SDCC 2016 Marvel Legends Exclusive Sets Hi-Res Photos!

I always root for toy manufacturers to be able to keep their convention exclusives under wraps until they’re ready to unveil them themselves, but sometimes that’s just not to be. Such was the case with this year’s Hasbro Marvel Legends SDCC 2016 sets. But even though we’ve known the contents of both the sets for several weeks, it’s still exciting that Hasbro has finally released hi-res photos officially confirming the Marvel Legends The Raft and The Collector’s Vault sets!

SDCC 2016 Marvel The Raft 6 Inch Figures Box

Okay, let’s not mince words here: we all know all of the SDCC 2016 Hasbro Marvel Legends exclusives at this point–both the Marvel Universe scale 4″ set and the class 6″ scale set. In fact, the Marvelicious Toys podcast has even posted a podcast review of the SDCC Exclusive 4″ set!

Even so, it’s always nice when we get official confirmation straight from the source that transforms likely rumors into verified facts. And that’s just what Hasbro did to close out the week!

SDCC 2016 Marvel Legends The Collectors Vault Set BoxFirst, we’ve got the exclusive Marvel Legends The Collector’s Vault SDCC 2016 set. Word of this set first broke way back on June 1st, when the set suddenly appeared for sale on eBay out of nowhere.

The Collector’s Vault Marvel Legends 3.75″ set will retail for $69.99 and is now confirmed to include the following comics-based figures and accessories:

  • The Collector
  • Lockjaw
  • Cosmo the Space Dog
  • Howard the Duck
  • Moon Boy
  • The Wand of Watoomb
  • The Zodiac Key
  • The Casket of Ancient Winters

…That’s quite an eclectic set of characters, that’s for sure!

Hasbro SDCC 2016 Collectors Vault Marvel Legends Figures Hi ResThere’s no surprises here–the leaked eBay photos are exactly what we’re getting–we can just see more clearly in the hi-res photos what the relics are, and that only two of the figures are articulated (Moon Boy and The Collector) and three of them are non-poseable (Lockjaw, Howard the Duck and Cosmo).

Marvel Legends Collectors Vault 2016 SDCC Exclusive Box SetAnd hey–gotta love the “cage” packaging that we find the figures and artifacts in, right?

Marvel Legends The Raft Box CoverThere’s also few surprises with the $119.99 Raft Marvel Legends box set, which comes in the previously-seen packaging and contains precisely the six 6″ figures that we saw in the leaked images last month:

  • The Enchantress
  • Dreadknight
  • Zebediah Killgrave (The Purple Man)
  • Sand Form Sandman
  • Spider-Man
  • Abomination Build-A-Figure

SDCC 2016 Marvel Legends Enchantress and Abomination FiguresEnchantress and The Purple Man (Killgrave) are hardcore fan-requested characters that may have bombed at mass retail, so they’re great choices for this set.

MARVEL Legends The Raft 6-Inch Action Figure Set oopThe darker paints on the Abomination figure in this set are much better than those of the Abomination BAF in the Captain America Legends wave, in my opinion.

Marvel Legends Dreadknight and Spider-Man SDCC 2016 Exclusives

I think the loincloth on the Dreadknight figure (which uses parts from the new Hobgoblin) could be well-utilized on a new Black Knight figure. And speaking of which, Dreadknight even comes with the original Black Knight figure’s sword!

For those who are worried about a major character like the Sandman being included as part of this set, I have a sneaking suspicion that we’ll be seeing a non-sand form version of this Sandman Build-A-Figure sooner than later. The 3.75″ Sand Form Sandman was a real pegwarmer at retail, so making the 6″ variant part of this exclusive set was probably a smart move by Hasbro

Marvel Legends The Raft Sandman and Killgrave The Purple Man Figures SDCC 2016The San Diego Comic Con 2016 Marvel Legends exclusives will be available at SDCC 2016 July 20-24th at the Hasbro booth, and will be available in highly limited quantities online after the event. I’ll send out alerts via the Marvel Toy News Twitter and Facebook Page once the exclusives go up for order online, so stay tuned to our social media if you’re a non-attendee.

Having seen the hi-res images of both Hasbro Marvel Legends San Diego Comic-Con exclusives, are you in or out for this year’s convention exclusive figures, Marvel collectors? And if you’re not happy with these selections, what would you have liked to see instead?

  1. Why does every Spiderman have horrible red arm joints when they should be blue?

    • The peg is made of colored plastic. On the outside of the arm it matches the red. On the Inside of the arm it clashes with the blue.
Unless they start painting on of the ends it’s impossible for it to not be mismatched on either the inside or outside.

      • They could just inject two different colors of plastic into the mold. Ya’ know? Red on one end and blue on the other? Let them harden and use them as joint pegs? Is that not possible? Anyone know? Seems possible to me.

        • Although Hasbro has used dual-molding (what you just described) before, I would think that these pegs are probably way too small for that.

  2. Dreadknight is reusing Baron Zemo’s loincloth and sword, and boots, and gloves, and maybe the torso too?

Aside from the arms, legs, head, cape and lance, he’s basically halfway to being a Zemo variant.

(Granted, that’s originally Black Knight’s sword and the BuckyCap gloves/boots/torso)

    • nope. its Zemo’s sword. the black knight one is different. torso is from doctor strange/voodoo/hobgoblin. arms and legs are from hobgoblin. boots and gloves from zero/boomerang/etc.

  3. Oooohweee! I can’t wait to get my hands on this! I figured out hts new website to so why everyone else is struggling to get the page up I’ll be flying under the radar.

  4. kinda wanted to see a silver surfer or a cosmic beings set with some skrull and kree. But oh well. I gotta find a way to get this set without getting smacked on the aftermarket

  5. I used to love Marvel Legends. It’s amazing to me that they have tripled in price since the originals …collecting has gotten so out of hand price wise, although I will say these are looking better than when they starting remaking the line.
