SDCC 2019 Exclusive Marvel Legends Vintage Hulk Figure Revealed!

We’ve all been waiting with bated breath to see what the Hasbro SDCC 2019 Exclusive Marvel Legends product would be this year—and, well… we don’t have to wait any more! For a nice change of pace with all the recent leaks, the San Diego Comic Con exclusive this year is something totally unexpected! For those who don’t like the exclusive two-pack Hulk with Wolverine, you’ve got another option: the SDCC Marvel Legends Vintage Hulk on Retro Toybiz-inspired cardback (with crushed pipe accessory)!

Marvel Legends SDCC 2019 Hulk Vintage Figure Packaged

We Marvel Legends collectors have been really spoiled over the years as far as SDCC exclusives go, receiving whole sets of figures for themes like X-Force, Thunderbolts, Asgard, Defenders, Doctor Strange and more.

And while it’s still possible that a multipack for this year is still forthcoming and is yet to be announced, the first ML item announced for the show is coming all by its lonesome: a remixed version of the upcoming 80th Anniversary Hulk figure!

Marvel Legends 80 Years First Appearance Wolverine and Hulk Two Pack Packaged

Basically, this is the soon-to-be-released Hulk mold from the two-pack with Wolverine, but with a new head, no shirt or alternate hands, and darker purple pants. “My” Hulk is the one from the two-pack with the bright purple pants and more classic head, but I know a lot of 90s fans are gonna dig this more modern version.

Obviously this figure is too large and expensive to be included as part of the $19.99 waves of Retro figures on Toybiz style packaging, so I love that Hasbro has found a way to get him out to collectors that want him.

And yes, he comes with a crushed lead pipe accessory, just like my first-ever 5” Hulk figure from the Toybiz Marvel Super Heroes line. Hasbro swoops in for the win via nostalgia once again!

That said, it’s a little disappointing that the Toybiz Hulk this is inspired by is actually much better represented by the figure in the 80th Anniversary two-pack with Wolverine. But I suppose you can’t win ’em all!

SDCC 2019 Exclusive Marvel Legends Hulk Retro FigureThis SDCC 2019 Exclusive Hulk Retro Figure will be priced at $34.99 at the convention next month, with a limited supply being put on the Hasbro Pulse website for non-attendees afterwards. I don’t think this version will have the same natural demand that the classic iteration from the two-pack does, but with its exclusivity and limited nature, I’m certain this will be a swift sell-out both at the convention and online all the same.

Thoughts on the first (perhaps only) Hasbro Marvel Legends San Diego Comic Con 2019 Exclusive? Are you still holding out hope for additional items to be announced for the show, or will you be satisfied if this is the singular ML entry this year?

  1. This looks pretty neat. I hate that it is an exclusive as they tend to be difficult to get. Although Hasbro has upped their game as of the past couple years when it comes to offering their exclusives on the site after SDCC.

  2. $35 for another head. Nah! I am going to get the 2 pack so don’t need to spend that much for this and was there not a rock with the original TB one.I think they are holding out on a surprise multi pack. Last year was a wash out with the Netflix box set, so can’t imagine they are going to miss an opportunity to make more money.

  3. Cool looking Hulk altho i like the head sculpt on the 2-pack version better and i think i like that version’s green coloring better too. That said, unless you are going to sdcc or one of the other major cons with a hasbro presence, i think this retro card version will be nearly impossible to obtain for the $35 mrsp. Whatever is left over from sdcc will likely sell out super fast on hasbro pulse.

Haven’t committed to the 2-pack yet either. I’m banking on a slim chance that i end up finding it at Gamestop during one of their sales. Pretty dubious, i know.

But i also suspect we will see a few more hulk figs with this buck released over the next couple of years, too.

  4. Hmm I was looking forward to the two pack with Wolverine but I’ll probably try to look for this figure to because I’ve only got one hulk figure and it’s the target three pack one with Ultron and Vision from a few years ago and I don’t really care for that one.

    • You can’t open this one. The vintage style packaging is part of the appeal. Plus it is SDCC, so it’s not like you can pick one up at the store.

  5. This is completely not fair! So does anyone know, will there be an announcement when they go on to Pulse? I’ve read that Pulse has been a disaster with the Star Wars exclusives, and they sold out in seconds. I just hope they make this figure available for everyone who wants it.

  6. Easy pass for me. Both glad and a bit disappointed this is the exclusive (I’m still hoping for a box set)
The two pack HULK will go in my Defenders display and I’m not buying two Hulls. Especially at this price point.
Glad for anyone who is excited for this.

  7. Easy pass. Classic 2 pack Hulk is the one I’ve been waiting my entire Marvel legends collecting life on. Face off TB Hulk has finally been dethroned!
