NYCC 2018: Marvel Legends Jubilee & Night Thrasher!

Hasbro had plenty of major reveals at their New York Comic Con 2018 Press Event yesterday, but the one that just about brought me to tears is one that was actually revealed on a Marvel livestream: at long last, the first-ever 90s Jim Lee Marvel Legends Jubilee Figure is coming our way next year! And oh yeah—looks like it’s time to start a new team, as Night Thrasher is on the way as well…

Ever since I was a ten year-old small tyke, I’ve been wanting a really great action figure of Jubilee in her costume from the 1992 X-Men animated series. Toybiz let me down by releasing a hideous Generation X Jubilee and then another Jubilation Lee figure in a completely made-up costume, but in the 2019 Marvel Legends X-Men Caliban Series, the bubble gum-blowing yellow jacket and blue shorts Jubilee Marvel Legends figure will finally appear!

She’s joining the other figures announced for the 2019 X-Men Legends wave, making the known lineup as follows:

  • Gambit
  • Jubilee
  • Blink
  • Forge
  • Skullcruncher
  • Caliban Build-A-Figure

We should have 1-2 more figures still to be revealed for this wave, which Hasbro mentioned at the press event we’d be learning “soon”. The wave is scheduled for release in Q2 2019.

Meanwhile, the Rich Rider Nova six inch figure released in the Guardians of the Galaxy Legends series years ago is finally going to get a friend (from a different costume era, but beggars can’t be choosers): Marvel Legends Night Thrasher!

Dwayne Taylor is the newest addition to the Q1 2019 Spider-Man Legends Kingpin Series, and the first classic ML New Warriors member (presuming you don’t count the Annihilation Nova figure).

I can already tell that belt add-on piece is going to flop around and drive me nuts, but otherwise Night Thrasher is loooking very nice. Now, can we get a Speedball, Hasbro? Pleeeeease?

I’m still on the floor taking photos at New York Comic Con 2018, but you can find the rest of my photos on the Marvel Toy News Twitter, Facebook and Instagram pages. I’ll be updating the site with more detailed photos and write-ups over the weekend, so stand by for those.

What do you think of Jubilee and Night Thrasher, Marvel collectors? Are these the definitive action figures of these characters you’ve been waiting for, or do you wish that the 90s had kept this classic duo?

NYCC 2018: Marvel Legends Jubilee & Night Thrasher! — 16 Comments

  1. I’m just thinking, “you poor boy, growing up with the Jubilee X-men team and thinking that was cool.”

  2. I’ll get Gambit and Forge, but to me, Caliban is a skinny little whiner, not a muscle-bound tank, so I’m not interested in the BAF at all. Interested to see what other figures might be in the line-up though for this wave.

    • yeah i guess i’m out of the loop but i’ve never seen Caliban depicted like that.. i’m used to his appearance in the Paul Smith and JR jr X-Men. Not a bad looking BAF but left me confused.

      • Not sure where you’ve been but Caliban has been a muscle head since the early 90s. That’s a nearly 30 years coma you’ve been in bro.

    • I’ll still probably end up getting the BAF as I like most of the wave (save for the Reavers character) and I like to support the X-men (they’re my jam) but yea I’m right there with ya: I prefer my Caliban as the skinny Morlock.

  3. Whoo hoo…a classic JUBILEE finally!! I love the X-men cartoon so this is a great addition to my collection. I’m hoping for FIRESTAR and a young Vance Astro as well.

  4. I know Hasbro has said differently in the past, but if the SM line is being used to introduce New Warriors characters, is it possible we get Firestar?

  5. If those are the only confirmed figures for the X-Men wave, where do Guardian, Mystique, Wendigo, and Weapon X fit in? Is there a Wolverine-specific wave coming out this year?

    • Mystique is an exclusive. Weapon X is in the Caliban Wave. Wendigo and Guardian are in a fall 2019 Wave.

    • I read somewhere an Emma Frost is also in the works, but in her black/Bachalo costume, that I suppose would go nicely with (the other Walgreens Exclusive) Magik. Though I’m not a fan of that…we need a “White” Queen first before that crap. Of course there’s also the (what looks like) Quicksilver from the 3d rendered tease they provided from SDCC, along with the Magneto helmet tease. So as far as Walgreens exclusives go we potentially have Magik, Mystique, Emma (?), Quicksilver (?), Magneto (?) along with the EE exclusive Archangel. Could Quicksilver and Magneto be part of a Brotherhood of Evil Mutants 3-pack with Wanda? Any other rumours?

      • There’s a Walgreens inventory screenshot that has Emma listed (along with Infamous Iron Man) – I saw it on the Transformers boards mentioning the WG exclusive Ratchet figure

  6. Not really into either of these guys, although Jubilee looks pretty good! Happy for fans of these characters. i’m sure hasbro will be making plenty of other figures that are more up my alley.
