Marvel Minimates Infinity Box Set Figures Released! Thanos!

Earlier today I posted about the surprise set of Marvel Minimates Wave 19 Toys R Us Exclusive figures that’s going to be released later this month–but those aren’t the only new Marvel figures Diamond Select Toys has lined up for us before the end of the year! Way back in May 2014, DST held a vote to determine the four figures who would appear in the Marvel Minimates Infinity Box Set. The set went off-the-radar following the vote, but now Diamond Select has not only revealed the winning characters today–but the figure set itself has already begun to start hitting stores!

Marvel Minimates Infinity Box Set Thanos Thane Armored Hulk Space Captain America

I’m gonna be honest–I totally forgot that there had even been a Marvel Minimates Infinity box set vote earlier this year. Of the six characters in the vote–Space Captain America, Space Armor Iron Man, Thanos, Thane, Ronan the Accuser and Armored Hulk–five of the six had already been produced before in Marvel Minimates form. I didn’t particularly care for Thane or Jonathan Hickman’s “Infinity” crossover itself either, so I wasn’t too keen on the set.

That said, having been starved for new comic-based Marvel Minimates figures for much of 2014, this box set is looking a whole lot better to me now!  The four characters who won the vote and will be included in this box set are the Marvel Minimates Infinity Thanos, Thane, Armored Hulk and Space Suit Captain America figures.

Infinity Minimates Box Set of Figures Diamond Select ToysAs much as I like Fan’s Choice votes for box sets like this, “Infinity” wasn’t exactly the most beloved or best-selling Marvel crossover of the last few years, so I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see this set discounted in the near-future.

The Infinity Box Set will be available exclusively at Toys R Us starting in December 2014, and will be priced at $14.99 for the boxed set of four 2″ figures. I can always use an improved Thanos figure and a better version of Mark Waid’s armored Indestructible Hulk, so I’ll go ahead and pick up this set (which has actually already been sighted in stores, despite only being officially announced today), even though I’m not entirely psyched about Thane or Space Suit Captain America.

What do you think of the Toys R Us Exclusive Infinity Minimates box set, Marvel collectors? Are there any characters in this set that will compel you to buy it, or do you feel like this set is too full of rehashed characters to appeal to you?
