Marvel Legends Deadpool & X-Force Strong Guy Series Up for Order & Photos!

It was only a week and a half ago that Hasbro dropped a double-digit number of new pre-orders on us with the Spider-Man Retro Series and more, but already they’re prepped and ready to roll with a fresh round of solicits: the 2020 Marvel Legends Deadpool & X-Force Strong Guy Series is now up for order! We’ve been seeing dribbles of this wave revealed since Sunspot and Warpath at NYCC 2019, but finally the whole assortment has been revealed, including Shiklah and… Pirate Deadpool?!

Marvel Legends Strong Guy Series Figures Packaged

Hasbro had been planning to roll out the full reveal of the Marvel Legends 2020 X-Force/Deadpool series today for Marvel Monday, but alas, some leaked images hit the internet over the weekend and spoiled the surprise.

Out of respect to Hasbro, I chose not to share the leaks–but it’s now officially Marvel Monday, so let’s chat about what has turned out to be a very wacky and eclectic mix of figures in this year’s Deadpool/X-Force wave!

Marvel Legends Pirate Deadpool Figure

Let’s start with the two figures that were just confirmed via the leaked list this weekend. Marvel Legends Pirate Deadpool is, well… he’s another wacky and zany Deadpool variant. For any other character, this sort of variant would be ludicrous. But for Deadpool…? Yeah, it works.

Pirate Deadpool is fun and well-executed, although I do expect some griping from those who don’t like this sort of thing but need to buy him anyway since they’re building the Strong Guy figure.

Deadpool Marvel Legends Shiklah Figure with Jeff the Land Shark

The biggest “WTF” release in this set for fans not reading modern Deadpool comics is going to be Shiklah–AKA the ex-Mrs. Deadpool. The Queen of the Undead, Shiklah has divorced Wade and moved on to the greener pastures of Dracula now. Of the characters in this wave, I can see Shiklah easily being the one the least number of fans are pumped about. However…

Marvel Legends Jeff the Land Shark Figure from Shiklah Deadpool Legends

…the most redeeming part of this Marvel Legends Shiklah figure that sells her to many (besides the Strong Guy BAF Piece) is the totally unexpected inclusion of Jeff the Land Shark! Jeff was adopted by Gwenpool in the wildly underrated most recent West Coast Avengers series, and was willed over to Deadpool due to Gwenpool doubting she’d ever have a solo series again (no, seriously). I just love this. Thank you, Hasbro!

Deadpool X-Force Marvel Legends Black Tom Cassidy Figure

Marvel Legends Black Tom Cassidy (with a stick!) was revealed at Toy Fair in February, and while he’s not traditionally a fan-favorite villain, I think many collectors will want him to pair with their Juggernaut figure. I think Black Tom’s recent exposure on Jonathan Hickman’s Dawn of X X-Men run will help as well!

Marvel Legends Maverick Figure Strong Guy Series

Also revealed at NY Toy Fair was Maverick. Maverick has fallen out of the limelight a lot in the last decade or so, but he was very popular in the 90s and I can see this figure faring decently sales-wise. The paint on ML Maverick looks great, although I’m undecided on his costume add-on parts until I see them in person.

Marvel Legends Blue Deadpool X-Men Costume Figure Strong Guy Series

6″ X-Men Deadpool in blue costume is the other variation of Wade Wilson himself in this set, and comes with the severed head of Guido Carosella (for the Build-A-Figure Strong Guy). Hasbro has released this color scheme several times before over the years in various sizes, but as this is my personal favorite alternate costume for Deadpool, I’m not going to complain. I also won’t begrudge anyone who does feel the need to, though!

X-Force Marvel Legends Sunspot Figure

Rounding out the series are two core members of the original X-Force team: Sunspot and Warpath! I’ve been wanting a super-articulated upgrade of this Sunspot costume since Toybiz made theirs over 20 years ago, so I am totally psyched about this Sunspot! Perfect plastic rendition of this character, as far as I’m concerned.

Warpath Marvel Legends Strong Guy Series Figure

Warpath doesn’t look quite right to me, however. I really feel like he’s not buff enough here, and it’s throwing me off. The character has been drawn many different ways over the years in variations of this costume, which is probably what’s throwing me, but I just don’t quite love this figure. I’ll be buying him, mind you–but I think maybe Hasbro can do a better Marvel Legends Warpath for us in the future.

Marvel Legends Strong Guy Build-A-Figure SDCC 2019

The Marvel Legends Strong Guy Build-A-Figure is a humongous headliner for this wave, because Guido is near the very top of the list as far as fan-requested Build-A-Figures go–and has been for year after year now! The proportions and sculpt for the Strong Guy BAF are dead-on, and I just straight-up love figure. If we can get new versions of Multiple Man and Wolfsbane to complete Peter David’s X-Factor lineup, I will be a happy man!

