Marvel Super Hero Mashers Series 3: Ghost Rider! Deadpool! Iceman!

Marvel Super Hero Mashers definitely are not my favorite action figure line of 2014. In general, they’re a bit too “kiddie” for me, and I wasn’t totally in love with the character selection for the first series. That said, Hasbro may have won me over–just a little bit–with their Toy Fair 2014 Marvel Super Hero Mashers Series 3 reveals. As if Hasbro went into my brain and pulled out four characters that would be ideal lures for me, at last week’s New York Toy Fair 2014 Hasbro debuted the Marvel Mashers Deadpool, Iceman, Red Hulk and Ghost Rider figures!

2014 Toy Fair Marvel Mashers Ghost Rider

A kid-driven line such as Marvel Superhero Mashers was always going to divide adult collectors of Marvel action figures–but if Hasbro can keep up with some of the cool design aesthetics and fan-favorite character selection of Marvel Mashers Series 3, I honestly think that they can win over a decent portion of the Marvel collectors out there.

My favorite figure in Marvel Super Hero Mashers Wave 3–and the whole line thus far–is the Marvel Mashers Ghost Rider figure. The bulky Mashers style black leather outfit with the translucent flaming head is a knockout combo, and I can see a lot of Marvel fans making this the only Marvel Superhero Mashers figure that they buy.

Marvel Super Hero Mashers Ghost Rider FigurePoor Ghost Rider doesn’t get a lot of merch since his second movie bombed (which was so bad that even I can’t defend it), but I’m glad he’s appearing in this line. I love the color gradient on Ghost Rider’s flaming chain–it looks awesome.

Marvel Mashers Series 3 Deadpool FigureThe highlight of Marvel Super Hero Mashers Series 3, from a popularity perspective, is definitely the Marvel Super Hero Mashers Deadpool figure. Kids, casual fans, die-hard comic book readers–everybody loves Deadpool.

Marvel Mashers Deadpool Toy Fair 2014I’m not sure that I entirely understand the logic of sticking shurikens on one’s knees, but if anyone was going to do something that wacky, it would probably be Deadpool.

Hasbro 2014 Toy Fair Deadpool Marvel Super Hero Mashers Wave 3Am I the only one who thinks that there may be some potential for a “Deadpool gets a symbiote” storyline in the Deadpool comic books? Deadpool with that humongous Venom arm just looks right to me.

Marvel Mashers Series 3 Red Hulk FigureNext up–Red Hulk. Though it’s been years since Red Hulk was the hottest thing going at Marvel (back when Red Hulk was totally invincible regardless of what iconic hero, villain or Watcher he went up against), I still prefer the Red Hulk character design to the classic green Hulk.

Hasbro Marvel Mashers Red Hulk 2014 Toy FairWith the “Hulk Agents of S.M.A.S.H.” cartoon series going strong right now, I’m hopeful that Red Hulk’s popularity will be on the rise again, though I doubt he’ll ever reach the insane level of popularity he had before it was revealed he was old General “Thunderbolt” Ross.

Toy Fair 2014 Marvel Super Heroes Mashers Red HulkI don’t believe we’ve had a Marvel Super Hero Mashers Colossus announced yet, but the Colossus pieces in this series make it pretty obvious that one is on the way.

Marvel Mashers Iceman Series 3 Action FigureFinally, we’ve got another X-Men entry: Marvel Superhero Mashers Series 3 Iceman! I’m a total mark for clear plastic Iceman figures, making this one of my favorite Hasbro Marvel Mashers figures revealed thus far. The translucent ice blast accessory looks really fun, too.

Iceman Mashers Figure at 2014 Toy FairUnfortunately, the translucent blue plastic Iceman Mashers action figure looks pretty terrible mixed with parts from the other Mashers figures. That’s fine with me, though–if I buy Iceman, it’ll be because he looks slick enough that I want him for himself and not to mix up with other action figures.

New York Toy Fair 2014 Iceman Marvel Superhero MashersMarvel Super Hero Mashers Wave 3 is expected to be released in Fall 2014. Has Hasbro managed to win you over at all with this latest upcoming Marvel Mashers reveals from Toy Fair 2014, Marvel collectors? Or is not even Iceman as cold as this line is leaving you?

  1. I think the Marvel Mashers are a fun toyline for kids. As a collector, I do appreciate the sculpting and I’ve picked up the first 2 waves and now I have eyes on Deadpool for sure.

  2. I just bought Dr Doom and Spiderman, but now there are two more on my list:
    Ghost rider and Deadpool.
Who knows, Iceman’s involvement in the Ultimate Spider-Verse might even get him a spot.
    Red hulk, Not so cool.

  3. I was won over on day 1. “No one may touch Doom!” LOL-@ $10 good old days legends prices, I couldn’t resist buying these by the armload to build Hml
Dr.Doom an army of Doombots! Yeah, Ironman & Ironpatriot came along for the ride too. I plan on buying Falcon and Venom. I’ve got way too many Deadpools already, so he’s a pass as well as the Rulk. However, A warm or ..er..uh..,cool welcome to the Ghost and Mr. Drake! Clear plastic? Thas Hot! And Cool like that!

  4. Way to go Hasbro… ’bout time. Tho im not a fan of DeadPool or Bobby Drake, i will be picking up as many as posible!

  5. Should have $20 in new TRU rewards tomorrow. Will use Walmart.com price matches and $8 peel-off coupon to get Thor, Hawkeye, and Dr. Doom for pretty close to free. From Series 3, Ghost Rider looks pretty cool.

  6. Hasbro, if your going to come out with a motorcycle series for these mashers. Why wasn’t ghost riders motorcycle a part of the series. It’s iconic and I think would be a best seller. Just a thought.
