Well, we might as well start calling it “San Diego Deadpool Con 2013”, because another Marvel exclusive has been announced for the show, and yes–it’s also Deadpool themed. You can always count on Diamond Select Toys to come up with at least one totally unexpected, off-the-wall Marvel Minimates SDCC exclusive set each year. And, well–I’d venture to say this is that one, this year. It’s the San Diego Comic-Con 2013 Exclusive Deadpools Assemble Minimates set!

Uhhhhh. Well, I can honestly say with a clear conscience that I was not expecting this Minimates set as a SDCC 2013 exclusive. We’ve been waiting to hear what exclusive Minimates sets Action Figure Express would be bringing to San Diego Comic-Con next month, and this Deadpools Assembles Minimates set is one of them.

Honestly, I really don’t know what to say about this set. It’s basically Deadpool cosplaying in the costumes of other famous Marvel superheroes. And yes, these are actually real costumes that Deadpool has actually worn on actual covers or in actual Marvel comic books, as hard to believe as that may be. No, really. All of this happened.

The packaging for the Marvel Minimates Deadpools Assemble set is a real gem. I absolutely adore that the part of all of the major icons on the top of the box is being played by Deadpool–from Spider-Deadpool to Wolver-pool. This is just hilarious. It doesn’t top the insanity of the Marvel Universe Deadpool Corps Taco Truck, which is destined to be one of the best packaging jobs ever, but it sure is fun anyway.

As a reader of the entire run of the quasi-classic “Cable & Deadpool” comic book series and most of the Deadpool solo comics ever released, I do have a fondness for a lot of these designs, and will definitely be placing an order for this set of Cable-Pool, Captain Ameri-Pool, Thor-Pool, and Phonics-Killer Iron Deadpool Minimates figures. Your mileage–and tolerance for inane Deadpool figure exclusives–may vary.
