Marvel Legends Sentinel & Wolverine Exclusive Set 42% Off Today!

UPDATE 12/4/2018: This box set has been so popular that I wasn’t sure at all that this kind of sale would ever actually come, but the Deal of the Day that Sentinel army-builders have been dreaming of has finally arrived–today only, the Marvel Legends Sentinel and Days of Future Past Wolverine set is 42% Off! At this kind of discount, I’ve got a hunch this may be the day this set sells out for good! If you want this set–now is the time!

ORIGINAL 9/22/2018: While it seemed like a surefire blockbuster bestseller the moment it was revealed at New York Toy Fair 2018, this year’s Marvel Legends Sentinel & Days of Future Past Wolverine set has had a bumpy ride. It was initially planned as a Toys R Us exclusive, but after TRU went belly-up, it seemed destined to be a Target exclusive. But it turns out there’s a different major player involved: official hi-res photos of the 2018 Marvel Legends Sentinel and Wolverine set have appeared on Amazon… and some collectors have even managed to order the set from them!

Marvel Legends 2018 Sentinel and Wolverine DOFP Set Packaged

Compounding the tragedy of Toys R Us’ demise is the fact that they had a rather amazing lineup of exclusives slotted in for this year, including this Days of Future Past Marvel Legends Sentinel set.

Thankfully, while Toys R Us itself has been cancelled in the United States, their exclusives haven’t been—they’ve just shifted over to other retailers. And good news for everyone seems to be that one of the most accessible retailers in the world will be carrying the Sentinel set: Amazon!

Now, at this point, you’ve probably clicked the link above and see that big ol’ “Currently Unavailable” notice over on Amazon. That’s what the vast majority of people have seen, as the DOFP Sentinel ML box set hasn’t had much availability… yet.

Marvel Legends Sentinel and Wolverine Exclusive SetBut “not much” isn’t the same as “not at all”, as I’ve had several readers contact me to let me know that they successfully ordered the set off of Amazon for $99.99. Given that there’s a $20 MSRP Wolverine included and a humongous Sentinel figure, I think that’s a fair price to charge. Collectors must think so too, because the Sentinel has quickly sold out in minutes each time it’s been up so far.

While it uses a lot of preexisting tooling, this is the first time we’ll ever have seen an official 6” Marvel Legends Days of Future Past Wolverine figure released. He comes with two pairs of hands (with and without claws), and also… a gun? There’s something we don’t see Hasbro Wolverine figures come with very often…!

Marvel Legends Days of Future Past Sentinel Wolverine Box FrontThe electronic Sentinel figure looks wonderfully classic in its purple and pink color scheme, and features sounds and phrases when you press his chest. I don’t believe Hasbro has confirmed the height on the Sentinel, but we can tell from the scale photos with Logan that it’s clearly over 12” tall.

Even though it’s still marked as “Unavailable” as of writing, the 2018 Marvel Legends Sentinel Exclusive figure’s page is still posted and able to be bookmarked for frequent checking. I have no idea when he’ll be restocked, but Hasbro has to know this is going to be an incredibly in-demand item, so hopefully there’s making plenty of them.

Days of Future Past Wolverine and Sentinel Marvel Legends Exclusive Box SetI’ll send out alerts via the Marvel Toy News Twitter and Facebook Pages as soon as I hear the Sentinel set is in-stock, but thus far it’s sold out mind-blowingly quickly, so I haven’t even caught it yet for myself. Stay tuned.

Have you managed to spot this Sentinel set in-stock (and maybe even order it) yourself yet? Based off the final packaged official photos and what we know about it, is this $100 set bound for your collection? And at that price, would you consider purchasing multiple Sentinels for your display?

Marvel Legends Sentinel & Wolverine Exclusive Set 42% Off Today! — 20 Comments

  1. I’m not in love with the idea of an electronic figure. I prefer the figures without a gimmick. But I’ll probably still jump on this.

    • This Sentinel is a crappy rerelease of the Marvel Universe Sentinel. There’s literally nothing new about it.

