Captain America Marvel Legends 2016 Figures Up for Order!

Marvel Legends collectors have had to wait just a hair longer than expected to get their mitts on the Captain America Marvel Legends Red Onslaught Series of figures that were first shown at San Diego Comic-Con 2015. In fact, the Spider-Man series of figures that was mostly debuted months later has already hit some stores, while Cap has been left in the dust. But no longer–! The waiting is over–the Marvel Legends 2016 Red Onslaught Series figures are now up for order online with free shipping!

UPDATE 1/29/2016: The series is now back up for order after being sold out since last week–and Sharon Carter is now available for the first time as well!

Marvel Legends 2016 Captain America Figure Packaged

Ordinarily, I never go to bed before about 3AM, as just in case some exciting Hot Toys or S.H. Figuarts news comes out of Asia, I wanna be awake for it. But I was a little drowsier than usual last night, and fell asleep a little earlier than expected. As a result, I missed the first few hours of what’s probably the biggest event of this new year for Hasbro Marvel Legends 6″ collectors–awakening to find that Amazon had officially opened pre-orders for the 2016 Marvel Legends Red Onslaught Series of figures!

When Hasbro hadn’t allowed any retailers to place the Captain America Legends 2016 figures up for order even a month after the Absorbing Man wave, I had a hunch that something was up: and that something was Amazon getting first dibs, as they have several times since 2014!

Marvel Legends 2016 Whirlwind Figure PackagedJust as a quick review, this Red Onslaught Build-A-Figure series is made up of seven 6″ Marvel Legends figures:

  • Captain America (Classic) with Cap-Wolf Head
  • Mockingbird
  • Agent 13 Sharon Carter
  • Taskmaster with Alternate Udon Taskmaster Head
  • Cottonmouth
  • Scourge
  • Whirlwind

Marvel Legends Scourge Figure PackagedWe don’t know the official case ratios yet for this series, but with there being seven figures in an eight figure case, I think we can reasonably assume that the one figure in this series that will be double-packed in Captain America himself. But hey, that’s not such a bad thing–this ML Cap mold is pretty great, and I am psyched about the Cap Wolf head!

That’s not to say that Hasbro won’t throw us a crazy curve-ball and pack cottonmouth at two per case or something, but it’s highly unlikely.

Marvel Legends Mockingbird Figure PackagedIf I had to make an educated guess as to who the fastest characters to sell out in this wave are going to be, I would pick the new Marvel Legends Mockingbird, Agent 13 and Taskmaster figures. Mockingbird has never been released in action figure form before at mass retail and is becoming a huge star in both Marvel TV and comic books, whereas Agent 13 will be starring in Captain America: Civil War and Taskmaster is a major fan-favorite character.

Marvel Legends Captain America Series Order Page

Of course, that brings me to the one missing facet of this online pre-order: the Marvel Legends Agent 13 figure. For whatever reason, Sharon Carter has not shown her face yet on the pre-order pages. I’ve tried searching with every combination of words that I can think of, but she’s just not showing up. This happened last year with characters like Misty Knight not showing up for days (or weeks) on the site for whatever reason, and it appears Agent 13 is the latest victim.

Have no worries–I’ll definitely post an update with an order link once the Agent 13 Marvel Legends figure goes up for order (as she’s probably the action figure I want most from this whole series). In the meantime, make sure to lock in the characters you want with free shipping–I suspect several of these will be selling out very soon.

Captain America Legends Taskmaster Figure Packaged with Red Onslaught HeadThe Red Onslaught Marvel Legends Captain America Series figures are now available for pre-order, and are expected to be released by February 16, 2016. There’s been plenty of instances where Amazon has received their stock days or weeks in advance and shipped figures out early to those who placed the earliest pre-orders, so if you’re anxious to get this series (and I totally am), you’ll want to make sure to place your order ASAP.

Now that we’ve seen hi-res images of the finished product and the figures are available for order, what figures (if any) will you be buying from the Marvel Legends Red Onslaught BAF Series, Marvel collectors? Are you aiming to build a whole Red Onslaught, cherry-pick your favorite characters, or skip this series in its entirety?

Captain America Marvel Legends 2016 Figures Up for Order! — 24 Comments

  1. I’m Kind of bummed Nuke got left out :/ But otherwise I will be picking up Cap and Taskmaster for sure

      • Nuke may be in Wave 3, even. Valkyrie was shown in 2014 but didn’t show up until Avengers Wave 3 2015 in July/August.

        • Aye.
I’m guessing we get something like Nuke, Falcon, comic style Winter Soldier, Black Panther, some sort of Captain America (possibly Captain Falcon?), another member of the Serpent Society, and maybe Baron von Strucker.

But that’s mostly pure guessing, aside from Nuke and the fact that we don’t have a modern Marvel Legends Falcon while he’s been in 4 movies and has taken over as Captain America in the comics.
And then why give us 1 Serpent unless they plan to make the rest?
The last/only? Strucker was a variant Red Skull from Toy Biz, despite him being a MAJOR villain.
The comic style Winter Soldiers were exclusives on old bodies with sub-par articulation. The movie version doesn’t quite replace a comic one, and he’s become a very popular character thanks to the movies, including Civil War which seems like it will have an awful lot to do with him.
Panther is coming up in Civil War, his Hasbro figure isn’t half as good as the old Toy Biz one, and it’s going to be a while til the Black Panther movie comes out, so he may come up in a “Civil War wave”.

        • I ordered the whole Wave…..except Sharon Carter, obviously.
Guess I gotta wait for her.

    • Nuke is coming later in the year. He’s not cancelled. He’s just not ready yet.

One of the figures in the X-Men Classics wave will have the Onslaught head. Unknown who right now, though I’d be surprised if not Rogue.

  2. Did the Absorbing Man release slip past Amazon? I have seen the figures available, but through third party shops that charge shipping (and want $60 for Spider Gwen…)

    • In fact, I think this also happened last year, with some sort of out of order thing going on with either the Thanos wave, Allfather wave, or Hobgoblin wave.
I want to say that the Hobgoblin Wave was supposed to come out before the Allfather Wave, and instead we got them the other way around?
      Not sure.
      Could easily be wrong.

    • Yeah, I was gonna say. That line are absolutely not on sale, not really. One store selling the whole set & a few scalpers flogging the individual figures is not what I’d call up for order.

  3. The only one I’m actually interested in is Mockingbird. I have plenty of Cap figures… and how many more do I actually need?, and the rest of them just don’t thrill me. Not sure what it is, but just not my selection for some reason.

    • Same here. I am only interested Mockingbird. Which is just fine because my budget is tight this time around.

    • Task Master is a character I like a lot, but his costume here isn’t the one I know him by, and to my eye, this fig is just a guy in sci-fi armor with a skull head.

    • yeah esspiccailly staffs…..and i think they hav gune down hill by letteing fans choose i

  4. Wow….
I managed to snag the whole Onslaught Wave (except Sharon Carter, obviously),
    And THEN
I somehow snagged the whole Absorbing Man Wave.
All on Amazon, at the base price, with free Prime shipping.

Spider-Gwen and Venom are both listed at some stupid price from scalpers, but occasionally pop up for a second as the base price from Amazon.

    • Also sometimes you can catch these off Hasbro’s online store. On Black Friday, I obtained the 4″ Emma Frost at retail minus discount.

  5. This link is dead and don’t see where they are even listed, usually pre-orders just show no longer available. Sounds like these were put up in error.

    • Nope–they were up for several days. If they weren’t meant to be up, Hasbro would have had them taken down immediately. I’m sure they just removed the items temporarily from search as pre-orders are now sold out.
