2016 Marvel Legends Packaged Figures Photos Revealed!

With the recent releases of the Target 3-Pack and Walgreens First Appearance Daredevil exclusives, all of the 2015 Marvel Legends 6″ figures that had been scheduled have now been released. But don’t get too comfortable, Marvel collectors! While we’ve still likely got 6-8 weeks before they begin to arrive in the United States (less if Hasbro wants to rush them for Christmas), photos have leaked out of the factories in China giving us our first look at next year’s packaging and the final finished figures composing the 2016 Marvel Legends Captain America Civil War and Spider-Man series!

Spider-Man Legends 2016 Morbius Figure Packaged

Given past experience, I was reasonably certain that we’d be seeing Hong Kong scrappers posting next year’s Marvel Legends 6″ figures online well ahead of the actual action figures reaching American shores. But this year, the factory workers have done us one better–they’ve leaked out actual packaged photos of the Spider-Man and Captain America Civil War Marvel Legends figures!

Now, I don’t condone these kinds of actions in any way, but the photos are out there on the internet now and there’s no forcing the genie back into the lamp, so we might as well talk about what we’ve now seen!

Taskmaster and Whirlwind Marvel Legends 2016 Figures PackagedAs we learned between San Diego Comic-Con 2015 and New York Comic-Con 2015, there are two waves of new 6″ Marvel Legends action figures due out in January 2016–

Captain America Marvel Legends Civil War Figures Wave 1:

  • Captain America
  • Sharon Carter
  • Mockingbird
  • Cottonmouth
  • Scourge
  • Taskmaster (UDON)
  • Whirlwind
  • Red Onslaught Build-A-Figure

Marvel Legends Jack O' Lantern Figure Pacakged2016 Marvel Legends Spider-Man Figures Wave 1:

  • Spider-Gwen
  • Speed-Demon
  • Sensational Spider-Man (Ben Reilly)
  • Venom (Classic)
  • Jack O’ Lantern
  • [Female] Beetle (Superior Foes of Spider-Man)
  • Morbius
  • Absorbing Man Build-A-Figure

Marvel Legends Spider-Gwen PackagedMarvel Legends Spider-Gwen is likely the most-anticipated action figure in either wave, and she looks stellar. The unmasked Gwen Stacy head turned out well, and she includes a switch-out “pulled-down” hood accessory as well. This is likely to be the hot Marvel toy of the winter, in my opinion.

2016 Marvel Legends Civil War Cottonmouth and Mockingbird PackagedUnfortunately, it looks like the super-lame practice of some figures in each wave having to share a “title” instead of having their name on the package will continue into 2016. The Marvel Legends Sharon Carter and Mockingbird figures are going to share the title of “Agents of SHIELD”, while the Marvel Legends Spider-Gwen and Ben Reilly Spider-Man (Sensational Spider-Man” will share the “Edge of Spider-Verse” title. Yuck.

Marvel Legends Scourge Figure Packaged“Mercenaries of Mayhem”? Really…? *eyeroll*

Spider-Man Marvel Legends 2016 Beetle Figure PackagedBased off the size of the Absorbing Man Build-A-Figure legs and arms that we can see in these photos, it looks likely that the Marvel Legends Absorbing Man BAF will be comparably-sized to the Rhino figure released this summer.

Captain America Legends 2016 Hasbro Figures Packaged Sharon Carter

These are obviously terrible photos, but they’re likely to be the best images available until Hasbro sends out official photos (likely not for at least a month from now). And hey, low-res photos is better than no photos at all, right…?

While initial images of all seven ML Civil War 6″ figures have popped up now, packaged images of the Spider-Man Marvel Legends Speed-Demon and Ben Reilly haven’t surfaced yet (not to mention Silvermane’s severed head on RC car), but I imagine we’ll be seeing them soon enough.

The Nuke figure revealed at SDCC 2015 is also MIA, and I’m wondering if he’s been pushed to Wave 2 with movie Civil War figures. We should find out for sure once Hasbro releases their own official images of these series.

2016 Marvel Legends Venom Figure PackagedThe 2016 Marvel Legends Civil War and Spider-Man figures should be available for order later this winter, with an expected release date in the United States by (but likely slightly before) January 2016. I’ll post an update and send out an alert via the Marvel Toy News Facebook and Twitter pages once pre-orders for the new waves of figures open up.

Based off these first images, what do you think of the first two Marvel Legends 2016 figures waves, Marvel collectors? Are you planning to pick up all of the figures in both these waves, pick-and-choose your favorites, or skip these series entirely?

2016 Marvel Legends Packaged Figures Photos Revealed! — 36 Comments

  1. So presumably the Absorbing Man’s body will come with Speed Demon, and Ben Reilly will just come with the Spider-Carnage parts (and hopefully extra hands)?

Do we have any idea where Nuke fits in?
I figured SURELY he’d be part of the Red Onslaught Wave, but all the Red Onslaught parts are already accounted for….

Captain America Wave 2, I guess?

    • I’m guessing Nuke was moved to Wave 2, although Valkyrie didn’t make her appearance until Wave 3 this year after being revealed in fall 2014, so I guess we’ll have to wait and see…

I’m wondering if Ben Reilly may have an upper torso and Speed Demon may have a lower torso for Absorbing Man or something like that. Hasbro doesn’t usually leave any of the figures out anymore for BAF Parts.

      • Nuke was never supposed to be in wave one, I don’t know where everyone is getting this idea that he is supposed to be in wave 1.

