Marvel Legends Avengers Wave 2 Case Ratios & Pre-Order!

Last year, Hasbro blasted Marvel Legends collectors with the second wave of Spider-Man Legends and Captain America Legends within a month or so of the figures hitting retail. It looks like that trend will be continuing this year as well, as Avengers Marvel Legends Wave 2 is now up for order–and scheduled to arrive this month! And hey, the case assortment for this Marvel Legends Avengers Thanos Series even makes sense…

2015 Marvel Legends Avengers Wave 2 Packaged Thanos Build-A-Figure

With the production samples having leaked out of the factory for the Marvel Legends Avengers Wave 2 figures back in January, I was wondering when Hasbro would allow retailers to start taking orders for the series (especially with the Avengers Age of Ultron movie just two months out, and this being the only Marvel Legends case of the year with single-packed Age of Ultron figures in it) .

Turns out the pre-order embargo was in effect until March 1st, so when the clock rolled over last night, the pre-orders could finally begin rolling in!

Marvel Legends 2015 Avengers Wave 2 Case RatiosThe details on the figures up for pre-order confirm the Avengers Legends Wave 2 case assortment we were expecting:

  • (2) Marvel Legends Age of Ultron Hulk Figures
  • (2) Marvel Legends Age of Ultron Iron Man Mark 43 Figures
  • (1) Marvel Legends Age of Ultron Captain America Figure
  • (1) Marvel Legends Batroc Figure
  • (1) Marvel Legends Spider-Woman Figure [Jessica Drew]
  • (1) Marvel Legends Hellcat Figure

Due to the way that the parts were broken down for the Thanos Marvel Legends Build-A-Figure, collectors won’t have to buy purchase both Spider-Woman and Hellcat to complete Thanos–both women will include Thanos’ left arm. I want them both anyway, but I know not every modern Marvel fan even knows who Hellcat is, so those fans will appreciate not having to buy her.

Marvel Legends Avengers Age of Ultron Hulk FigureOverall, as with Avengers Legends Wave 1 (where only Classic Hawkeye was heavy-packed), I would say that this is a very solid case assortment. I’m sure some collectors will balk at the double-packed Iron Man Mark XLIII and movie Hulk figures, but two figures needed to come at two-per-case and those were clearly the best choices to do so.

The Hellcat and Batroc Marvel Legends figures would likely rot on pegs if heavy-packed (I love both characters, but they are obscure), and there are still tons of movie Captain America figures on the pegs in many stores from last year’s Marvel Legends Captain America series.

Spider-Woman Marvel Legends 2015 Avengers Thanos Wave Figure

That leaves the Jessica Drew Spider-Woman as the only other viable choice to come at two-per-case, but with Hulk and Iron Man being the two most popular characters in a movie coming out this summer, this was probably a rather easy decision for Hasbro to make.

With Hasbro committed to producing all six core members (plus Banner) as Avengers Age of Ultron Marvel Legends figures, I think the three movie figures in this series will do just fine at retail.

Marvel Legends 2015 Avengers Wave 2 Captain America AOU FigureThe 2015 Marvel Legends Avengers Wave 2 figures are now available for order both as a set and a full case, with an estimated shipping date of March 2015 (yes, that’s this month). I want to build my Marvel Legends Thanos Build-A-Figure pronto, so I ordered my set already.

What do you think of the Marvel Legends Avengers Infinite Series Wave 2 case ratios, Marvel collectors? Will the ratios stop you from ordering a full case, or are you happy with what the Hasbro higher-ups chose this time?

Marvel Legends Avengers Wave 2 Case Ratios & Pre-Order! — 28 Comments

  1. Food for thought, collectors. Hellcat is there because Patsy Walker will be in the Jessica Jones Netfilx TV show. That figure might be a break-out fave if that show does well… especially with the female collectors. I’m getting Hellcat for my collection if I can, as well as Batroc. Maybe Spider-woman too. No need to pick up the other figures.