Marvel Legends Strong Guy Series Figures Packaged

The Deadpool & X-Force Marvel Legends Strong Guy series is now up for order, and is scheduled to be released in fall 2020. This is likely to be one of the last full Build-A-Figure series we see released officially as part of the 2020 lineup, although Hasbro still has some Spider-Man/Venom related figures on the way as well that haven’t been fully revealed yet.

Now that you’ve seen the whole series, what do you think, Marvel collectors? Is this year’s Deadpool/X-Force Series a hit with you? What figures will you be buying, and is building the Strong Guy BAF a priority for you?

Marvel Legends Deadpool & X-Force Strong Guy Series Up for Order & Photos! — 11 Comments

  1. Just grabbing Tom, Sunspot, and Warpath. I’m somewhat patiently waiting on Rictor, Feral, and Siryn, and would love to see a new Stryfe and the MLF soon. At least Zero, Wildside, and Reaper. Wouldn’t hate Gideon, either. Can that just be a Stryfe BAF wave? No? Okay.

  2. Pretty excited for this wave. Love adding Black Tom to my X-villains group. And maverick! I know it’s a ridiculous 90’s character but loved him when he was a kid and his short lived solo series with art by a very young Jim Cheung. Hoping for another X-Force wave to finish off that team too.

  3. Ooh, Shiklah is a pleasant surprise for me. Loved that Deadpool run.

I dig pretty much every figure here (even if that isn’t my preferred Sunspot costume, but I’ll deal) except for maybe the X-Men costume Deadpool. The Pirate Deadpool gets a pass because it’s just so bonkers.

  4. Being inclined to the more classic characters, I’m pretty interested in Sunspot, Warpath, and Black Tom. Not remotely interested in anything else here. I also wish Sunspot could look more like his New Mutants version, but that would really just be a fully black plastic figure, about like the transluscent Doctor Strange that no one wanted to buy.

That Maverick guy looks alright. He was debuting in X-men just about the time I was giving up on comics, so I do remember him, but he’s got that 90’s look going. They might as well load him up with pouches and a pony tail. Considering I know nothing About Strong Guy other than that he looks silly to me and has the worst name imaginable, this isn’t a wave that’s going to get me to buy every figure whether I’m interested in them or not. The BAF can have complete control over my money for a wave, and this Guy isn’t Strong enough to make me think twice about it.

But hey, three figures I’m all in on isn’t bad for a wave considering how picky and snobby I am about what I buy.

  5. This is kind of a weird wave. Of course, I want Strong Guy to complete my X-Factor, even if the Walgreens version of Wolfsbane isn’t in her X-Factor suit. I was also a big fan of X-Force, so I definitely want Sunspot and Warpath. I do agree that Warpath looks weird, and something is off about him, but I still want to get him. Black Tom is “meh”, but he is a villain that I know well, so he will join my Juggernaut figure. I know nothing about Shiklah, but female villains are always welcome.

Pirate Deadpool, I have no interest in, but to get Strong Guy, I got to get him. X-Men Deadpool is the dud of the wave as everyone is sick of varients, and this is the last figure left on the pre-orders at Pulse. So, I preordered all but him, for now, as he won’t be hard to find. When I do get it, my son will have a Deadpool figure to play with.

  6. I find that people who complain about the wave are always the same people who are on social media saying “looking for this figure cheap” yeah sure. Iam not in any desire to buy more Deadpool. The pirate DP looks a bit like Captain Morgan from the Rum ad. It has been a long time since I have just brought a incomplete wave as I still have those bafs with missing limbs. So whole wave PO

  7. Doesn’t Warpath use daggers? He comes with an extra pair of gripping hands but no weapons.

  8. I don’t know why the comments aren’t more hyped. This is six new characters if you include the shark! Plus a new Warpath! The old Warpath, either variant, has been too prohibitively expensive to acquire for like a decade now. I am about this!

  9. I will likely grab Piratepool and Black Tom, maybe Sunspot and warpath but maybe not. It’s cool that there are 5 new characters in the wave (plus the BAF), even though I don’t have much attachment to many of them personally.

Seems like another Sauron wave where lots of folks want to complete the BAF but plan on selling off the wave figures. I’m not building Strong Guy so I’ll probably wait and see if I can score the figures I want for $10 or so

  10. Am I the only one really excited for Piratepool? The storyline he’s form is an absolute classic. Too bad we don’t get Bob in the Pirate costume. Jeff is a real unexpected surprise, he’ll go great with the Gwenpool figure.