      • Absorbing Man is on the Terrax body. As for BAF part assignments, you’re forgetting the tendency Hasbro has for two characters doubling up and sharing the exact same BAF part,Dabid!☺
What’s with the”super lame”wisecrack, sir? I love the shared epithet of the “swap”/running change” characters. Bobbi and Sharon ARE agents of SHIELD. Exactly how is that “yucky” Before complaining can we be grateful for all these awesome figures first, capt? Thank goodness that those of us have the expendable income to buy these wonderful figures and the availability of the figures in order to do so.?
Remember when ROTML blister card swap “Marvel Knights”running change”was supposed to give us Blade/Punisher? But we only got Punisher.
        Some of us…did.
It got released. Blade didn’t. I still want my Blade, but I’m not complaining About the goodness we are receiving.
?just saying. I’m thankful, hopeful, and excited about this toy line.
        Shalom.✌

  2. I’m thinking one of the remaining two unrevealed figures of the Spider-Man wave will have regular skin toned arms for Absorbing Man. I don’t think he’s big enough to substantiate a dual pieced torso.

    • That’s logical, but what’s being forgotten its the double-up on the same part that HML infinite is prone to lately. Eg:White Tiger and Misty Knight both had RHINO torso.?

      • If it can be found ,and at a decent price.?

Still, even as remarkable as that MS Venom is, its not a MARVEL LEGENDS Venom figure. THAT makes a big difference among some collectors.
Those who prefer more articulation over highly detailed sculpt is just one factor in the equation.
To me it’s my personal preferences of scale. I enjoy the bigger, massive mountain-esque MS figures of Thing,Hulk,Abomination,Colossus,Rhino, Venom and THANOS for(blending into) my marvel legends collection.?
And I also look forward to acquiring another 6inch scale marvel legends Venom. To each his own.
Btw:I really wish marvel select would make a classic Odin figure.
I was mildly disappointed with the HML BAF.?
        ?Shalom.

      • I have that venom and yes it’s nice but it’s not a marvel legend and it does not scale with marvel legends

  3. Just Spider-Gwen and Ben Reilly for me. I love that Werewolf Cap head but I’ll pass on it.

  4. Loving Spider-Gwen.

Though am I missing something, or does the Civil War wave not have any actual characters from Civil War? Even the Hulkbuster wave at least had that movie-accurate War Machine with the Don Cheadle face sculpt.

  5. Doesn’t look like classic cap comes with an Onslaught piece, which means that I can possibly skip him and just pay $120

    • He does come with a part, the back pack piece to Onslaught is obscure behind him

    • What body are they using for this Cap? I still use the ML1 version for the classic ear-wings costume. I’m not sure I need to really upgrade that, either.

      • It’s the Grimm Reaper body,which is perfect?imho.
TML-1Cap is a classic and great figure!(and that shield is superior to the modern Hasbro model)
However,That said,it’s time for an update on standard 616 Steve Rogers Capt.America.?✌

    • ?LOL!hahaha…I just saw someone else on another site declare skipping Cap,but for different reasons. (Dude didn’t like the boots and shield straps)
Although,Cap indeed DOES include a BAF piece. Look again;lower left behind the figure:It’s ONSLAUGHT’s cape.
      ?Shalom

  6. I’ve been waiting for years for Hasbro to make a classic Cap figure but it took them so long that I managed to score both the masked and unmasked Toybiz Face-Off variants on ebay. (They don’t come cheap either) So now I don’t really need one in my Cap section nor in my Avengers section;(

    • Wow! Yeah, that happens. I got the Marvel Select RHINO,then Hasbro makes a comparable BAF of him.? Two Rhinos? I will figure something out. I like them both. I’m less interested with the Cap in the face pack and more so with Baron Wolfgang von Strucker. How much did it cost you??
I saw one at the last con I went to,but I’d already broke my budget for con toys.
Besides this new Cap isn’t just classic Cap,it’s CapWolf! That alone is why I’ll be buying yet another Captain America marvel legends(and onslaught too)?

        • Hahaha?Yes! Nightshade: Queen of the Werewolves!

It’s time. Tilda Johnson needs to get made next. She turned Cap into a werewolf after all, she’s Queen of the werewolves! LOL ?
C’mon,Hasbro! Make it happen(before I get restless and use a Misty Knight to make a custom Nightshade figure)
          ?Shalom

  7. If you’re lucky you can get the Cap Face-Off two packs for around $50 to $55, shipping included, but you have to bid on dozens of them before you get lucky and one falls into your price range. It’s not too bad a price for two figures, a comic reprint, flight stand, and background. Current retail for legends is $21.74 with tax in my neck of the woods so the face-off price isn’t too much higher if you score a good deal. Unfortunately, I already had the other ToyBiz Red Skull and the excellent Hasbro version, so it made that cap figure ridiculously expensive, although I guess I could sell the Skull on eBay and recoup a bit of my investment. It’s an awesome Cap figure though! People complain that the head is to small, but I see it as the body being really big and massive as Cap should be so it’s not a problem for me. But the unmasked Cap/Strucker pack is a total win-win. Realistically, I’m sure I’ll get the Wolf Cap too, my son and I are going to need the BAF part and we’re already talking about putting him in a mini Shield section (where that is going to fit on the shelf, I don’t know!).

  8. Series I Cap is definitely going to be retired off the shelf and into the bin with the ToyBiz Scarlet Witch, Ms. Marvel, etc. What to do with all those old ToyBiz favorites that are being surpassed by better Hasbro versions?