  2. Dabid, your reasoning behind the double packing of Iron Man and Hulk are sound, but on the real, when has Hasbro NOT heavy packed Iron Man?!!? Back in the day, there were some waves that had THREE per case (The rarest Iron Man ever was the original Stealth from the Toybiz wave one)! I believe the wave containing War Machine will come 2 per. Also, there are STILL Cosmic Iron Man figures from the GOTG wave killin’ the pegs in stores! You can rest assure when Hasbro comes out with Superior Iron Man, that’s gonna be doubled up as well. Not a complaint, but merely a long standing observation (and not so bold prediction).

    • Nighthawk would be AWESOME. That and Hyperion, who’s out already… c’mon be honest folks… who NEEDS the Squadron Supreme? Just me? I flipped out when i saw them in the Avengers cartoon recently… maybe they have plans?

  3. Came across this news late last night and it screwed me. Spider-Woman was sold out on BBTS and Dorkside so I went to Toywiz and over-paid, hoping I can find a cheaper one of Amazon, Ebay or in the store before they charge my card. I’m so pissed because that is the only figure I want from this wave.

  4. Man, there are releasing these things fast. I can’t even financially keep up. Hopefully I’ll be able to get what I want before the scalpers buy them all.

    • I think a Spider-Woman, Batroc and Hellcat are gonna be scalped quick. My pre-order for Spider-Woman after shipping is $35, I’m crossing my fingers that I can find it in store(or somewhere else) before they charge me.

    • ur trippin.

i dont know if you’ve realized, but when the odin wave was first hitting, prices were pretty high, but once they started officially getting stocked at target and toysrus…. the ebay prices are stupid low now. like… perfectly low now. people just trying to get rid of their extras…

just wait a couple months and there will be no problem whatsoever finding these.

      • Yeah, I can’t pay 35$ for a legends figure either, not with so many new one’s coming out all of the time that I want. I know that most of the figures start off high and then should reach lower prices. Toys R Us has them low right now, although they keep selling out of Scarlet Witch immediately upon arrival of a new shipment (at least twice that I know of). Amazon had the same figure at normal prices for a total of like 3 days (around the time that Toys R Us started selling). I just hope that this doesn’t keep happening on that figure specifically and she’ll end up never coming down in price. With some of these figures, we have just a small window.

        • $35 is too much and I’m strongly considering canceling that pre-order. I’ll probably look for her in the stores or look for a used one on Ebay. It sucks that the female figures are so hard to find.

          • Yeah, it’s hard to predict. Some are hard to find and stay high priced forever and then all of sudden you’ll see them in stores again. The Target in my area does this a lot, most recently with Black Widow. I thought that Agent Venom would immediately sell out forever, but now the rush has slowed down and you can still get him online at the Walgreens website for normal price. However, If you have the 35$ for one figure, I say go for it if you don’t want to risk it.
My problem is that I am not wealthy and I also collect Marvel Select, (Carnage and Cable are about to be released) so when many toys from two different lines are released all at once I can only hope a figure doesn’t go extinct right away. If I were wealthy though, I wouldn’t care about 35$, as it would be worth the extra $12 or whatever to have a sure thing.

        • Trust me dude, I’m broke as a joke right now, my budget allows for me(and my wife) to spend $50 a month on hobby stuff so $35 means I’ll probably have to miss some comics or something. Judging by how Captain Marvel and Scarlet Witch are selling on Ebay right now that pre-order is looking like it’ll probably get cancelled.

          • Patience not panic is your greatest weapon. These figures are not retailer exclusives. Widely available at major chain retailers and depending on your location, with time you should easily be able to reap all the figures you desire. If I learned anything in the past year of 2014, it is patience yields results. Hasbro had 3 ML series out(still does) if I did not already own them,I believe I could get GROOT,MANDROID,andGREEN GOBLIN by going out right now and hunting them down. I just saw Black Cat and Black Widow in Targets and Walgreens. Gamora ,cosmic Ironman,Drax,Nova at Walmart..(one Hawkeye)
My ToysRus has 7,or8Hawkeyes and 2MachineMen.(sense a pattern?) Ben Franklin said,”a stitch in time saves nine.” In this case time and patience will save you money, capt.
MANDROID,GG have been out a year and change,so you got time. Relax. I cleaned up during 4th qtr with all the X-mas holiday deals that went down last year. I am not saying wait til the holidays, just know that you got time to pick up what you want.
like about 2 weeks to maybe 3months.
I am on a tight stringbuget too. I had to establish rules for my collector spending. If I can get it on the cheap by swap/trade ,price match, rewards card, discount coupon etc, I will.
Imports I leave to my comic shop or the web.
Commercial guys like Hasbro,Mattel, etc I buy product in store unless online is cheaper or the item is a retailer exclusive(I got shorted by Tru excl Jubilee wave) this is the one big exception to the rule of patience! –Hasbro did a very short run on that series and it was not a wide release. I missed out on the tru online preorder bogo sale. That means I am short a few figures and I am not paying scalper prices.–I check Walgreens on a regular basis and still see Agent Venom and ProtoFett. Now that they sell Legends odds just went up of acquiring all of them within our budgets.
Happy collecting! May fortune find you.

