Yesterday I learned the identity of the much-talked-about August 2014 LootCrate Exclusive Funko POP! Vinyls figure. I then spent more hours than any sane person would wrestling with myself over whether or not to post spoilers for the LootCrate. Okay, so “eternal damnation” may have been a bit of hyperbole, but I know some people get seriously mad about spoilers. That said, by the time it would no longer be “spoilers” to post about this LootCrate Glow-in-the-Dark Groot POP! Vinyl figure, it would be too late for any collector out there who decides they want the GITD Groot to still order the LootCrate and get one. So, yeah. Spoilers. Sorry.

Anyway, I ordered my first-ever Loot Crate in July 2014 to get the highly-publicized LootCrate Rocket Raccoon #1 variant cover. That was a great Guardians of the Galaxy-themed exclusive. But this month’s Guardians of the Galaxy item…? Yeah–this is better.

The regular Funko Guardians of the Galaxy Groot POP! Vinyls figure (pictured above) has become a hot item on the aftermarket, as the sold-out Funko Groot sells for $35+ online now. So this is the perfect time for Funko to capitalize with an awesome variant of Groot!

Unlike the regular version, you can see that the Funko LootCrate exclusive Glow-in-the-Dark Groot figure will feature a green spray of “moss” on parts of his head and body, as well as a translucent glow-in-the-dark left hand! This is basically the coolest exclusive Groot that Funko could have possibly done, and Funko has executed it perfectly. I’m super-glad that it’s being distributed in a Loot Crate everyone can order instead of as a ridiculously difficult to get convention exclusive.

With the release of the Funko Groot LootCrate exclusive, that brings the grand total number of Funko Guardians of the Galaxy POP! Vinyls released to eight. The releases include this exclusive Funko GITD Groot, the exclusive Unmasked Star-Lord POP! Vinyl, the SDCC 2014 Exclusive Flocked Rocket Raccoon POP ! Vinyl, and the regular-release Funko POP! Vinyls Drax, Gamora, Groot, Rocket Raccoon and masked Star-Lord.

The regular Groot POP! Vinyl figure and the San Diego Comic Con 2014 Flocked Rocket Raccoon exclusive have both been hot on the secondary market, and I imagine this way-cool Loot Crate Groot Glow-in-the-Dark POP Vinyls figure is going to be tops on a lot of folks’ shopping lists as well.
