MCU 10th Marvel Legends Infinity War Thanos 3-Pack Box Set!

It may be time to start building an ark, because the Hasbro flood of new Marvel Legends figures this month doesn’t seem to be letting up! This time, it’s not another whole new series of figures, though—it’s just one three pack of upgrading figures many collectors may have missed! The 6” Marvel Legends Infinity War 3-Pack of Thanos (with new head!), Doctor Strange and Iron Man is now up for order!

Marvel Legends 10 Years 3 Pack Thanos Doctor Strange Iron Man Set Packaged

Even though the expectations for Thanos as the supreme villain of the first 3 phases of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) were sky-high, I think that Thanos ended up actually overperforming and becoming far more popular with mainstream fans than anyone could have expected.

As a result, that Thanos Build-A-Figure from Infinity War Wave 1 has remained in hot demand throughout the spring, despite the fact that the head sculpt isn’t exactly everyone’s cup of tea. But worry not, Thanos lovers—Hasbro is aiming to fix both those problems in one fell swoop with the 10 Years of MCU box set coming out next month, including figures of Iron Man, Thanos and Doctor Strange!

Marvel Legends Thanos 3-Pack Head Close-UpNow, I don’t think there’s any question that the big prize in this set is the Marvel Legends Thanos figure. Not everyone wanted to buy $140 worth of other figures to build the Thanos BAF, and frankly, it would have been a little unfair for such a crucial character to only be available as a Build-A-Figure.

MCU 10th Anniversary Thanos Figure with Alternate HeadBut Hasbro isn’t just repacking ML Thanos—they’re giving him an all-new head that is a humongous improvement over the original! I’ll take this fierce, angry Thanos expression over his high-as-a-kite portrait from the BAF any day! The original head with vastly improved paint apps is also included, along with a new Infinity Gauntlet hand where Thanos’ fingers are out instead of in a fist.

Marvel Legends Infinity War Doctor Strange 6 Inch FigureIn addition to Thanos, the 2016 Marvel Legends Doctor Strange figure is back—but now with a new head, updated paint deco and a terrific new spell effects piece hand.

Close-Up of Marvel Legends Doctor Strange Figure New Head 3-PackI didn’t mind the original release of this figure, but the new Benedict Cumberbatch portrait and the new magic effects hand bring this to the next level.

Marvel Legends Infinity War Iron Man Figure ReleasedFinally, we’ve got Iron Man Mark L (50), who… well, basically looks exactly the same to me as his singles release. He does have one new trick, though–a light-up ARC reactor! At least that’s something, right?

Since this figure was two-per-case in the first Avengers wave of the year, I’ve already got two and am not exactly delighted to own a third. But oh well—gotta have that improved Thanos, no matter what!

Marvel Legends Infinity War Thanos Iron Man Doctor Strange 3-PackThe Marvel Legends Avengers Infinity War MCU 10th Anniversary 3-Pack is now up for order, and is scheduled to be released in July 2018. EE has the best price I’ve seen for the set at $69.99. These have already been packaged and produced, so I expect them to release on-time next month. So for those who’ve been waiting for a 6″ scale Thanos figure–or a better one than the Build-A-Figure–you won’t have to wait much longer!

What do you think of the final Marvel Legends 10th Anniversary Marvel Cinematic Universe set to be revealed, Marvel collectors? Is this set too much of a rehash to earn your dollars, or are you ponying up for the upgraded Doctor Strange and Thanos action figures (and choking down that Iron Man who comes with them)?

MCU 10th Marvel Legends Infinity War Thanos 3-Pack Box Set! — 25 Comments

    • Thank you! I was staring at that circle on the box blankly light a moron and rereading the official description trying to figure out what that was, and somehow my archaic brain just didn’t latch onto that!

  1. More money for a better repaints. If this was planned some time ago maybe fans would not have spent $140 on the wave.

      • Me either. Frankly, this is going to make me question if I want to continue to buy new MCU figures when they initially release. This is insulting. Even if you wanted to re-release Thanos with new heads and hands, even if you think the new Strange is enough of an improvement on the MCU Strange from less than two years ago, the inclusion of the same fucking Tony with a light up arc reactor is the last straw.

I think I’m going to go back to comics characters for a while now. Probably should have just stuck with them in the first place.

