As soon as Amazon posted their exclusive X-Men Legends three-pack before Hasbro even had the opportunity to announce the set during Toy Fair, I was not-so-secretly hoping that the trio of new figures would be on display in the Hasbro showroom so I could get a first-hand view of how they look aside from the fancy official photos on Amazon’s website.
In the past, Hasbro hasn’t displayed some of their ML store exclusives at their Toy Fair events, but luckily, the X-Men Family Matters display was there for me to photograph and check out in-person!
The figure from the set that probably looks the worst in my photos is Quicksilver, but I swear he’s not really as bad as he may appear. The manner in which Hasbro posed Pietro at the show combined with a bit of camera distortion makes his head look oversized for his body, but in person he didn’t seem badly proportioned at all. Blame it on a trick of the camera.
Hasbro hadn’t even begun to hit their stride yet when they released their last 6″ Quicksilver over a decade ago in the Blob Series, and I think this is an obvious upgrade over that figure. I also appreciate that this time out we’re getting the darker blue “underoos” painted on the costume, whereas the previous blue Quicksilver action figure was fully light blue.
My favorite figure from the Amazon exclusive three-pack is definitely the new Scarlet Witch figure. I wouldn’t necessarily call this an “upgrade” to Wanda, but it is a “different” look for her. I hated the high heels on the previous Scarlet Witch action figure that made her near-impossible to dynamically pose without support, so I really appreciate the regular boots on this iteration.
The most obvious difference between this Wanda Maximoff and the previous one Hasbro put out is definitely the portrait, though. Some fans like the simplicity of the Avengers Legends version, but I’m loving the style and beauty of this new head. Gorgeousness!
Finally, we’ve got the first non-exclusive red-costumed Magneto 6″ figure that Hasbro has put out since, well… ever! The Toys R Us exclusive Jubilee Series included a classic Magneto figure several years back, but that figure was shortpacked and ended up costing mucho dollars on the aftermarket, so a new release will be welcomed by many collectors.
I wouldn’t say that this figure is a mandatory upgrade for anyone with the Jubilee Series Magneto, but I do think that this Magnus is looking pretty sweet. Though I’ve long since grown tired of the “cosmic energy” effects pieces, they look pretty sweet with classic Magneto. The unmasked head that came with the Apocalypse Series Marvel NOW Magneto last year is going to also look awesome on this body.
Overall, I think this Family Matters Marvel Legends pack is a solid offering that gives us excellent versions of three iconic characters. While longtime collectors may balk at these as “retreads”, I think many fans lacking these characters are going to love this exclusive. Well-worth the $59.99 MSRP, and I’m looking forward to my own arriving a few months from now. Nice work, Hasbro!
ORIGINAL 2/16/2019: Plot twist!! Though I’m sitting in the Hasbro Toy Fair Media Presentation right now, my phone has been lighting up with alerts unexpectedly for a brand new, totally unannounced exclusive item that’s appeared before Hasbro could even reveal it themselves: the Marvel Legends Magneto, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch 3-Pack is now up for order online!
This set is being dubbed the “Family Matters” 3-Pack, which I suppose is as good a name for it as any. I thought the previous Marvel Legends Scarlet Witch Hasbro did was pretty fantastic, but the ultra-detailed head sculpt on this new Wanda is an amazing upgrade!
More details to follow after the Hasbro Toy Fair event, and I’ll also post in-person photos of all three figures if they’re on-hand in the show room.
The Exclusive 3-Pack is now available to order on Amazon, and is priced at $59.99. Since this is an X-Men product, I think there’s a fair chance that this will sell out during pre-orders.

Ok. Pre-ordered. That was a no-brainer. Three great figures. My only problem with this is how far away release date is.
My Amazon order (w/ free 5-7 day delivery) said an estimated delivery date range some time in early July.

