SDCC 2014 Marvel Legends 2015 Thanos Coulson Maria Hill Photos!

Hasbro unquestionably brought their ‘A’-Game to San Diego Comic Con 2014, where they silenced critics by announcing a veritable blockbuster assortment of characters for their 2015 Marvel Legends Avengers Infinite Series 6″ figures line. And at the SDCC 2014 Hasbro Marvel Panel, they took their impressiveness even further. While Avengers Marvel Legends Wave 1 will be entirely comic-based, Marvel Legends 2015 Avengers Wave 2 will be a mix of comic and movie characters, and bring us super-articulated Marvel Legends Maria Hill, Agent Coulson, Nick Fury… and the the first-ever Marvel Legends Thanos Build-A-Figure!

Hasbro SDCC 2014 Spider-Woman Marvel Legends 2015 Figures Avengers Series 2Just to recap: San Diego Comic Con 2014 Preview Night brought us the Marvel Legends Radioactive Man, Ms. Marvel and Captain America Three-Pack. On SDCC 2014 Day 1, Hasbro unveiled the majority of the Marvel Legends 2015 Avengers Series 1 (headlined by a totally awesome Captain Marvel Carol Danvers!), and on SDCC 2014 Day 2 we got our first look at Marvel Legends Iron Fist, King Thor and Classic Hawkeye.

With all those figures already revealed, the genuine question arose as to whether or not Hasbro could top themselves at their San Diego Comic Con 2014 Hasbro Marvel Panel. But as it turned out, Hasbro saved some of their best reveals for the panel!

SDCC 2014 Hasbro Marvel Legends Thanos Build-A-Figure

First and foremost, the superstar headliner of 2015 Marvel Legends Avengers Wave 2 is the Thanos Build-A-Figure that fans have been demanding for years! It’s almost unthinkable, but despite the fact that we’re several hundred figures into the Marvel Legends toy line, Thanos has never been released by Hasbro or Toybiz in the 6″ Marvel Legends scale before.

This is obviously a more modern Thanos Marvel Legends figure, which is just fine since the outstanding Marvel Select Thanos figure is classic Thanos and would be extremely hard for Hasbro to top. There’s never been a modern Thanos action figure produced by any company before, and Hasbro has done a terrific job on him! If ever there was a Build-A-Figure that could guarantee collectors would buy every figure from a series, it’s this Thanos. Good work, Hasbro!

SDCC 2014 Marvel Legends 2015 Hellcat Figure Avengers Wave 2Also from the comics side of the Marvel Universe, Hasbro showed off prototypes of a new Marvel Legends Spider-Woman figure and a Marvel Legends Hellcat figure.

Spider-Woman is such a mainstay of the current Marvel comics universe that I’m not surprised to see her making a return appearance, but the Hellcat Marvel Legends figure was a real shocker. I’ve grown quite fond of Hellcat from her appearances in Charles Soule’s She-Hulk comic book, so I’m happy to see her finally get her due in 6″ figure form!

SDCC 2014 Hasbro Marvel Legends Maria Hill Figure Marvel Legends 2015 Avengers Wave 2And from the Marvel movies and television universe, it’s a trio of SHIELD characters who are long overdue to appear in a main Marvel Legends figure line! We’ve had a Maria Hill Marvel Legends figure before, believe it or not (she was in the Toys R Us Exclusive Marvel Legends two-packs years ago), but this is the first Cobie Smulders Marvel Legends Maria Hill figure ever.

I think Hot Toys really missed the boat by not doing a Hot Toys Maria Hill figure, but I will happily pick this Hasbro 6″ Maria Hill up for my collection.

SDCC 2014 Hasbro Marvel Legends Avengers Wave 2 Nick Fury Figure Samuel Jackson

We’ve had a Samuel Jackson Nick Fury Marvel Legends figure before as well, but never in a non-exclusive wave of Marvel Legends figures. He looks decent (though I’m getting tired of that trenchcoat mold), but my real excitement is for another member of S.H.I.E.L.D.–Agent Phil Coulson!

Coulson has been omitted entirely from the Marvel Legends line up until now, but in 2015 Marvel Legends Coulson will finally take his rightful place in the Hasbro Marvel 6″ figures universe! I’m a huge Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. fan, so Agent Coulson would be my runaway favorite figure in this series if Thanos wasn’t in it. Even so, I am psyched beyond words that a 6″ Clark Gregg figure will be on my desk next year.

SDCC 2014 Marvel Legends Avengers Agent Phil Coulson Figure 2015Marvel Legends Avengers Infinite Series Wave 2 is scheduled to be released in Spring 2015. I’ll post updates on the series as Hasbro reveals more details about it (such as swap figures and case packs), and you can ‘Like’ Marvel Toy News on Facebook to have news and photos sent right to your Facebook Newsfeed.

Thoughts on the Avengers Marvel Legends 2015 Wave 2 assortment, Marvel collectors? Are you liking what you’ve seen so far, or does the inclusion of so many non-powered characters leave you a bit bored with this series?

  1. I am happy with all of the new ML offering but I have to say that I am livid about them cutting out articulation on the 3.75 series especially after we have been getting it the way we have these past few years. And then they give a classic bs excuse saying they are evolving the line, bs. They are just cutting back and still charging us the same amount of money. My fellow collectors, don’t accept this and make excuses for them, it is not ok. They already charge outrageous prices for these legends and keep cheating out on us with cheap plastic and now articulation on the 3.75 series and then they keep raising the damn price. If we keep letting then get away with this it’s only going to get worse. As much as I am happy about getting beast and bishop that is all taken away when I look and see the difference compared to what we have been getting. How is this going to look displayed with the rest of the collection? This is ridiculous and we should all write hasbro and keep complaining. Bishop looks terrible!!!

