NYCC 2015: Marvel Legends 2016 Revealed! Rogue! Scourge!

Happy New York Comic Con 2015, everyone! Like Christmas, NYCC comes but once a year–and just like Christmas gets Christmas Eve, there’s a New York Comic Con Eve celebration held each year! And at last night’s pre-NYCC Party, as expected, several new 6″ Marvel Legends 2016 figures were revealed, including Scourge, Whirlwind, Sharon Carter… and a Jim Lee Rogue figure!

I got an invite to the Hasbro NYCC Party this year, but I just wasn’t quite ready to make the trip yet yesterday after my odyssey to the ER over the weekend.

Luckily, Hasbro was nice enough to send along official press images of all five figures–and one head!–that were unveiled at last night’s party!

There’s been a loud and clear cry that many fans are waiting for a Marvel Legends Peggy Carter figure based on her appearance in the MCU and her “Agent Carter” TV Series. But those fans are going to have to settle for a different Agent Carter (for now), as in 2016 we’re getting a new Marvel Legends Sharon Carter figure!

Better known as Agent 13 in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”, this will be Sharon Carter’s second Hasbro 6″ figure, believe it or not. No one can accuse Hasbro of dodging female characters, that’s for sure!

In addition to Sharon Carter, three classic Captain America villains made their six inch debuts! I think that the Marvel Legends Cottonmouth figure definitely wins the early award for most unexpected Legends figure of next year!

There’s also a Marvel Legends Scourge figure lined up for next year. This isn’t my favorite Scourge costume ever from the comics, but no one can contest the fact that it looks badass in six inch figure form.

Finally, we’ve got the first-ever Marvel Legends Whirlwind! Response to the 2014 Marvel Infinite Series Wave 2 Whirlwind 3 3/4″ figure was a little chilly, but I love this classic Iron Man villain. As a 90’s Iron Man animated series fan, Whirlwind is a must-buy for me.

Oh yeah–there was also the completely out of left field reveal of a Marvel Legends Jim Lee Rogue figure, along with the promise of a Marvel Legends X-Men series. Remember, it is movie-related X-Men toys that are blacklisted, not comics-based stuff.

One figure in the 2016 X-Men Legends figure will include an Onslaught Build-A-Figure head that’s compatible with the Red Onslaught BAF from the Captain America Civil War Legends series. The X-Men Build-A-Figure has yet to be revealed (*cough* Apocalypse? *cough*)

…And that’s it for Hasbro Marvel Legends 2016 reveals (for now)! I expect we’ll learn the rest of the 2016 Marvel Legends X-Men series lineup before the end of the year, but that will likely be it for revealed figures until New York Toy Fair 2016 in February 2016.

That said, I’ll be reporting on new products from Kotobukiya, Diamond Select Toys, Square-Enix and more all week(end) long live from the floor at NYCC 2015! Be sure to follow the Marvel Toy News Facebook and Twitter Pages if you don’t want to miss any of the news and photos from the show.

What do you think of Hasbro’s New York Comic-Con 2015 showing, Marvel collectors? Do any of the obscure Captain America villains shown ignite your collector’s blood, or are you only excited for the new Marvel Legends Rogue figure and the promise of more X-Men in 2016?

NYCC 2015: Marvel Legends 2016 Revealed! Rogue! Scourge! — 36 Comments

  1. Hasbro said this rogue is part of an unannounced wave of figs, can you say, Jim lee era x men wave?!!!! I freakin hope so, and what is better is that we don’t have to worry about one single stupid looking movie fig as Dwight stall said at sdcc, they cannot make movie x figs do to property right!!! I’m exited, I’ve been waiting for Jim lee era figs for a long time.

    • I would be happy with a Polaris, Shadowcat, re-released Emma (she is way to hard to get) Iceman, and maybe Beast… I just hope there aren’t any new Wolverine’s or Cyclops’s!

  2. I’m pretty sure I’m the only person who wishes Rogue was in one of her white and green costumes but this is fabulous none the less and I’m so happy we get the unreleased Legacy Rogue head in the form of Sharon Carter or as she will be known in my house as S.H.E.I.L.D Dazzler.

    • You are definitely not the only one. Her white and green costume that was best depicted by Olivier Coipel is by far my favorite look of hers. So this is bittersweet news. I like your idea of SHIELD Dazzler!

      • I was thinking about one of her modern green and white costumes not her green and light green brotherhood costume (it’s not my favorite either). The Jim Lee designs are nostalgic and I loved them when I was a kid but they are tired and dated at this point and Rogue isn’t even the same person she was when she had that costume and hasn’t been for almost 20 years now. I also think that with all the modern X-men and Avengers released by hasbro this figure will look out of place with them in a display.

        • You know Rogue’s current costume is based on her old Brotherhood costume right? I have the comic where switch back to her old style and alarmed Wolverine.
Modern X Men and Avengers suck compared to the 90s counterparts to me, but to each his/her own.

    • At this point I’d be surprised if Gambit and Deadpool weren’t also in that wave. Perhaps a new Purple Psylocke, Jim Cyclops and Beast are on the way too. Guess we’ll have to wait and see. I can’t believe Hasbro is doing X-Men Legends again! I’m so stoked!!!

      • I just want Polaris, a rerelease of Emma, Iceman, and Shadowcat. Rather than take up X-men spots, I’d like Deadpool to get his own wave. Maybe characters like Domino or even Psylocke can get in there to! I’d love a Psylocke!!

  3. I wonder if Cottonmouth being one of the main villains in the Luke Cage Netflix show had something to do with him getting a figure.

    • It’s awesome that thanks to highschool Latin and a little French I can read your post without even knowing for certain whether it is Spanish or Portuguese! 😉

Yo creo que Mockingbird esta mejora. Mockingbird me encanta!!!

