When Hot Toys announced we’d be seeing some of their Avengers: Age of Ultron Movie Masterpiece Series figures debut at this week’s Toy Soul 2014 event, I kinda didn’t realize that they meant they were bringing almost the whole lineup to the show. Even so, Hot Toys brought the entire core six members of the Avengers, as well as Thanos and Hulkbuster Iron Man to the event. But while some of the figures look polished and amazing, some of them are clearly just in-development placeholders. And the most obvious culprits of being works-in-progress are the Avengers Age of Ultron Thor and Hulk Hot Toys figures…

First, let’s take a look at the updated look for the sixth scale Hot Toys Thor from Avengers: Age of Ultron!

This release may make those who missed out on the Hot Toys Light Asgardian Armor Thor figure from Thor: The Dark World very, very happy. Why? Because–at least for now–it’s the exact same figure, but without the rocky terrain base and inflated aftermarket prices! Yes, Thor’s armor has had the gold detailing swapped out for silver, but otherwise we’ve got the same figure as was released earlier this year (at least, for now).

While the Chris Hemsworth head sculpt that Hot Toys created for the two Thor: The Dark World Hot Toys figures is a straight-up awesome likeness, I’d really like to see Hot Toys tackle Thor with a new portrait for the Avengers: Age of Ultron figure. An angry Thor head sculpt would be terrific to have for a change, but I’d settle for a closed-mouth Thor.

Next up, we’ve got the Hot Toys Avengers Age of Ultron Hulk figure! Obviously Hulkbuster Iron Man was going to need a Hulk to bust, but, well… if he also looks a tad familiar, he should. This looks to be the exact same Hot Toys Hulk figure as the one Hot Toys released in 2013–same head sculpt and all–just with a slightly different skin color and a new pair of textured shorts to match Hulk’s “costume” from the Age of Ultron movie.

Again, let’s not get out the pitchforks–while I’m unconvinced that Hot Toys will change up the body for this Hulk figure at all (I’m sure tooling this mold cost an insane amount of money), I’d wager that we’ll see at least a new Hulk head sculpt and possibly some new alternate hands packaged with this Age of Ultron Hot Toys Hulk figure when it actually does ship out in 2015.
