Funko Dorbz Civil War Figures RETIRED! Black Panther & More!

Although the Funko Dorbz line is still less than a year old, already there have been numerous limited edition Marvel Dorbz and the line is really starting to gain momentum. Dorbz look ready to explode in popularity to the level of Pop Vinyls any time now–and to help the buzz around the line along, Funko has now officially added several Dorbz figures to the Vault for the first time ever! Get the just retired Dorbz Civil War Black Panther and more for retail while you still can, because prices will be skyrocketing very soon…

Funko Civil War Dorbz Retired The Vault

As the Funko Dorbz figures are still a young line and are only now starting to be carried in more retail stores, I thought maybe Funko wasn’t planning to retire any of the figures to “The Vault” for a while yet. The fact that the Guardians of the Galaxy Dorbz  were basically a flop and yet are still readily available to order supported this supposition.

But it seems that not even new entries in a young line are safe, and as proof, all six of the first Dorbz to ever be retired are new releases that have only been in stores for under two months!

Civil War Dorbz The Winter Soldier Vinyl FigureThe first six Dorbz figures of any kind to be retired are as follows:

  • Civil War Black Panther
  • Civil War Winter Soldier
  • Civil War Crossbones
  • Batman v Superman Batman
  • Batman v Superman Superman
  • Warcraft Lothar

BvS Dorbz Batman FigureAll six of these figures chosen for retirement have to be considered a big surprise. Batman and Superman are headliner characters from a movie that’s not even out on DVD yet, and The Warcraft Lothar Dorbz has only been in stores for about a week.

Funko Crossbones Dorbz Vinyl Figure

Given Crossbones’ role in the Civil War movie, I’m not astonished to see the Crossbones Dorbz retired, but the super-hyped Black Panther and Winter Soldier figures being Vaulted so quickly is a real shocker. It’s worth noting that both the Chase Black Panther and Chase Crossbones are also now vaulted–that’s pretty scary considering that both Civil War Chase Dorbz already sold for $40-$55 regularly.

When a Funko vinyl is vaulted, it means that the factories have completed production and no more of that figure will be produced. With that in mind, Black Panther and friends may be the first of the Captain America Civil War Dorbz to be vaulted simply because those figures have sold the fastest and the warehouses are already out of stock on them.

Funko Black Panther Dorbz RetiredYou can still get all six of the now-retired Dorbz online for regular price and free shipping. With the popularity of Funko Dorbz vinyls looking to be on the precipice of really exploding his summer, I’d highly recommend anyone in these characters pick them up while they’re cheap. I can see all of these first retired figures becoming astronomically expensive a year from now.

What do you think about the first characters selected for the Dorbz Vault, Marvel collectors? Is Funko pulling the plug too early on such hot characters, or do you like that they’re creating future grails early on in the life of the line with these unexpected retirements?

    • “Kuhrt”. =P

And nope–Funko hasn’t even announced a Series 2 yet. They seem to be focusing on the movie stuff. =/

  1. My apologies 🙂 and aw man that sucks, I have all of series 1 now and I’m working on getting the chases as well as the punisher and stealth iron man. I feel like the guardians ones are pointless in getting
