After Funko announced close to two dozen Captain America: Civil War POP Vinyls and Dorbz less earlier this month, it seemed like Funko had played its full hand as far as their merchandise for the movie went. But nope–they still had at least one more lineup of movie tie-ins up their sleeve, which they’ve kicked off this last week of January 2016 by announcing. And this set includes the most huggable Crossbones and Black Panther toys ever–the Funko Civil War Mopeez are now up for order!

I don’t know that the Marvel Mopeez that were debuted last year exactly set the world (or retail stores) on fire with their sales and popularity, but they also weren’t the utter flop that the poor Fabrikations line has been.

And so, following up the awesome series of rainbow Deadpool Mopeez that I totally dug, it’s a six-character series of Mopeez Civil War plush with two old favorites repacked and four all-new characters making their debut appearances in the Marvel collection!

I really like that Funko made some wacky, off-the-wall picks for this series. A chibi, super-deformed Crossbones stuffed animal is totally over-the-top–and that’s what makes it so, so good!

This is quite possibly the only soft, huggable Crossbones toy that will ever be made, so if you’re a big fan of the character–now’s your chance to nab one to use as a teddy bear!

Almost as ridiculous as Crossbones are the Mopeez Vision and Black Panther plush.  Two of the most calm and serious Avengers, it’s a little surreal seeing this duo as cutesy stuffed animals. Vision looks more confused than grumpy, but Black Panther looks plenty angry for the both of them.

On a sidenote, it seems really unfair to me that poor Captain America is stuck all alone in this series against Crossbones and Iron Man and three of Iron Man’s teammates. Y’know, a plush Falcon or Winter Soldier would have probably been a big hit, Funko! Alas.

Finally, we’ve get the first female Mopeez Marvel plush: Black Widow. Black Widow is probably the least charming toy in this set, as her demeanor doesn’t suit this theme quite as well as her stalwart/homicidal companions, but I’m always glad to see more Black Widow merch.

The series is rounded out by repackage of the previously-released Captain America and Iron Man plushies. These were super-cute last year, and I like them every bit as much this year.

With all six characters packed at two-per-case, I don’t see anything from this series sticking around in stores and gathering dust (unlike basically every Avengers Age of Ultron Fabrikations figure ended up doing).

The Captain America Civil War Mopeez are now up for pre-order, and are scheduled to be released in May 2016. Each character is available individually, and will carry the usual MSRP of $7.99 (although I have seen some stores scalping these at $10-$12 each). The rainbow Deadpool Mopeez series blew out of my Target stores so quickly it totally stunned me, and if this set follows that trend, the Mopeez Civil War plush may end up being really tough grabs at retail.
