X-Men Marvel Legends Juggernaut & Iceman In-Hand Photos!

From what I’ve been hearing both from retailers and fellow collectors, it sounds like the X-Men Marvel Legends 2016 Series may be far and away the fastest-selling and hottest Hasbro Marvel Legends series ever. And so, since many fans seem to have an insatiable appetite for hearing more about this wave, today let’s take a look at some in-hand photos and impressions of the new Marvel Legends Iceman and Juggernaut Build-A-Figure…

Marvel Legends Juggernaut Build-A-Figure Running

As soon as I heard the rumor that the Juggernaut might be the X-Men Legends Build-A-Figure, I groaned a little bit. The Toybiz Juggernaut and Marvel Select Juggernaut are already phenomenal toys, so could a new version of Cain Marko really bring enough to the table to not feel superfluous?

As it turns out, the answer is “yes”. Yes, he can. In fact, I daresay that this Juggernaut BAF is easily my favorite Build-A-Figure that we’ve seen Hasbro reveal all year thus far.

Hasbro Marvel Legends Juggernaut Size Comparison with Toybiz VersionFirst off, even though the Juggernaut Toybiz ML figure was an absolute monster size-wise back in the day, it turns out that the Hasbro Juggernaut BAF is actually bigger than Toybiz’s. Whodathunkit?

Marvel Legends Juggernaut Size Comparison PhotoNot only that, but the colors on the 2016 Marvel Legends Juggernaut looks much less washed-out and more accurate to the comic book appearances of Juggs than the old Toybiz version does.

Juggernaut Build-A-Figure X-Men Marvel Legends RunningFoot articulation often ends up being a shortcoming on large Build-A-Figures, but Juggernaut’s ankle has a truly fantastic range of motion that lets him get into tons of dynamic poses.

Yes, believe it or not, the bulky Juggernaut Marvel Legends action figure can actually get into a one-legged, running pose and still stand up stably! Amazing!!

X-Men Legends Wolverine vs Juggernaut Build A Figure Size ComparisonJuggs even towers over brown costume Wolverine, just the way I remember him doing in the classic Chris Claremont X-Men comic books.

Marvel Legends X-Men Iceman Figure In-HandIn addition to Juggernaut–one of the most-hyped figures in the X-Men wave–I also want to discuss one of the least-hyped figures: Iceman.

X-Men Legends Iceman Figure BackWhile we’ve had a number of Marvel Legends Iceman 6″ scaled figures over the years, it’s been a few years since our last Bobby Drake.

Iceman Marvel Legends 2016 6 Inch Figure PosedThis time out, Hasbro is giving us a very modern Iceman design, which reminds me of his look from the “Wolverine and the X-Men” comic book series.

Marvel Legends 2016 Iceman vs Sentinel Build-A-FigureIf the Iceman Marvel Legends action figure looks familiar to you, it’s because he reuses the body mold would from the popular Pizza Spidey figure Hasbro released in 2015, but with one improvements–Hasbro fixed the issues with the hip joint on the mold! Thanks, Hasbro!!

Iceman X-Men Legends Figure with Ice Effects Piece Removed

Because he’s made of translucent plastic, the Iceman figure is soft and gummy (as tends to be the case when clear plastic is used) and Bobby can be a little bit of a pain to pose and get into a balanced position.

Even so, his very unique, angular appearance makes him one of the coolest (pun intended) figures this year. I love the sculpting on his feet! (There’s something I don’t say every day.) In addition, his “back spikes” can be unplugged and placed near the figure as a sort of ice effects piece.

Marvel Legends X-Men Iceman Six Inch Figure versus Sentinel BAFThe Marvel Legends X-Men Iceman figure is still available for order individually online, and is expected to ship out within a month. I’ve heard that this wave is basically sold out at the manufacturer level at this point, so don’t hesitate on any figures you want from this series–I don’t expect this set to be one that hangs around in stores for long.

Big thanks to Josh F. and Arman M. for sending in their photos and impressions of these highly-anticipated X-Men figures!

Now that you’ve had a chance to see a bit more of them, what do you think of the newest Juggernaut and Iceman figures on the block, Marvel collectors? Will these be replacing the old versions in your collection, or are you sticking with the classics?

      • EE. Delivery today! Whole set looks great and no damages to any figure. I am so glad I went for the EE pre-order. Thanks for all your help Dabid. You saved me time a money with your post’s about EE

        • I got mine from EE yesterday too. oh my god are they beautiful. One surprise for me is Cable. Gorgeous. I am going through them one by one.

  1. These look AMAZING and I can’t wait to get my hands on the whole wave!!

  2. Ok, for me the replace or not is as follows: Juggernaut is a replace, but the toybiz version just gets a new home. Deadpool is a big replace over the twopack version, which was a poor stand-in for the Doop version anyway. Kitty is one of my top needs for replacement as her old figure is just awkward and her head never fit right. Cable just doesn’t have enough pouches, but I’ll have to get him in hand before I can decide. Wolverine… yup, another wolverine… I think his proportions are off on this one though, storage. This Havok is another one I’d have to get in hand, the head sculpt on the old one is fantastic, and the new body just looks too bulky to me for Havok. I’ve never been a fan of Jean as Phoenix so she’d be an add, but won’t replace the Clairmont Jean for me. Rogue looks good and will likely replace the old X-Men box set version if only I don’t have to look at those hip joints or if she can hold a pose better. This Iceman is a big big improvement over the First Class abomination and is far better with the Pizza Spidey mold than the old bulgy-yet-floppy toybiz mold.

So thats five replaces, one storage, one add, and two “have to have it in hand.” Thats a pretty big score for a wave these days.

  3. This wave is perfection! Every single one is an upgrade. My Rogue is amazing and damn near flawless. Her paint apps for the face are way beyond anything I expected! This wave was the most fun I had opening up marvel legends in a long time. So happy to get my set in the mail today!

  4. any idea when these will hit retail (i.e., target, toys r us, etc.)? i live in milwaukee and it seems like our stores never end up getting the newer marvel legends.

    • NOT Any time soon! That’s for sure. If we didn’t see the BAF Giant Man on the Shelves til late. Than this one is sure to be even later. With the way it sold out on line and Amazon. Amazon had to push back its release date to August.
Which is kind of bad. Scalpers are going to make out big time on Deadpool and Wolverine for the rest of the month.

  5. This wave is phenomenal. I got my set last Friday and each figure looks amazing. I haven’t even open them yet because they look flawless. I’m really impress by the quality of the paint apps and overall quality of the figures. I highly recommend getting them as a set. I was like a giddy 6 year old when I opened it. I’d say Cable is pretty underrated but he looks amazing.

    • Is your set in your pile of loot? I’ve heard that BBTS has already begun shipping some of their cases.

  6. Got my set from BBTS on Saturday!! So happy with each figure..ESPECIALLY Juggernaut! They all look great . One wave a year does not cut it Hasbro!! There are so many other figures that need to be made such as Polaris, Classic Storm, Sunfire, Thunderbird and Dazzler just to name a few (And the top on my wants list!!!)
