Confession time: As ardent of a supporter of Iron Man 3 and the Hot Toys Iron Man 3 line as I am, there’s one figure that I passed on attempting to pre-order and have no intention of ever picking up. That figure is the Hot Toys Rose Hill Tony Stark figure (which some people affectionately refer to as “Cowboy Tony”). Yes, there’s actually a figure of Tony Stark from the seconds where he walked into a TV van donning a cowboy hat. That’s one surprise–but the real surprise is that this particular just-released Hot Toys Tony Stark Rose Hill figure is selling for $400+ online already!

As much as I loved Iron Man 3, I guiltily admit that I groaned when this 1/6 Rose Hill Tony Stark Hot Toys figure was announced. I didn’t think there was anything Hot Toys could make from Iron Man 3 that I wouldn’t buy, but obviously I was mistaken. As humorous as the scene with Robert Downey Jr. conversing with Gary the TV dude in the TV van was in the Iron Man 3 movie, I just don’t have any burning need to spend a couple hundred dollars on this particular iteration of Tony Stark.

That said, there are evidently plenty of people who are willing to pay hundreds of dollars for this variant figure–currently the Milk Magazine EX Rose Hill Tony Stark Hot Toys figure is selling for close to $500 on the aftermarket. Considering that this figure could have been import pre-ordered back in December for about $180 shipped to the United States, that quite an increase.

All that said, I wouldn’t panic just yet if you want your own Hot Toys Tony Stark Rose Hill exclusive figure and don’t want to pay $400-$500 for one. While the Milk Magazine Exclusive version with the Milk base is limited to just 300 pieces produced, I’ve heard that this figure should also be available at the Jakarta Toy Fair this month (without the Milk base, obviously), so that should help to bring prices down (especially if Hot Toys makes this limited Rose Hill Tony Stark figure available at more events later this spring).

At this time there is no word of the Rose Hill Tony Stark Hot Toys Iron Man 3 exclusive figure being released at all in the United States, and I honestly doubt that Sideshow Collectibles will be getting this particular figure. I’ll post an update if I hear otherwise about this not-quite-sought-after Rose Hill Tony Stark sixth scale figure.
