Funko Age of Ultron Black Widow POP Vinyl Up For Order!

As it turns out, there really are six core members of the Avengers team in Avengers: Age of Ultron. When toy companies started unveiling their Avengers Age of Ultron figure lines and there were few Black Widow figures to be found, there was an outcry for more Black Widow merch. Well, Hasbro announced a new Marvel Legends Black Widow and the Marvel Select Black Widow figure debuted at the 2015 New York Toy Fair, and that left only one gaping omission… which has now been filled. Coming May 2015–the Avengers Age of Ultron Funko Black Widow POP Vinyls figure is now up for order!

Funko Avengers Age of Ultron Black Widow POP Vinyls Figure

When the first series of Avengers: Age of Ultron movie Funko POP! Vinyl figures was revealed and there was no new Funko Black Widow, I honestly wasn’t the least bit surprised. After all, Hawkeye was finally getting his first Funko figure in the series, and the excellent Captain America: The Winter Soldier Black Widow POP Vinyls figure I reviewed only came out last year. So no–I genuinely did not expect to see another Funko POP! Vinyls Black Widow for at least another year.

Even so, Marvel fandom was not satisfied with the repeated snubbing of Scarlett Johansson in toy form, and vocal fans let toy manufacturer know. Evidently, Funko heard them loud and clear.

New York Toy Fair 2015 Funko Melinda May POP Vinyl May 2015 Release DateAt the New York Toy Fair 2015, I mentioned how happy I was to see the Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD Agent Melinda May POP Vinyls figure that debuted at the show coming in May, and the Funko rep I was speaking with responded by saying something along the lines of “Yeah, I know fans were really upset that there was no Black Widow in the Age of Ultron line.”

That bit of dialogue didn’t make a lot of sense to me at the time, but now I think that was a slip and he thought the new Black Widow POP! (which, coincidentally, is also coming in May 2015) was on display at the show and I was talking about it.

Black Widow Funko POP Vinyls Avengers Age of Ultron Figure

Regardless, a new Funko Age of Ultron Black Widow POP Vinyl figure is on the way, and she looks really snazzy. As much as I loved last year’s Black Widow POP!, this new version of Black Widow has a lot to offer with her 100% new body sculpt, wavy hair style and red-and-blue highlighted costume.

While I hated the straight-haired look Scarlett Johansson had in The Winter Soldier movie at first, I really grew to love it over time. So even though the wavy-haired Black Widow is the “iconic” look for the character, I’m glad that we’re getting both. This new Black Widow won’t take the place in my heart of the Winter Soldier version that I raved about last year, but I’ll be scooping her up nonetheless.

Avengers Age of Ultron Black Widow Funko POP Vinyls Figure BoxThe Funko POP Vinyls Black Widow Avengers Age of Ultron figure is now up for order, and is scheduled to be released in May 2015. So yes, Funko Black Widow will be missing the theatrical launch of the new Avengers movie–but not by much. Black Widow will retail for the usual MSRP of $9.99 (although some retailers do get their jollies by inflating the prices on Funko figures to $12-$15).

Now that we know the core Avengers team is going to be complete in Funko Avengers Age of Ultron POP Vinyls form, are you satisfied with this lineup, Marvel collectors? Or are you not going to be fully appeased until Funko confirms the much-requested Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch POP Vinyls as well?

  1. Marvel fandom ? More like femininazi fandom, same trash websites reporting on no black widow funko didn’t report on the one in cap2 didn’t report on the legends figure or the select, and probably won’t mention this. Just to make it seem like marvel doesn’t get toys made of female characters. Like that trash article on io9 a few weeks ago.

    • Actually the feminist sites are jumping for joy over this.
And the fact that Widow had one before in an unrelated line is irrelevant. It’s very noticeable when they give the five male Avengers from the first movie, plus the villain and the Vision their own Funkos but not the girl. It’s a situation Marvel corrected but let’s not pretend it didn’t look awkward in the beginning.

  2. Please don’t try and defend these trash femininazi, sites with their selected reporting to fulfill their agenda.

    • If Marvel didn’t want it to be an issue they probably should have released Widow with the others LOL.
