Marvel Legends Monster Venom BAF & Typhoid Mary Revealed!

At New York Toy Fair 2018, Hasbro showed off almost the entirety of this summer’s Venom Marvel Legends series of figures, revealing five of the figures that will comprise the series. They also showed off the packaging for the Venom Legends Series, which revealed that the Build-A-Figure would be something called “Monster Venom”. Speculation ran rampant about what the Monster Venom figure would be, but today, he’s been revealed! And the Marvel Legends Monster Venom BAF isn’t alone–the final figure in the series, Typhoid Mary has now made her debut!

Marvel Legends Monster Venom Build-A-Figure

When the packaging for the wave at the 2018 Toy Fair revealed that we were getting a Monster Venom BAF, I figured that were really only three possible options for what that figure might end up ultimately being:

  1. Mac Garagan Venom (Scorpion Venom) from Thunderbolts
  2. The Madness Venom with Lots of Extra Heads Growing On Him
  3. Some Sort of Venom Movie Figure

I had a hunch that we were most likely going to finally be getting a Thunderbolts Venom out of those options, and that prophecy has now been fulfilled. Looking at the emblem on his chest and the figure’s crazy bulked-out proportions, it’s pretty definitive that this is in fact Mac Gargan during his Venom days.

With Venom being one of the most popular villains in Marvel history and a guaranteed best-seller every time he gets a new toy, I’ve got no issues with a past iteration of the character being selected as the Build-A-Figure for this series at all. In fact, I think this is one of the more fun and visually-impressive BAFs that Hasbro has picked all year! Great stuff, and almost certain to help the Marvel Legends Venom Series be a complete sell-through!

Meanwhile, the final figure in the wave was also revealed today via the Hasbro Pulse Instagram: Marvel Legends Typhoid Mary! The flame effects piece running up her sword has me salivating, and that new corset mold being used on her torso pretty much confirms a new Marvel Legends White Queen Emma Frost figure is in the works as far as I’m concerned.

I’m not sure what the connection is between Typhoid Mary and Venom besides a Venomized Typhoid Mary variant cover to a comic book (fill me in, more expert readers!), and I think that the way her torn fishnets are painted onto her left leg looks downright awful, but otherwise this is one hot figure (no pun intended).

Venom Legends Typhoid Mary FigureThe Venom Marvel Legends Series should be up for order in August/September 2018, leaving plenty of time to saturate shelves before the new Sony movie hits theaters. There’s no official word on the case ratios yet for this wave, but I’d be astonished if it’s anything other than 2 Venom, 2 Carnage, 1 Spider-Ham, 1 Typhoid Mary and 1 Poison. I’ll post an update as soon as pre-orders for the series open up.

Now that we’ve seen the entire wave and its BAF, what say ye, Marvel collectors? Are you on board for collecting the entire wave and building the Marvel Legends Monster Venom Build-A-Figure, or will you be picking and choosing from this series? Which figures are your favorites, and which do you predict will be gathering dust on the shelves (if any)?

Marvel Legends Monster Venom BAF & Typhoid Mary Revealed! — 22 Comments

  1. I know of no connection between Typhoid Mary and Venom, except both were featured in stories in the Marvel Comics Presents anthology book in the 90’s, and their stories ran in the same issues. (Sam Keith was doing a stellar Venom story.) (Granted, I haven’t been reading the main venom book consistently, but to my knowledge she’s not in it.) That said, that TM is amazing, and this wave looks stellar across the board!

    • Typhoid would be a good fit for the Deadpool line. Since Typhoid was not included in the Deadpool wave I think they moved her to the Venom wave.

  2. I like these and gonna PO the whole wave, although i hope Typhoid M comes with an altrrnate ed she seems to happy with this one.

  3. Definitely in for a Carnage upgrade. And I will happily purchase a Spider-Ham, I’ve been a fan since his debut (along with Captain Carrot, the Zoo Crew, and the Justa Lotta Animals, if those guys ring a bell for you).

Might pick up a Typhoid Mary and Venom. Maybe. Typhoid doesn’t look as Typhoid-y as I would’ve expected, and a slightly oversized Eddie Brock head doesn’t make tha Venom automatic for me.

I’m out on Scream and the Poison. No appeal for me at all unless I see them on sale, and then it would only be to complete the Monster Venom IF I’ve already picked up Typhoid and Venom.

    Just my thoughts.

  4. I love Typhoid Mary, but i think putting Shriek in instead would have made more sense. Because honestly how many opportunities are their to make a Shriek figure.

  5. Nice typhoid Mary, with that body mold hopefully we see alot of new females like White Rabbit! am i the only one?

    • *shrug*
I’d say the spider design indicates Mac Gargan, and the head is very Brock, but Gargan technically had a head kinda like that in his biggest form….and the end result looks a lot like the Flash Venom…..
      I dunno.
It’s probably MOST like Gargan, but the others could easily be alternate paintjobs.
We’re definitely gonna need a concrete Brock variant of this figure with the classic spider symbol.

  6. Was only planning to get 2 figs from this series, but they just had to make a Thunderbolts BAF. Guess I’m down for a set now.

And no, I don’t think Venom has ever met Typhoid Mary. Unless she’s in the movie, no reason to have her in this series, but I can’t think of a series she would have fit into any better this year, and I’ll be happy to have her, along with DD, Elektra, Cloak & Dagger from the upcoming SP//DR wave.

  7. Very happy to see Mary, she’s been a top 10 wish lister of mine for years. The Hood and Lady Bullseye, please?

The Venom BAF looks spectacular. With Songbird and Paladin this year, it’s not too much to ask for a Penance, and less likely Swordsman, to complete that pre-Dark Avengers Thunderbolts group.

A suited Norman Osborn is stlll badly needed.

  8. Ugh. Hate that Typhoid Mary except for the sword and the corset. I love the BAF though, so this may be the first time I ignore the entire wave and just buy a BAF online already assembled.

  9. I wasn’t going to buy this WHOLE wave but now, that BAF and T. Mary esp. Yeah, whole wave pre-order for certain!!

  10. That venom looks good I’m in. Am I the only one who wants a venompool baf? I know he hasn’t done much, but I do like the character.

  11. Can you post marvel legends Miss Amercian and Ironheart? pls F*** Villains\

    -Venom vs Repugnus
    -Typhoid Mary vs Iqbaal

  12. will likely pick up a typhoid mary. not a huge symbiote fan so I will likely pass on most of this wave although that BAF is nice!! My wallet will be relieved for a little bit of a break and I am glad that Hasbro makes waves like this for symbiote fans even if they aren’t my cup of tea.