  2. I really feel like it is the collectors who are bought by hasbro. They are bought by hasbro giving them characters they want so they are willing to overlook the cutbacks and be like,” we’ll they are giving me beast so I guess it’s ok”. This is the problem. I really dislike the people behind this, they are greedy pigs that really don’t care about us as collectors. David Vonner cared, Dwight stall is a crook who does not care, we’ll at least not about the 3.75 line. I wish I could get more people on board with me because this is unacceptable. I really hate hasbro right now. They are not handleing the collector lines right at all. On top of that they can keep those junk movie figures. The fact that these lines solely exist and coincide with the movies goes to show you all that hasbro truly cares about. Right now I am giving hasbro the middle finger.

    • I couldn’t care less about the dinky 3.75 marvel universe figs, as far as I’m concerned they need not even exist, period. And as for your f the movie legends figures remark you’re overlooking the fact that ever since Avengers nearly every legends line has been movie based! I’m just one person but I enjoy the movie figs as much and in alot of cases more than comic based legends. If it weren’t for movie figs, at least at this point in time, we wouldn’t have figs like Sam Jackson Fury, modern Loki, modern Black Widow and the modern Nova! Without the movie figs dollars to fill Hasbro’s pockets we’d have none of these awesome figs as well as all the ones I failed to mention. So if you dislike this direction so much then do us all a favor and put your money where your mouth is. No literally, put it in your mouth! So bs like that can’t come out of it. And for gods sake don’t waste it on these putrid movie Legend figs! More for the REAL COLLECTORS!

  3. I’m all for the Coulson figure (have grown to dig that character more and more as the cinematic/television material has made him increasingly relevant, not to mention his inclusion in the current run of Secret Avengers – thanks, Clark Gregg). Maria Hill and Sam Jackson-Fury are gonna be nice accompaniments to it, as well (looks like they are going to get some mileage out of the Black Widow/Red Skull casts from the recent Cap line with those figures). Kinda feel like there will be some paint embellishments/enhancements to those figures before they see shelves, though. Certain aspects seem to be incomplete or needing additional touches to give them a bit more “life”.

  4. Love this wave, but that Fury buck goes way back Joe – not just the RS recast. It was originally released iirc as the Toybiz 2 pack with WWII cap. Odin and Thanos! Finally, these 2 needed ML releases for the longest time and while I love my MS Thanos it’s articulation was definitely hindering it’s poses. Can’t wait for Coulson and Hill. The only one I’m kinda meh on is Fury as I already have his Cap First Avenger release, but I know that was a limited release so I’m happy for all of you who missed out on it the first time.

    • Ah, ok. I’m newer to the Legends collecting hobby, so I didn’t have that history. Just looked that two-pack up, and you’re totally right.

  5. I commend the Marvel-Hasbro staff for their patience in fending off questions about “why was there no Thanos in the THANOS Imperative SDCC exclusive boxset”? I hit them pretty hard with that question (as well as many others including the “female with the most vital build a figure piece always being shortpacked” question) and they handled it like troopers every day since Preview night. The reveal of Thanos as a build a figure the middle of next year was an incredible surprise for me. I made sure I let them know that they did a wonderful job and that if we can flood them with complaints, we should tell them when the do well too.

    • What did they say about the female short packing?

Before you answer I don’t believe the females are short packed. Most characters are short packed. Only one figure really has two per case.

      • We were told female figures definitely move slower. This is based on boys’ preferences as opposed to collectors’. This is why Hasbro purposely puts the central pieces (the torso) of build a figures with female figures. They feel if one wishes to complete their build a figure, they’ll purchase the female in order to get the piece needed. Makes sense from a business standpoint. Even though I hate having to pay blood sucking scalpers their outrageous prices (and due to their pillaging of the pegs renders Hasbro’s reasonings moot) I do understand their philosophy.

  6. I can’t wait for the Coulson, Fury and Hill figures, although I’d have rather had a different character than another Spider-Woman figure. I’ve been waiting for a modern Mockingbird figure since she got her new costume.

    • The S.H.I.E.L.D agents are going to be in their own 3 pack as a store exclusive. Which store is still unknown.

  7. Yo Dabid you still around? Sent you 2 emails but no reply 🙁
I’m hoping it’s anything but Walmart. From my days of hunting back home I used to never find anything but the peg warmers there, Target and even K-mart were much better.

  8. Well where not getting a lot movie series action figures because comic book collector’s keep asking for more comic book series action figures, this is now the Marvel Cinematic Universe,so we collectors should be focused on MCU action figures or X men movie series figures not comic book figures. But Hasbro is not making any plans for X men movie figures because not all fans are asking for them and that goes for The Avengers we still need Ronan,Whiplash,Red skull, Odin,Lady Sid and the worries three from the movie series and if possible how about a Tony stark,Bruce banner, and how about thier women,Pepper Potts, Peggy Carter,Betty rose. This should be like when spider man came out back in 2002 where we got a whole bunch of figures of spider man even a Norman Osborn, and Mary Jane! But now we just get main characters because mostly all comic book fans want comic book series figures and let’s face it the prices on the action figures got higher so we should be getting better figures! We have start asking for more movie series action figures so we can get more characters and the villains or else it would be like The Guardian’s of the galaxy we have the guardian’s but we have no Ronan so that means no purpose in teaming them up because thiers no threat. We should focus more on the Marvel Cinematic Universe action figures and demand for more movie series figures.

    • Speak for yourself but I can guarantee you that you are in the minority as far as wanting movie figures. Have fun with that crap

  9. guess what? Hot Toys just announced a Maria Hill 1/6th figure that will be shown at San Diego Comic Con 2015.
