Toy Fair: Marvel Legends 2020 Fan Vote Poll & Hasbro Livestream!

New York Toy Fair 2020 begins in just four days! And while various leaks have already started popping up (like that 6″ GI Joe Declassified line and the GameStop Exclusive Marvel Legends Outback Hulk), we won’t have to wait much longer for Hasbro to play all their cards. And this year, non-attendees will be able to enjoy the festivities for the first time ever: the Hasbro Presentation will be streamed live from the show! And that’s not all! Get ready, because the 2020 Marvel Legends Fan’s Choice Poll launches this weekend as well…

Hasbro 2020 Toy Fair Media Brands Entertainment Event

Every year for I can’t remember how long, I saunter down to chilly New York City in mid-February to attend the International New York Toy Fair, which is headlined by the off-site Hasbro Brands Media Presentation where tons of new upcoming toys are revealed for Transformers, Marvel, My Little Pony, Power Rangers and more.

While we can take photos of the new toys in the showroom after the presentation for our coverage, we’ve never been permitted to take any photos or videos of the presentation itself, so it’s remained a bit of an enigma to collectors… until now!

I received a surprise E-Mail from Hasbro PR last night announcing that this year’s presentation during Toy Fair is actually going to be live-streamed on the Hasbro Pulse Facebook Page! Yowza!! That definitely puts a different spin on things this year, and is also going to drive crazy amounts of new fans to the Hasbro Pulse Facebook Page! Good call, Hasbro!

Marvel Legends Fan Vote 2020 Toy Fair ImageAnd while we still don’t have any indication of specifically what sorts of new Marvel Legends items may be premiering at the show (beyond that GamerVerse Outback Hulk Legends figure, anyway), we also now know that the Marvel Legends 2020 Fan Vote will open up online during Toy Fair!

Marvel Legends 2020 Fan Vote Poll Choice Silk She-HulkStarting February 22nd at 3PM, collectors will be able to vote once per day on the Hasbro Pulse website until 9AM on the 28th in order to choose which figure will be available for order in summer 2020.

Marvel Legends Fan Vote 2020 Options Lady Sif

The marketing images for the Fan Vote all clearly show off silhouettes of Elektra, Silk and Lady Sif–all characters who have had figures released in recent years–but it’s unclear what variations of those characters these could be, or if these are all the choices that will be available in the vote (or even if these are vote choices at all!). This poll is still rather mysterious, but at least we only have four more days to wait for all the details!

2020 Fan Vote Poll OptionAs usual, I’ll be in NYC for Toy Fair this weekend, and I’ll be splitting my live coverage between the Marvel Toy News Facebook, Instagram and Twitter pages. I always take thousands of photos at the show from various companies, so be sure to follow the various MTN social media pages if you don’t want to miss anything.

What are your thoughts on this revolutionary shift in the way Hasbro presents their Toy Fair news, Marvel collectors? Are you psyched to be able to watch the proceedings from the comfort of your home? And if Silk, Lady Sif and Elektra are the choices for the Fan’s Choice poll, which are you hoping wins and in what costume?

Toy Fair: Marvel Legends 2020 Fan Vote Poll & Hasbro Livestream! — 30 Comments

  1. You’re telling me after all the other voting that occured, mine included, that out all the possible characters mentioned, it’s going to come down to 3 characters who’ve already had their turns at having figures made of them? And in Elektra’s case, multiple versions???? Such bullshit.
I know not everyone’s going to agree on these things. That’s the nature of personal choices and biases, but I’m sure as collectors we can ALL agree that it’d be more fair if characters that HAVEN’T had their opportunity to be made yet, deserve priority over those who’ve already been made. I’m sure the excuse will be, “Well those 3 were overwhelmingly voted on”, blah blah, or “Well it’s cheaper for Hasbro to go with those 3 because we already have pre-existing molds and all that” blah blah. Lame.

    • I agree…it needs to be characters who have not yet been made!! If these are the only three choices then this is a crock!

    • I hope is Elektra with Two Alternate Heads From Movie and TV Series one with Jennifer Garner and Élodie Yung

  2. I don’t know anything about Silk, but would she have a different costume in this one? I don’t condone re-releasing old figures just because they go for big bucks. Collecting is boring if you can’t have something that everyone else wants.