Ummm… Go to Marvel.com; click on comic profile for Scarlet Witch, and read the list of relatives. Magneto is listed as her father.
That is true, but if you read the actual biography, it says in the last paragraph “Recently, the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver encountered the High Evolutionary while on a mission to his Counter-Earth. There, he told them the Maximoffs—and not Magneto—were indeed their true, biological parents, and that their abilities stemmed not from the mutant gene, but from the High Evolutionary’s own genetic tampering when they were infants on Wundagore Mountain.”
Either way, it was just meant as a joke. As much as they’ve retconned it so Magneto isn’t their father, it was established for so many years and there are so many stories based around it that the set still makes sense (although I would have been fine with just Wanda and Pietro). I really wasn’t looking to start an argument.
Oh yeah, I’ve been waiting for Pietro. And that Magneto looks great. I’m happy with the Wanda I already have, but this one looks nice too. Pre-ordered, definitely.
NICE, now I can have my Namor vs. Aquaman AND Quicksilver vs. Flash display. As a DC fan primarily, I’ve been waiting for a new Quicksilver.

I never thought I’d say it, but this Wanda is a 100% skip. Are we sure it’s not Mastermind in drag? The sculpt has NOTHING to do with Wanda. It’s mannishly muscular, the face is ugly enough to stop an eight-day clock, and those sensible man shoes. Sweet Chthon! I’d rather have a well-done repaint of the Toy Biz disaster. I don’t think I’ve ever been more disappointed by a Hasbro Legend. YICK.
I am LOVING this set! ESPECIALLY Scarlet Witch! She looks amazing! The face is far superior to the ones that have come before. Same body as before but without the high heels! Love it! So glad they made this set
Quicksilver really doesn’t look much different to me from previous figures, except for maybe his facial feature.
Magneto doesn’t quite offer anytging new either.
As for Wanda , she’s the only one with noticable changes, but I don’t believe the shiny metalic look on her clothes suit her. I’ll pass.
The Toys R Us one is the last one to have that classic red costume, and it was ridiculously hard to get. I order the set online and they only sent me that crappy Wolverine (the one which I HAD NOT ordered). They were always out of stock online, so I never managed to get any of that series. Their aftermarket prices are ridiculous.
This set looks great…but I do believe Scarlet Witch looks off just a bit. I actually like the Odin BAF wave head better. The helmetless head from Magneto in the black suit from the last X-Men wave would go great on this new Magneto.
I agree. I’ve got a spare Scarlet Witch since I built both BAFs. I’ll see if a head swap will work.

I feel like Hasbro/Marvel is trolling us with this set. I LOVE the royal family SO much and Scarlet Witch is my FAVORITE. I was crushed when they removed the twins out of the family, but just DEVASTATED when they removed them from the Mutant species. The more I wish it was a lie told by the High @%#*!&:} Evolutionary and they are still Mutants and Magneto’s kids, the more the comics separate them. But then…THIS COMES OUT! I swear, trolled. We are being trolled and given false hopes.
But also…why doesn’t Polaris get to be in the family set?!
And, as a side note…um…anyone feeling generous and wanna gift, donate, or just flat out buy this for me? 😅 All these releases are gonna add up too fast!

