Way back in my 2017 review, I thought the X-Men Legends Cyclops figure in the Warlock Series was acceptable, despite its flaws, because we were in the middle of a Jim Lee Cyclops famine. In 2024, not so much. We’ve seen numerous representations of Cyke in this costume in the interim, but as far as Hasbro 6” figures go, the newly-released X-Men 97 Marvel Legends Cyclops easily takes the crown as the best Jim Lee Cyclops figure ever made…

In a world where we have Hasbro X-Men Legends figures of Pretty Boy, Vertigo and Skullbuster, it’s really quite astonishing that one the greatest female X-villains of all time has never had a toy… until now. After fans’ hopes were dashed by the failed Ghost Rider Haslab, Cyclops’ first wife is finally here: the X-Men 97 Wave 2 Marvel Legends Goblin Queen Madelyne Pryor figure is now starting to arrive!

When you’re bringing a toy of a relativrly unknown character to retail stores, said toy needs to be really cool to earn buys and avoid rotting off the shelves (or worse, ending up at Ollie’s). LEGO Marvel sets have certainly fallen a tad in popularity and sales at mass retail over the last few years, with fewer major widely-distributed sets arriving in the biannual drops and more expensive sets (like last year’s $500 Avengers Tower) being released solely as more limited exclusives. But that doesn’t mean The LEGO Group (TLG) is throwing in the towel! When Hasbro released their first 6” Marvel Legends Rogue figure in her 90s Jim Lee costume back in 2017, it was a pretty big deal and a hole-filler for many X-Men collectors. Sentinels being giant freaking killer robots is a bit of a double-edged sword when it comes to merch, as every X-Men fan wants one or more—but, well, they’re -giant- freaking robots. And “giant” in the collectibles world is often synonymous with “expensive”. But Hasbro has a clever solution to that accessibility roadblock in their bag of tricks: the low-priced, low-detailed and low-articulated Marvel Titan Hero Series of oversized figures!
