Marvel Infinite Series 2 Figures at NY Toy Fair 2014!

Seeing as how the first wave of Hasbro Marvel Infinite Series 3 3/4″ action figures are almost ready to ship out and up till now we’d heard zippo from Hasbro about Wave 2, it didn’t take a zen master of collecting to know that the 2014 Marvel Universe Infinite Series 2 figures would be debuting at New York Toy Fair 2014 this week. And as expected, they did–highlighted by the Marvel Infinite Series 2 Whirlwind, Death’s Head and Red She-Hulk action figures!

Marvel Infinite Series 2 Whirlwind Figure Toy Fair 2014

Marvel Infinite Series 2 Whirlwind Figure: The first figure I want to talk about in Marvel Infinite Series Wave 2 is a villain we haven’t seen in figure form in many years–Whirlwind! Whirlwind had a hard-to-find 5″ figure way back in the ToyBiz days of the Iron Man animated line, but really hasn’t gotten any love since. One of the most famous members of the Masters of Evil, Whirlwind will be a great addition to the Marvel Universe-scale 3 3/4″ figures of Baron Zemo, Tigershark and Radioactive Man that Hasbro has previously released.

Marvel Universe Infinite Series 2 Red She-Hulk FigureMarvel Infinite Series 2 Red She-Hulk Figure: Next up it’s Red She-Hulk! Red She-Hulkie (or “Rulkie”, as some affectionately call her) got her first action figure in Hasbro Marvel Legends Series 4 in 2013, and now she’s back to join the Hasbro Marvel Universe scale of figures! While Red She-Hulk’s comic book series was a colossal flop, the quality of the book was actually quite good. I’ll be glad to add the 3 3/4″ Red She-Hulk action figure to my collection later this year.

Toy Fair 2014 Hasbro Beta Ray Bill Marvel Infinite Series 2 FigureMarvel Infinite Series 2 Beta Ray Bill Figure: The first of the Marvel Infinite Series 2 reissues from the now-defunct Marvel Universe lineup is Thor’s ally, Beta Ray Bill. The Marvel Universe Beta Ray Bill figure sold solidly at retail, though I’m still a bit surprised to see this figure returning so soon after his original release in 2012. The Beta Ray Bill Infinite Series figure looks like a straight reissue to me–if there is a paint deco change, then it’s a minor one.

Marvel Universe Infinite Series 2 Kevin Masterson Thor FigureMarvel Universe Infinite Series 2 Kevin Masterson Thor Figure: And here’s the man who would go on to become Thunderstrike, Kevin Masterson! I have a soft spot for the Kevin Masterson Thor, as he was the Thor when I was starting to read comics as a kid. This figure is nothing groundbreaking, as I believe only the head is all-new, but this Marvel Universe  Kevin Masterson Thor figure is gonna make a lot of collectors from my generation happy.

Avengers Universe Infinite Series 2 Steve Rogers Super Soldier Captain America FigureAvengers Universe Infinite Series 2 Steve Rogers Super Soldier Captain America Figure: Another reissue from the Marvel Universe line, it’s Steve Rogers Super-Soldier! This figure was a consistently hot seller in my area, despite being shipped pretty steadily. With Captain America wearing a similar costume in the Captain America The Winter Soldier movie this spring, Hasbro is smart to put this figure back into circulation–it’s vastly better than any of the actual 4″ Winter Soldier movie figures that Hasbro has created this year.

3 3/4" Marvel Infinite Series 2 Death's Head Figure3 3/4″ Marvel Infinite Series 2 Death’s Head Figure: Oh man! I seriously cannot believe that this is real and that Death’s Head is genuinely getting an action figure. I spent my whole childhood being primarily a Transformers fan, so I am close to giddy with joy and disbelief that one of Simon Furman’s most loved Marvel creations is actually getting a Hasbro action figure. Death Head’s may legitimately bomb at retail, but man, am I ever psyched about this figure. Way to go, Hasbro.

Yellowjacket Marvel Infinite Series Wave 2 FigureYellowjacket Marvel Infinite Series Wave 2 Figure: The last of the three reissues in Hasbro Marvel Infinite Series Wave 2 is Yellowjacket. First released in 2011, the Yellowjacket figure sold decently well in stores, though he eventually pegwarmed in many areas. For this release, Yellowjacket will have an improved repaint with yellow paint instead of the gold of the original release. Even so, the proportions on the original Marvel Universe Yellowjacket figure were atrocious, so I don’t have high hopes for this repaint.

With a good mix of all-new characters and a couple of repacks of Marvel Universe figures that are fairly demanded, I’m feeling pretty good about Hasbro Marvel Infinite Series 2 3 3/4″ figures. How about you, Marvel collectors? Anything in this series that you’re drooling over half as much as I am in the Death’s Head action figure?

  1. Who wants to make a bet that Emma Frost & the Asgardians that were cancelled from last year are going to be this years SDCC exclusives? If they haven’t shown up in an assortment yet, I think that’s where they’ll be.

  2. Maybe to tie in with X-Men: Days if Future Past, they’ll issue the Emma/ Cyclops/ Colossus Juggernaut set at SDCC.

    • Nope, they will have a Spider-Man vs. Sinister Six box set with Sandman, Vulture, Dr.Ock, all-new Mysterio, Kraven and classic Electro!
