X-Men Days of Future Past Minimates Figures Revealed!

As crazy as it sounds, we’re just one month away from the release of the X-Men Days of Future Past movie–and up until today, not a single toy or action figure has been shown for the movie by any manufacturer. But wait! As usual, swooping in like a hero to save the day, it’s Diamond Select Toys! While Hasbro has shown a great big nada as far as X-Men Days of Future Past figures go, Diamond Select Toys has a whole lineup of X-Men Days of Future Past Minimates figures now up for pre-order–including past and future versions of Professor X and Magneto!

I love me some X-Men movies–even the bad ones like X-3–so it’s been a pretty crushing disappointment to see the lack of any tie-in collectibles for X-Men Days of Future Past up until now. We knew that Art Asylum/Diamond Select Toys were cooking up a series of Minimates X-Men Days of Future Past toys, but everyone else has been eerily silent on the film.

While no other company has stepped up yet to announce X-Men: Days of Future Past action figures, Diamond Select finally debuted their much-anticipated Minimates figures today! The lineup includes four two-packs: Future Storm & Future Wolverine; Future Professor Xavier (with Rocket Chair!) & Past Magneto; Future Magneto with Past Mystique; and Past Charles Xavier (with non-rocket Wheelchair!) & Past Logan.

…Wait, what? Yep, the lineup is exactly what it sounds like–two versions each of Magneto, Professor X and Wolverine, plus one figure each of Mystique and Storm. Given the time travel basis for this film’s plot, it makes complete sense to do multiple versions of the most crucial characters as part of the Minimates Series.

Even so, I still would have liked a few more unique characters in the lineup, but it’s tough to gripe at Diamond Select when they’re the only company seemingly willing to tackle action figures for this 2014 X-Men movie at all.

The Marvel Minimates Series 58 X-Men Days of Future Past Minimates set is now available for pre-order, and is expected to ship out in October 2014.

What do you think about the eight figures Diamond Select Toys has developed for us X-Men movie fans? Are you pleased with the “then and now” versions of the main characters, or were there other things you were hoping for from this Marvel Minimates assortment?