Yeah. I know. I read the comics. It still crushed me to know they aren’t his kids. But it just sucks the most that they aren’t even Mutants anymore. That’s what kills me.
Yes, me too, but let’s remember this all happened during the time Disney was trying to boycott his own mutants, because Fox had them. But now that they are going back to the fold, well, who knows… Oh and those two specifically were part of the rift because they were used in Age of Ultron, and X-Men DOFP…
Only thing I disagree with in this updated article with new pics from the show is that the unmasked head of Magneto will look great anywhere. To me, that head looks like his hair isn’t attached to it, but is more like he’s wearing a helmet shaped like hair. This release of classic style Magneto gives me extra hope about figures like Doom and Emma Frost getting proper treatment. They released the non classic Magneto look first. We wait a while… and now here’s the proper one. They wouldn’t want to give us the proper look first. Who would buy the other one? Same for Doom. Why put out the proper Doctor Doom first and then have this ridiculous Iron Man Doom collecting dust on the store shelves? Emma Frost… right to her proper all in white look? Nope. Gonna wait for that one until after they’ve sold this other more modern (and stupid) look. At least, that’s what I’m hoping for.
I think its just business. Hasbro knows there are a lot of people who are clamoring for a classic Doom and Frost… they figure if they do a modern version first , in addition to fans of the modern look buying it, a lot of us who would’ve preferred classic will still shell out for the modern version for a variety of reasons – to (at least temporarily) fill a hole in the collection, impatience at wanting to take pics with these characters, a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush, etc…. and then we’ll STILL buy the classic version of the character when it comes out. So Hasbro ends up getting a lot of us to buy 2 figures of a character. If they went with classic first, i think a lot of us wouldn’t bother getting the modern version.. so they only sell 1 figure that way. Obviously these comments don’t apply to all collectors and just represent my 2 cents.
I’d also guess that Marvel pushes for modern versions of characters to be made as a way of encouraging synergy with the comics, and while perhaps they overestimate it, i will say i have bought figs for characters i knew nothing about and that in turn did cause me to go out and look for comic runs/stories featuring those characters. That doesn’t really apply to the likes of Doom or Frost much, though.
I’m VERY happy with this new version of Wanda. She looks just as I first encountered her in Avengers Annual #10. Her head sculpt looks very much like Michael Golden’s artwork in that issue. The previous Scarlet Witch was more akin to Jack Kirby’s style, but this is the Wanda I grew up with. She’s beautiful in my book!

And they arrived! Love every figure here. Magneto is a standout, I’m so glad to finally have a Quicksilver, and I actually prefer this Scarlet Witch to the old one. Plus, they look great with my Polaris. Fantastic set.
Now if Hasbro could just release a Crystal to go with this Quicksilver…
Mine was delivered today. Fortunately they left it in the little box/sleeve so it didn’t get banged around and scratched like other Amazon exclusives ML. The Magneto is pretty cool. I needed a classic one not built around an Iron Man buck because the Toys R Us exclusive one was impossible to obtain.
Mine’s out for delivery right now. Really excited about this one. I have no Quicksilver at all, and I only have the more modern version of Magneto. This classic version was my main motivation for ordering this three-pack.
The 3-pack just showed up on my doorstep today. The capes for Magneto and Scarlet Witch can be a little frustrating to pose around but not really a complaint. The helmet for Magneto is a little tall when you look at it straight on but it looks fine when he’s on a flight stand. These are 3 great figures and awesome addition to any X-men/Avengers collection. I might have to pick up the previous Magneto just to get the extra effects, hands, and unmasked head.
Having them in hand I have to say that this Scarlet Witch head is probably one of the best in the Legends line. Great sculpt, detailing, and paint apps…it looks like it was pulled right off of a comic page. The big hair does take away some of the neck articulation but definitely worth the trade off to get that detail. Great job Hasbro.

A the prime truck just dropped mine off. Really digging this set. Been needing more villains and wasnt too excited on the color scheme of the the Apocalypse baf wave Magneto.
I received mine Yesterday (Saturday 6/22) as well. It was Scheduled for delivery on Sunday but received it a day early!

I got mine today, too. I love all three – honestly pretty much perfect legends figures in my opinion.
No complaints other than maybe toe crunch would have been nice on Quicksilver. Or maybe even just some sort of permanently sculpted “running feet”? You would never have your feet laying flat if you’re in the act of running more than a jog.
This bright blue Quicksilver works great with the previous brighter Scarlet Witch in my Avengers display, but now I’d actually like a single release repaint in the old darker green costume to fit the X-Men set.
Was psyched to recieve them but was totally bummed with the paint flaws on quicksilvers bolt across his chest.
I finally got mine the other day from Amazon and they are awesome but I must admit I like the 2014 or 15 Scarlet Witch better than this one for some reason.
Still loving this 3-pack. Wasn’t bummed to buy it at regular price. Would definitely recommend anyone interested in getting it for a steal price.
