For the first time in several years, it seems like we’re really on-track to have a (relatively) normal San Diego Comic-Con. And just like in pre-pandemic times, merchandisers are ready to rock with an assortment of San Diego Comic-Con 2022 Exclusives! And first up, not surprisingly, is the ever-prolific Diamond Select Toys: the SDCC 2022 Exclusive Spider-Sense Spider-Man Bust, Marvel Gallery Green Phoenix statue and more are all up for pre-order now!

I’ve become so accustomed to conventions being canceled at this point that I was totally caught off-guard seeing companies begin to announce a multitude of items as 2022 SDCC Exclusives.

But with just two months to go, it looks like San Diego Comic Con will legitimately be happening this year, and toy companies are now starting to show off their exclusives for the event, beginning with Diamond Select Toys (and their partners)…

Leading off the pack of con exclusives, we have this Spider-Man Animated Series Spider-Sense Spider-Man mini bust. In a different time, a limited edition of 1000 pieces variant of a sold-out headliner bust would be getting loads of hype, but we evidently do not live in that era anymore.

Diamond Select’s Spider-Man Animated bust of Spidey himself was a quick sellout that’s honestly been more successful than most of DST’s 90s Marvel busts, and ended up being a bit of a tough pickup for many fans. The red-on-black inverted color palette of this SDCC variant is actually really snazzy, and at just 60 bucks MSRP I think this will sell out the fastest of DST’s exclusives across all their brands.

Diamond Select Toys’ other “big” Marvel collectible for the show in July is a Marvel Gallery Green Phoenix statue. I was a bit stumped when I first saw this, as we’ve had a Phoenix Green Costume PVC figure in the Gallery lineup before, but that was back in 2017. I suppose half a decade is long enough between refreshes of one of the most iconic X-Women ever.

Even at just 50 bucks, I can see the LE size of 3000 pieces being sufficient to meet demand for this $50 10” statue by Victor Hugo Sousa.

Rounding out DST’s SDCC 2022 Marvel exclusives is a D-Stage Throg vs. Crocodile Loki diorama figure from Diamond’s partner company, Beast Kingdom. For those familiar with this line, the official numbering designation is D-Stage DS-107SP.

The 6” plastic diorama will feature Frog of Thunder Thor (Throg) leaping forward and charging up his hammer to smack a surprised Croki in the face. I don’t generally partake of this particular line, but the fun and whimsical nature of this $39 exclusive has succeeded in capturing my attention.
