A couple months back at the 2014 New York Toy Fair, I accidentally saw the meant-to-be-secret Unmasked Star-Lord POP Vinyls variant figure on the back of a Guardians of the Galaxy box at the Funko booth. As I’m pretty familiar with Funko’s practices, I instantly knew that the Funko Unmasked Star Lord was going to end up being an exclusive release–and it turns out I was right. If you’ve been waiting to pre-order, you’re in luck: the Chris Pratt Star-Lord Funko POP! Vinyl figure is now available for order!

While the back of the Guardians of the Galaxy POP! Vinyls boxes at New York Toy Fair 2014 spoiled the surprise that an unmasked Star-Lord POP! Vinyls figure was on the way from Funko, the box art only showed an illustration of the actual Star Lord figure without his helmet.

I’ve been waiting to see how the actual Funko exclusive Star Lord figure was going to look, and I’m thrilled to say that he’s turned out fantastic! The Chris Pratt-headed Star Lord Funko POP Vinyl is far more charming and visually appealing than his masked counterpart. And a good thing, too–with the exclusive number designation of “52”, all Marvel Funko numbering completists will need this particular variant to keep their Funko Marvel collection complete!

Unlike the helmeted version of Star Lord, which will be available at mass retail everywhere that Funko products are sold, the Unmasked Starlord is a retailer exclusive to mega online retailer Amazon. I believe this is the first time that Amazon has had a Marvel Funko POP! Vinyl exclusive all their own, so this is definitely a momentous release for Funko collectors.

I’m actually very pleased that the Funko Marvel Star-Lord Unmasked POP Vinyl figure is an Amazon exclusive, as typically Amazon orders a copious amount of their Funko exclusives, rendering them easy to find and buy without the hassle that chasing after some retailers’ Funko exclusives is (I’m talking about you, Hot Topic).

The Funko Guardians of the Galaxy Unmasked Star-Lord POP! Vinyl figure is now available for order, and is scheduled to be shipped out June 13th 2014. This is an Amazon exclusive figure that will not be sold in stores (and we have no idea what the edition size is on this one), so make sure to pre-order one online if you think you’re going to want the unmasked Starlord.