  5. As a HUGE 90s Xmen fan, I just orgasmed at that Rogue figure. Jim Lee’s Cyclops was the best looking Cyclops. I hope there will be remakes of X Men Blue team, Gold team, and professor X. And there’s a proper Onslaught head!!? Dies..

  6. Hoping we could get a full 90s X-Men TAS team (probable exception of the previously released Jean Grey) with Rogue’s wave–With the addition of classic Magneto on the Grim Reaper mold, and Apocalypse as a BAF. If the X-Men waves are going to be this sparse–which I hope will be eradicated–I think knocking out a full team of X-Men in era-matching costumes would be the best route. Rogue, Cyclops, Storm, Wolverine, Gambit, and Beast, with two villains added in.

Unless this means the X-Men will be more like the Spiderman waves now, in which case you could throw in Psylocke, 90s Jubilee, Mystique, and a few others and spread them across two waves.

  7. Does this make Cottonmouth the first Serpent Society member to get a figure? I know Constrictor almost joined back in Captain America #310 but snitched on the team and got nearly killed by both Anaconda AND Scourge! Anyway, Cottonmouth looks awesome.

Scourge is a tricky character to pin down in plastic form. I like his first costume the best even though he was mostly in disguise all the time at first.

The head sculpt on Rogue looks fantastic at this stage. Let’s hope the end result resembles it. Sharon Carter is just as good.

Whirlwind seems to match his smaller counterpart from last year. No complaints here. I love it when a character is done wearing the same costume in both 6″ and 4″ inch sizes, especially if they are wearing their classic or most popular costumes.

  8. Me gustaria ver a onslaugth con su cabeza “magneto” y saber algo mas de la imagen de nuke .. namor y abominacion que se mostraron la comic con pasada

  9. I’m sorry but what is the difference between this Rogue tease and the 2013(?) one with the Pick build-a-figure?

I’ll believe this when I actually *see* a Rogue figure in a store. (I haven’t since the 90’s and live in a decent-sized city)

If I ever do see it and live through the heart attack I’ll +1 you Hasbro but I’m not holding my breath.

    • Wow,you’ve got to take better care of yourself, friend. Pessimism isn’t good for your health. Stress kills, and no, do not hold your breath. That isn’t good for cardio pulmonary and may actually cause a heart attack.? Cheer up!?this is good news!(I know you are being facetious and not being literal) However, the evidence is obvious in answer to your question.
Hasbro has done a 180 in regards to their previous dismal distribution of product. The new deal has exponentially increased product placement.
Have you been to Toysrus,TARGET,Walgreens or Wal-Mart lately??
Look around. The Legends are ubiquitous! Yes,X-Men must have their own Marvel Legends sub-line do to the marvel movie model distribution deal, but this is a good thing that will serve X-fans well. A long as Hasbro has deals with ALL the store buyers mentioned above then just like,Gamora,Spidergirl, Spiderwoman,Black Cat,Capt.Marvel,Hellcat,Scarlet Witch, White Tiger, Misty Knight & other figures Rogue and the X-Men will receive same treatment.
Previously the problem with the teased then cancelled Wolverine Puck BAF Rogue (and tRu Jubilee)was the EXCLUSIVE to Previews(and tru) distribution.
I feel the best is yet to come. I am optimistic this golden age of toys is just getting started.? ✌

      • Don’t forget White Phoenix and AOA Jean, even if I don’t like Jean I like White Phoenix.

  10. Bueno eh leeido que la figura de angela esta en discucion si se hara en una wave de asgard o una de guardianes … mientras que namor es un figura exclusiva de wallsgreen

  11. I want Rogue to go with my marvel select Gambit at least hope she is similar in size to him. But yes finally this the Rogue I grew up watching in the cartoons and that I love, yay #hasbro!!! ^^

  12. I don’t particularly care for Rogue, although that is a nice figure, but the promise of a X-Men wave and that Mockingbird put me and Marvel back on speaking terms.
Now here’s my X-Men wish list, even though it is unlikely.

#7 Gambit. I’m not the biggest Gambit fan, but I used to really like him.
#6 Unreleased White Phoenix Of The Crown figure, that would be cool. Or maybe even change it to red or green, that would be even better.
#5 Sinister. With a build a figure of Apocolypse, Sinister would be a great addition.
#4 Shadowcat. I love, love, love Kitty, Astonishing please?
#3 Iceman. Who doesn’t love Bobby? I’m not sure which suit I want but probably not a translucent blue figure.
#2 Emma Frost. I actually adore Emma for her sass and wit, I recently re-read her origins book it’s amazing. I know there is a recent Emma, but I don’t want to pay 200 dollars on eBay… Maybe just rerelease her separately? A lot of people have this issue. Astonishing or the already released Em.
#1 Polaris! I love Lorna, and she used to be UP THERE on those wish lists. I like her popular green outfit with the tiara and cape.

    BAF: Apocolypse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS: Even though this list will never happen, please Marvel… Do not make another Wolverine or Cyclops!

  13. Shadowcat
    Magneto (marvel now)
    Cyclops (phoenix)
    Polaris
    X man
    Rogue (jim lee)

Baf translucent fire effect phoenix or baf shadowking

  14. I am so psyched for that AWESOME Cottonmouth figure. I hope this means we will get the entire Serpent Society!! I never thought I would see them in 6 in. Legends, but man I am so excited and hopeful. What an awesome freakin’ villain choice! Thank You Hasbro!!! I’ll buy 5 of each, if you make the Society! Please Lord, please!! Whoo-hoo!!!

  15. When the HELL are we ever getting an awesome Colossus 6 inch Legend? This is rediculous, as all 6 inch attempts at him have been HORRENDOUS!!
