MAFEX Iron Man Mark 43 Figure Up for Order!

Get out of the way, because the runaway freight train that is movie Iron Man merch cannot be stopped! At this point, Iron Man has literally appeared in virtually every single toy line by every Marvel licensee. Believe it or not, there are still a few holdouts out there, though! But in summer 2016, we’ll have to cross one of these rare exceptions off the list, as Iron Man will by flying into Medicom’s premium 6″ figure line–MAFEX Iron Man Mark 43 Figure is now up for order!

Iron Man Mark XLIII Medicom MAFEX Figure

Tony Stark is a man who’s not fond of coming in second–but in this case, he’s going to have to settle for placing #13!

Because although the MAFEX Amazing Spider-Man figure kicked off the line as the very first MAFEX release way back in 2013, the second Marvel character to join this Medicom line (following a slew of Batman characters and some other folks)–as MAFEX #13–is Iron Man Mark 43, from this summer’s Avengers: Age of Ultron movie.

MAFEX #13 Iron Man Mark XLIII Figure FlyingI can’t say that I’m surprised to see Medicom cashing in on the Mark 43 Iron Man armor–in fact, I’d say the only surprise is that it’s taken them this long to release their first MAFEX Iron Man. Had they produced a Mark XLII, they could have just repainted it into the Mark XLIII now to double-dip on the mold (like every other toy company out there)! Ha.

Medicom MAFEX Iron Man Mark 43 Figure BackLike all figures in the line, the MAFEX Iron Man Mark XLIII figure will be super-poseable and stand about 6.25″ tall. That’s slightly larger than most Marvel Legends figures, but I think most collectors will be able to overlook  the extra quarter-inch if they like this figure enough.

Close-Up of Medicom Iron Man Mark 43 MAFEX FigureWhat I think many collectors won’t be able to overlook, however, is the eyebrow-raising MSRP price-point of 8,424 JPY (about $70.42 USD). After import fees and/or shipping, this is going to be an $80+ figure. This Iron Man looks good, but does he look $80 good–especially for those who have the Figuarts Iron Man Mark 43 released already…?

MAFEX Iron Man Mark 42 Tony Stark Head Mask Up

The thing that most set this figure apart from the SH Figuarts Mark 43 was a really terrific Robert Downey Jr. Tony Stark head shown at the Summer Wonder Festival 2015. Unfortunately, that head isn’t shown in any of the official photos and isn’t mentioned in the product description at all. That’s a disappointment, as that head might have compelled me to drop the ~$80 this figure is retailing for.

Supposedly this Iron Man MAFEX figure is still scheduled to include a figure stand and effects pieces, but those are also absent in the official solicitation images for the figure (besides what look like spikey candy corn attached to Iron Man’s boots in the one flying photo). Curious. I’m a little wary and am planning to wait and see exactly how this figure turns out and what’s included before I consider ordering one, personally.

Crouching Iron Man Mark 43 FigureThe Medicom Iron Man Mark 43 MAFEX figure is now up for order, and is scheduled to ship in June 2016. That’s quite a wait for a 6″ scale figure–almost a full year–but I guess that’ll give fans time to save up a bit for this action figure which is rather expensive for its size.

Anyone out there collecting Medicom’s MAFEX figures line? If so, what are your general impressions of the line and are you planning to pick up the Iron Man Mark XLIII for your collection?

MAFEX Iron Man Mark 43 Figure Up for Order! — 2 Comments

  1. I have all the figures Mafex Batman (Even the Batpod) and was very disappointed. The plastic quality is fair to poor. Figure The Joker has bad proportions, very long arms. Batman poor quality joints. Catwoman no accessories. The best was the Batpod … Undoubtedly this Mark 43 not worth it, and maybe never comes to the sale, as happened with Star Wars figures Mafex (Vader and Stormtrooper that take more than a year in preorder) . I have the SHFiguarts Mark 43 and is perfect.

  2. As excellent an good looking this fig is, i think i pass. Already have the sh figuarts version. If they include head sculpt of tony stark i might consider…
