Marvel Vinylmation Red Hulk & Red She-Hulk Figures!

The days of Disney Vinylmation collecting may be coming to an end. Disney has virtually eliminated all trading at the Disney Parks, and the number of series and limited-edition sets coming out this year is a meager fraction of what we’ve seen in past years. But one Vinylmation series that still seems to be strong and fervently-collected is the Vinylmation Marvel series! And before the Vinylmation Avengers series hits this summer, Disney has a surprise LE set lined up for us next month: Vinylmation Red Hulk and Red She-Hulk!

Vinylmation Red Hulk and Red She Hulk Figures

As someone who’s been collecting Disney Vinylmation vinyl figures since they debuted over a half-decade ago, it definitely makes my heart sad to see the lack of interest and excitement surrounding the line in its present state. There’s not much doubt about the fact that Disney is quickly phasing Vinylmation figures out.

But before the end comes, we’ve still got a decent lineup of Vinylmation Marvel series figures left to come! One of the most-anticipated overall upcoming releases will come out this summer, when a six-figure Vinylmation Avengers blind box series is scheduled to be released (with differing case ratios and variant chase figures).

But that’s not all! This week, the Disney Merchandise Blog announced an all-new limited-edition two-pack scheduled to be released at a special event next month: the Disney Vinylmation Marvel Red Hulk and Red She-Hulk set!

The Red Hulks Vinylmation LE set will be released on April 17th at the Disneyland Resort D-Street store, where designer Thomas Scott will be signing the sets from 10AM to noon. The set has an unannounced edition size and will be limited to two-per-guest. No word yet on when (or if) the set will be available at the Orlando D-Street store or on the online Disney Store, but I’d assume some quantity of the set will be available through both those outlets as well.

Vinylmation Red She-Hulk FigureRed Hulk has always seemed like a no-brainer to me for release in one of the blind box series as a Hulk variant, but it turns out that he’s going to make himself known as a headliner in his own collector’s set instead!

Meanwhile, the Red She-Hulk Vinylmation is a complete surprise. For a character who’s done relatively little and whose own series bombed quickly, Red She-Hulk will now have her own Marvel Legends figure, Marvel Universe Infinite Series figure and even a Vinylmation vinyl figure! Betty Ross (Betty Banner) has finally hit the big time!

Disney Vinylmation Red Hulk FigureThough there have been literally thousands of different Disney Vinylmation figures released at this point (I’m not exaggerating), I believe that this will be the first-ever father/daughter two-pack of Vinylmation figures (as Red Hulk is General Thunderbolt Ross and his daughter, Betty Ross, is the Red She-Hulk). Awwww, isn’t that sweet?

With Red Hulk remaining a super-popular character despite his appearance being cut back in the Marvel comics, I’m sure that this set will sell through quite quickly, despite Vinylmation collecting being on its downswing.

Anyone (besides me) planning on picking up this Red Hulk Vinylmation set, or am I the last Marvel Vinylmation fan standing on this site?

  1. I started collecting Vinylmation a year or so after they came out. I collected them for all of about…2 months and then I just kinda stopped. I love them and still check them out everytime i’m in a Disney Store or when i’m in D-Street in downtown Disney (Florida), but I haven’t purchased any in a long time.

I think the problem is in general the Vinyl toy collectible phase is kind of ending. The blind box thing is fun but also extremely costly and I think most people would rather just buy the one or two figures they want.

I actually customized my own Captain America vinylmation way back in the day before Disney announced their first Marvel line, but I really wish I ended up getting the official Cap vinylmation, but unfortunately I missed the boat and theyre waaaay too expensive second hand. And whenever I can’t have the pieces of a collection I want, it kind of drives me away from collecting the series at all. Thats likely what happened with vinylmations. Sure there are lots of adult collectors but there’s also a lot of kids who go to a disney store and see the figures displayed in awesome cases and purchase a blind box and open up a spider-woman when they wanted Iron-Man. And now the kids upset and the parents are mad they just wasted 10 bucks on an item their kid hates.

Disney would have been better off phasing their vinylmations out a while ago and not selling their rights to Funko for the “Mystery Minis” i think more people are on board as well when the figures dont look like Mickey.

  2. Its a shame that vinylmation is going to stop! I really wish they would continue since I started learnign about them only today! Do you know where can i get the cases of star wars, beauty and the beast, big hero 6, etc?