Anyway, these polls really stink. I think Songbird won the last one, so that shows you how good these are at judging popularity. That’s the only figure to be found at my local Walmart.

    • I’ve to disagree. Songbird was one of my favorite releases in recent years. I think these polls are aimed at die-hard fans and collectors, people who often don’t buy their figures at Walmart (heck, we don’t even have those over here in Europe). Nothing wrong with Walmart as such, but I think the buyers are not necessarily representative for the typical Marvel Legends fan base. The charm of this line, since way back to the Toybiz days, has always been the mix of A-list characters and more obscure ones that might be rather unknown to the general public. If it were up to me, there would be even less known characters in each wave, but I can perfectly understand that from a sales perspective, Hasbro needs to put a Spidey or the 178th version of Iron Man in each wave.

  3. For a minute there I thought the Lady Sif image was the new Betsy Braddock version of Captain Britain and I got really excited … Not so much now …

  4. Lame. We need FIRESTAR, LADY DEATHATRIKE, DEATHBIRD, LILANDRA, CALLISTO and a 6 inch G.I Joe Scarlet

    • Marvel Legends should really delve into G.I. Joe. After all, G.I. Joe was one of the most popular Marvel comics during its run and there is existing toolling that could make several figures like Scarlet and, with the most recent wave, Quick Kick (Shang Chi).

        • Yeah, I saw… the “Classified” line… and the Snake Eyes figure looked pretty awesome as well as the packaging. Hoping the price is awesome, too. But a lot of folks forget or don’t know the history of G.I. Joe and Marvel and the fact that the G.I. Joe comic was the first to be advertised on television and that several of the characters were based on Marvel superheroes/villains. Scarlet is essentially Black Widow. I loved those comics and I remember when it “jumped the shark” in the early ’90s when they just tried to do TOO much.

          • The problem is that any GI Joes between 3 3/4″ and 12″ look like off brand action figures. I don’t think these will sell very well.

I wouldn’t mind seeing the original line in 1:12 scale if they had removable clothing. Hasbro could save a bundle on sculpting and material.

          • @Mister X. I think you definitely have a point especially given history. That G.I. Joe Sigma Six line was mediocre at best and looked way off.

  5. I gotta say, I assume those are just placeholder images and not the choices on the poll. Unless this year’s poll is “which figure do you want re-released as part of a retro line” or something dumb like that.

  6. If the list doesn’t include Jack of Hearts, Stingray, and Safari Jacket Wonder Man, I’ll pass on the media blitz until Toy Fair is over. Even a repaint of Beast with a George Perez head would be a surprise for me, but Hasbro is pretty much catering to 90s and MCU/Modern Style fans nowadays, so more power to those guys and gals. Enjoy!

    • Holy crappola! I didn’t realize how much I want a safari jacket Wonder Man until you mentioned it. Myself, I want a couple more Alpha Flight or Omega Flight characters to keep padding that area of my collection.

  7. If I have to pick between the three then Lady Sif. I have 2 versions of Elektra already and could care less about Silk personally.

  8. Lady Sif, no doubt. If those were the choices. A figure faithful to her look during the Walter Simonson run would rule all the realms.

  9. I’d personally be down with a reissue of Silk. Missed out on her when she first came out and there’s no way I’m paying the increased prices.

That said, these choices for the Fan Poll would be pretty lackluster. I’d definitely would rather have figures of characters that haven’t been done yet, like, off the top of my head, Firestar, Purple Girl, or Blue Marvel.

  10. I’m pretty sure those are just placeholders. They aren’t going to release any info until the 22nd. I don’t think they’d make the silhouettes that obvious.

I’m hoping to see Classics of the Infinity Watch, (which started my comic collection), anybody from the New Warriors….especially Firestar, and I’d love to see a bunch of 2099 characters!

  11. They could do white costume Elektra, and white costume Silk. Don’t know how they would do a repaint of Sif since I’m not super familiar with her costume variations over the years..

I agree that the figures should be characters that haven’t been released yet though. There are still a ton of mainstays that haven’t been touched.

  12. I don’t know if those are placeholders. We’ve never had a comic Sif. The profile looks like Lady Loki, although the headpiece is different, and I don’t think she came with hands that could hold a sword (which is the wrong hilt for Sif).
