Exclusive Marvel Legends Cowboy Logan Wolverine Figure Up for Order!

Just when it looked like the most exciting thing to happen to me Marvel collecting-wise this week was going to be finding the new Mysterio Berry Dr. Pepper at Walmart, a photo leaked online Friday afternoon of a previously unannounced Marvel Legends 80 Years figure of what appeared to be a brand new Wolverine variant. We didn’t have long to wait until an official announcement of exactly what that figure was: the Exclusive Marvel Legends Cowboy Logan Wolverine figure is now up for order! I’m not sure anyone was crying out for a new ML Logan–but now that he’s here, he does look pretty sweet…

Marvel Legends Cowboy Logan Wolverine Figure

May the 4th has long been associated with new Star Wars toys being announced or released because, well… “May the 4th be with you”. Get it?

But over the course of the last few years, Marvel fans have been getting some thrills on May 4th, and it looks like 2019 is going to continue that trend–because out of nowhere, a brand-new addition to the 80 Years of Marvel Marvel Legends series has been announced and is now up for order: “Cowboy Logan”!

Close-Up of Marvel Legends Wolverine Cowboy Logan Exclusive FigureI don’t know if that’s the official title for this figure or just a placeholder name, but let’s call a spade a spade here: this is definitely Logan dressed up like a Cowboy with well-worn jeans and cowboy hat.

2019 Toy Fair Juggernaut and Colossus Marvel Legends FiguresI don’t know how I feel about the head sculpt on this figure (it’s not really in a style that I closely associate with any of my favorite interpretations of Wolverine), but I think this will be an excellent figure to pair with the upcoming classic Colossus and Juggernaut two-pack from the Marvel Legends 80 Years series. The Juggernaut/Colossus/Wolverine bar story from that issue of Uncanny X-Men is pretty legendary even today, after all!

Up-Close Photo of Cowboy Logan Marvel Legends Exclusive Figure 80 YearsThe Exclusive Cowboy Logan Marvel Legends 80th Anniversary Series figure is now up for PO, and is scheduled to be released in October 2019. Presumably he’s going to be available from multiple retailers as an exclusive, but thus far only EE has posted him as far as I can tell. Strangely enough, this previously unannounced figure is also the first of the 80 Years of Marvel Legends figures to go up for sale. Go figure! No word yet on when the rest of that wave will be up for reservations.

What do you think of this surprise entry in the 80th Anniversary Series, Marvel collectors? Is this a worthwhile bonus figure to add onto that theme, and are you interested in adding this iteration of Wolverine to your own collection?

  1. Not really digging his face, otherwise a cool looking figure. I think I’m all set on wolverine figures though between vintage wave, tiger stripe, and old man logan.

  2. I think I’m going to get him, but I’m not sure yet. A few more pictures of that same promo photo might do it for me. Three isn’t quite enough. But seriously, I’ll probably get him. I don’t remember a specific time he looked exactly like this, but this is sort of a standard version of what he looked like in general from between about ’83 and ’93 whenever he wasn’t in an actual hero-ing costume. The brown jacket Old Man Logan wore would have made this look a lot like Logan as he appeared in Alpha Flight after James Hudson died, but I guess that would look too much like the same figure with a different head. Say… maybe the heads are interchangeable… Ok… I’m gonna buy one.

    • This is I believe based on bone claw Logan after the Fatal Attractions storyline when he tells Jubilee he is leaving. Same outfit, but with bandages around his forearms and hands. It’d be sweet if he had bone claws…

  3. The face sculpt is awful with that “squinting” eye look. It will be even worse if the hat is not removablem. This is an easy pass.

  4. Simple: When I thought from blurry images that he had bone claws, this was a reluctant get. Now that it is confimed they are standard adamantium, this is an easy pass.

Maybe had they re-tooled it with butterfly joints, I’d have reconsidered,

This is the motorcycle wolverine from neck down. Just a crappy new head sculpt.
Maybe if he comes with cool stuff I’ll give it a second thought. Otherwise, nah, Hasbro, nice try, but no thanks.

If anything – I’ll wait til it hits below 10 somewhere.

Because when a 50/50 split of the collecting community exists regarding whether or not to buy a figure at all, a ridiculous markdown is inevitable.

As retailers drown in boxes of Coyote Ugly Wolverine, I think we’ll see them practically giving him away.

  5. It’s really just that face that makes this a HARD and EASY pass. It looks like when men have too many face lifts and fillers added in. Why is his face the struggle of struggles for Hasbro? I would have been a fan and bought this concept if his face was better.

  6. It’s a great to have a hat wearing Logan but we get yet another crappy Logan face from Hasbro. That sculpt looks terrible when measured up against the quality of the other recent releases. If they had included bandaged wrists/hands with claws I’d have definitely pre-ordered this and just swapped out the head for a custom. One day we’ll get a decent Logan face from Hasbro…but that means they’d have to make even more Wolverine figures.
