Although the Captain Marvel movie will primarily be featuring a slew of characters that are new to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there are still a couple familiar faces in the film. And the most hype-worthy of the returning MCU mainstays is Samuel L. Jackson, who reportedly will be getting an origin story of a sorts in the film. And to celebrate, he’s also getting his first mass-released 6” figure: the young Nick Fury Marvel Legends movie figure (with Goose “cat”!) is now available online—is the future director of SHIELD worth your 20 bucks?

Fact of action figure industry life: tooling has got to be reused when possible to save money and make costs even out logistically. That’s why we got the weird Astral Doctor Strange figure a few years back, and it’s why we’re getting this Captain Marvel Legends figure in flight jacket. But unlike that Doctor Strange, this figure has a few things in its favor, including a new Brie Larson portrait and an exclusive Goose the Cat figure. Do these new additions warrant dropping $19.99 on this version of Carol?

Considering the fact that the 2013 Scarlet Spider Marvel Legends figure has been in the header for this site ever since I opened it over half a decade ago, I don’t think anyone will be stunned to learn that I’m a big Kaine Parker fan. While that ML Rocket Raccoon Series figure is a bit dated by today’s standards, I loved (and still do love) it. But time has marched forward, action figures have advanced, and it was time for a new version of Kaine to be released. The Marvel Legends SP//DR Series Scarlet Spider figure is already selling out and escalating in price: is it worth upgrading before it’s too late?

Earlier this year, Hasbro gave 6” figure collectors their very first dose of a modern X-23 Marvel Legends figure in the Deadpool Sasquatch Series with X-Force X-23. I was taken off-guard by how much I liked that figure, primarily because of its awesome head sculpt. But a few months later, Hasbro hit Laura Kinney fans up again with the version of the character everyone had been waiting for: the Marvel Legends X-23 Wolverine figure! While I initially thought that there might not be enough marketable related characters to produce a second wave of Deadpool Legends, Hasbro drew from a much deeper well and used the Sauron Series to give us an assortment that’s more of a pseudo second X-Men wave for the year than anything else. And one of its highlights is an X-Men villain we haven’t seen in 6” form in 13 years! Marvel Legends Omega Red is available now online for above retail price: should you replace your Toybiz version with this one?

There was a time about four years ago when I still had delusions that it was possible to be a completist with Guardians of the Galaxy merch. With the sheer mass of GOTG collectibles that have been released over the past several years, I’ve realized that goal is pretty unrealistic. But with Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord being my favorite character in the whole MCU, I’m all-in when it comes to Star-Lord toys. So when the Marvel Gallery Star-Lord Unmasked PVC statue started shipping last month, it was on its way to my home shortly thereafter. At 11″ tall and just 40 bucks, it’s a steal value-wish… but is this Chris Pratt figure actually any good…?

I always try desperately to curb my spending around the holidays, but when a good deal comes up, a good deal comes up. So when Amazon temporarily mispriced the Iron Studios Rocket Raccoon & Groot BDS Statue down to 45 bucks last week, what was a GOTG fan to do besides one-click purchase them for himself, right? They caught the mistake reasonably quick and spiked the price back up now, which begs the question: is this 1:10 Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Statue worth the full MSRP?

New York Comic Con 2018 is less than a week away, and as usual, the anticipated pre-NYCC Marvel toy news lull is upon us. But while we wait to see new offerings revealed by Hasbro, Kotobukiya, Diamond Select and more next week, it’s the perfect time for me to dig back into my cache of Marvel Legends figures needing a review. And this time, it’s a figure guaranteed to be one of this year’s most popular figures: Venom Marvel Legends Carnage may be two per case and fairly easy to order online for MSRP , but he may actually (rightfully) be the fastest seller in the Venom series!
