of course.

  2. Dabid, considering how many figures have been released this year, along with the gradual announcements of next year’s waves, would it be possible for you to compile a kind of scorecard page, kind of a 2019 round-up for easy access? Which waves are coming, what’s in them, what the BAFs are, etc? It would really help in planning which waves and/or individual figures to target. Just an idea 🙂

  3. Six-Arm Spidey and Black Cat are the only must-haves in the Kingpin wave for me, except I want Kingpin, so I’ll have to decide between ebaying him or buying the extra figures and trying to flip them at a loss without the BAF piece.

Puma looks great. Really impressed. But I can’t stand the character. Never liked him. Oh well. I look forward to seeing what they do in the 2nd Spidey wave later in the year.

Citizen V is my most anticipated, but anything Thunderbolts would be. It’s my favourite series ever.

  4. So is the webbing engraved or raised? These pictures make it look raised, which I think looks nicer, but pictures from the con make it look engraved. Any ideas or thoughts?
I also agree that any type of articulation on the torso would have been better than nothing. This might force me to try customizing it.

  5. Cannot wait to get my hands on that Puma figure! He’s been on my personal wish-list for awhile now so thankfully Hasbro finally listened to me. The 6-armed Spidey is another pleasant surprise, I just wish they had used the Pizza Spidey body buck instead of the ASM2 one. Oh well, can’t all be perfect.

  6. I like the new figures, but I remember the Marvel Legends where the Apocalypse BAF is literally something like 12 inches tall or the MONO BAC was another favorite plus each set had two truly nice (Chase or Variant) figures. These weren’t a hair color change or hood up or down, one of my favorites was a Logan chase whose face was burnt off! Those figures were bigger than the ones today as wel with plenty of detail and in 2003, a price tag of $8.99. I wish they would move towards the larger BAF’s and I’ve gotten to where I can get a statue for 25-30$ more than a Marvel Legends Figure and they don’t seem to hold their value which I find even more surprising! I suppose I’m just old school and miss the old days , but I’ll definitley be picking up the new archangel and I have the last X-men set which I’m considering letting go if I can get what I have in it out of it! I dig your blog so please keep the updates coming!

  7. Looks like Puma may be using molds from Jackal. I hope so cause he was really articulated and i feel that’ll be necessary for Puma.