It’s literally BUILT ON the Marvel Universe Galactus body, which is why it’s so badly suited to be a Sentinel.
      It’s a great Galactus though.
They’re available on eBay in 2 styles, classic blue/magenta and dark blue/purple.

Given the laziness of this Sentinel release, that’s probably the closest you’re going to get to a new Marvel Legends Galactus.

  2. Amazon has a rather lousy track record on packaging. Half their boxes arrive damaged. 🙁 Also, I doubt they will bring this to international Amazon stores (UK, DE, FR…) and they certainly won’t ship it to Europe from their US store.

  3. This is nice for people who have wanted to get the marvel universe sentinel but didn’t have a chance… however, I find myself agreeing with Phil, above. Why does a Sentinel have humanoid upper arms and upper legs, and 6-pack abs? Because its re-using Galactus parts!

I much prefer the look of the old BAF Sentinel (not that I can afford one lol). Additionally, while Sentinels do tend to have a streamlined look, I feel like this guy could use more detail/texturing to make him look less toy-like. And the price point of $100 seems pretty high for something that was designed years ago. The Marvel Universe Galactus is very impressive, I wish they had brought him back instead.. but I guess they figured all the ML x-men collectors would go for this guy.

No offense to folks excited to get a sentinel, he is certainly the right size and heft to pose with a bunch of 6″ or 3 3/4″ figures.

    • The Toy Biz BAF had 6-pack abs too, but that one was a faithful adaption of Marc Silvestri’s Rover Sentinel.

But there is something a little odd about this one. I agree. It looks more like part of their Titan Heroes line for kids.

      • someone pointed out to me elsewhere that in the 90s X-Men cartoon, the sentinels did have humanoid musculature, so I guess that’s forgiveable. I tend to think of the sentinels as depicted by artists like John Byrne, Paul Smith, and John Romita Jr. Still think this guy does not look that great, kind of strange that the “overly toyish” descriptor applies to both this guy and the upcoming Kree Sentry BAF.

  4. I saw a review on this set. I’m not very happy with the product, or the price. I would have been slightly happier if it came with a completely original figure, but no. It was yet another Wolverine. Why not Shadowcat?
Anyway, the articulation left A LOT to be desired, and you can’t even grab any of the figures with the Sentinel hands. Seems like an extremely missed opportunity. Then you have the noise gimmick like Dan said earlier. Makes it feel cheaper than it is. More like a toy, than a figure. And honestly, what child is going to spend 100+ bucks on a toy?
The size is very impressive, and imposing, but you can’t make it look down. It only turns its head around. Another missed opportunity. No ab crunch, so it can’t even appear to look down. No real dynamic poses because the feet are impaired by the old design.
Basically what i’m saying is that they are better than this. They should have scrapped the old stuff, and continued on with the new. We certainly pay enough. I just feel like there are going to be a lot of people with buyers remorse because they won’t be able to do what they were envisioning when they were first announced.

  5. They had 3 available last night when I was browsing so I grabbed one (I do have the old BAF as well). I loved that storyline from the comics and had to buy it.

  6. They have periodically popped up as available on and off all morning. I was able to snag one just now.

  7. Old Man Logan with a poor face sculpt =/

Also, Hasbro needs to design their packaging so that it is safe from the people who work in Amazon’s sweatshop warehouses. They don’t gaf over there, and Amazon’s shipping is clearly the worst of all the online retailers.

  8. Very disappointing. Although the Wolverine is pretty good, that Sentinel does NOT look like the classic “Days of Future Past” design at all. I’ll pass.

  9. So I have never owned this version of a Sentinel. My question is, I am confused by its exact height. I’ve saw it listed as 12″ “which it is clearly taller than”, 16″ and 18″. Anyone who actually has this guy “and can measure, lol!” Please let me know, thanks!

  10. Is it me or does it seem like this is on the way toward a major price drop? It’s been available now for two days so they’ve clearly cleared out the people willing to pay $99 for it. I’m betting this will go for $50 come Christmas.