  5. Wow. HTS just put up the Odin case at $140 with free shipping. Unusual for a manufacturer to undercut all of it’s retailers.

  6. I need to know when the Avengers wave 2 is hitting stores. We can’t let these money hungry scalpers scoop them all. I went to Walmart the 1st week Odin wave was in stores and the clerk said the day before an older guy grabbed 30 of the figures and almost cleared them out at a $850 price tag. I friggin hate those people that mess it up for regular collectors like us that want to have fun collecting and afford it to. Lucky I didn’t see the guy. I’d give him some words to sit in his head!!!

    • Preorder will come to $32 per figure compared to $28 in stores x5 to make Thanos so $20 difference which will almost get me another figure. So I just got to hit Walmart and TRU every couple days till they stock and get them right away when put on shelf. Street date is just sometime in March so could be anytime now. Waiting for someone to see them and post either here or on Facebook…

      • i dont know what youre saying really. can you explain some math?

you said the guy at walmart spent like ..850… to order 30 figs?

he would be better off trying to get an entertainment earth account and be able to order figures pre-ordered at a business price? right? this guy i know that i bought something off craigslist…said he had an account…where he had to order like minimum… 5 cases? or something… someone correct me if im wrong…

so what im asking is…are u sure hes a scalper? if the shits already at retail..and hes paying 20 a figure… he would honestly have to sell em at what… 30 each? to make any type of profit especially after ebay fees and shipping.

so what exactly do you think they guy was scalping? its not like he bought 30 scarlet witches… he bought the common figures too.

        • Trust me friend, he’s scalping the figures. He’ll sell the “hard to gets” at $30-40 and he’ll open the rest, sell them loose and worst of all, sell the individual BAF’s at $10-15. The loose figs he’ll attempt to sell them at the price he paid, or close to it. Believe it, the vultures tic blood suckling vermin that scalpers…is real.

          • those are all high hopes only though. of u thinking he can make that profit on pieces and common figures.

what im saying is, all those odin figures are going dirt cheap on eBay now. why? because they hit retail. so for the guy to buy 30 figures…there’s no way he made any type of profit.

        • I’m in Toronto Canada not the U.S. so got taxes, currency conversion, customs and higher shipping than you boys over there. Doing the math means better to buy in the stores if you can find. Main Canadian website for orders is Toysonfire a branch of the U.S. cmdstore.

      • What Turdsley said is correct. I, myself have an EE account (wholesale) and only pay $15 and change per figure. The long or double packed items I sell on eBay for $20 plus shipping (I charge $7 but it actually costs $7.15 so I take a slight hit). It’s the way to go if you want what you want and are tired of coming up short in the stores. The only downside being no payoff for the thrill of the chase.

        • Also, if you get a retail account, they offer free shipping. The other downside is is (usually) they get product a month behind everyone else, with the exception of the Thanos wave which they’re getting same time as everyone else (which is strange considering they haven’t gotten the All father wave in yet).

          • EE actually oftentimes gets their Marvel Legends and Infinite Series 4″ figures in-stock earlier than other e-tailers. They always push out the scheduled release date for pre-orders further to give themselves more time, but I’ve had a lot of success getting Marvel Universe/Infinite Series and Mashers figures earlier from EE than anywhere else.

They also randomly ship out Marvel Select figures and Minimates weeks earlier than the release dates sometimes, which I always appreciate. =D

  7. You have a point. I’ve had the Hobgoblin wave for about a month now so they do get SOME waves in early. The GOTG was a month behind though. So is the Allfather wave.