        • I’d chill. This isn’t the first time Hasbro has released superior repaints. They did the same thing the the first Micheal Bay Transformers movie. They released the “Premium Series.” They were more screen accurate decos of the existing figures in ’07 Movie line up. They haven’t pulled that again until now. Granted we now have the Studio Series, a more screen accurate version of the movie bots, but they are mostly all new molds. I just hope this doesn’t turn into a “Premium Series” for the MCU.

  2. I hope there is more of these 10th Anniversary packs coming because there are so many more movie characters they can do, and they seem to be hitting Legends out of the park in general this year.

    • Well Marvel probably do an exchange with DC’s overflux of Batmans and they can release disco Batman with the wave or something. Then they can work down the multiverses and year 1, year 2, year 3, year 4, Leap Year Batman ETC.

  3. This looks pretty cool. I was a little bummed that it does look to be mostly like a repaint. I do like the set though. Except for Iron man. He was already packed 2 to case in that first wave and now we have to see him again. I get it. I guess because these are characters from Titan scene.

But if someone could please put the word out. I would really love a Heimdall Figure. I see they are doing a Sif finally in this line so I have slight glimmer of hope now.

  4. Does Dr Strange not have an interchangeable left hard? Or does he have to be constantly using the time stone effects?

  5. Looks like the Iron Man Mark L also lost its torso articulation to facilitate the light-up feature. UGH, I just want that Strange!

  6. Instead of a light up reactor, I’d have preferred this 3pk IM had gotten some snap on weapon upgrades that were seen in the movie. 🙁

    • I agree. It’s not the inclusion of Iron Man again, it’s that there so little improvement. He lights up now. Woo. Like you said, some of the weapons and/or the thruster he used to get to the ring ship would have justified it a bit more. Dr Strange I thought was a great idea here, and I tend to get the idea that his movie was not particularly well liked by many fans, thus they skipped the figure. I like the time stone effect on his arm, but it does not look removable, which irritates me.

Thanos feels like the real kick to the nuts here. He was just the BAF for the first wave of the line. And, maybe it’s just me, but does the collar and belt and such look silver in most lights instead of gold? That bothered me more than anything on the original. I just hope the purple skins and the gold on the Infinity Gauntlets match on these two so I can change out the left arm (I prefer the fist).

  7. No doubt, the third inclusion should have been an updated Iron Spider with his legs and glow effect around his eyes. Iron Man is like Mario at this point with Legends…it’s as if he’s their unofficial mascot.

  8. I’m pretty sure BOTH of the Thanos heads are new sculpts? Obviously the angry grinning face is new, but the other looks alot more calm and straight faced vs. the happy smirking Thanos head from the BAF. Also, not sure if anyone else thinks this, but the color scheme of Thanos’s pants looks alot browner in these promo images vs. the BAF so maybe they repainted them? Overall the figure looks great. I don’t like EE’s charging of $10 for shipping on a pre-order though even though I added other figures to get over the $80 threshold. If you take that shipping cost into effect, it’s cheaper I think at BBTS or even Dorkside to get the 3 pack.

    • I’d be fine with Ebony Maw & Glaive but I’m guessing they will be part of the wave for part 2. Also, calling it, we get a Galactus BAF for the second movie. Partly because who else would it be and he did have a role in the original comic IG.

  9. I appreciate the “individual” release of Thanos for some of those unable to complete the BAF; though I wish they took this chance to instead release the rest of the Black Order since Proxima Midnight and (while BAF, sure) Cull Obsidian are already available. I do like Dr. Strange’s new headsculpt but I feel for the MCU 10 years anniversary Iron Man is already done way too much. I would pick this set up mostly for Thanos and Strange and I guess having a light up iron man is interesting but kind of wasted opportunity.

  10. I meant a 4pk in the 10th anniversary set, proxima and the rest of the order might look as good as ronin came out. More movie accurate then comic version. I mean it is supposed to take after marvels first 10yrs so they should look more along the look of the movie. Let’s face it she didn’t look that good and cull is a baf

  11. Still undecided as to whether to get this or not. For $75 or so, for 3 figs one of which is a large BAF, doesn’t seem like too bad of a deal, especially since i didn’t buy the Iron Man previously. Its just that my wallet can only take so much and Hasbro has been pretty relentless in releasing new figs this year

    • I’m gonna wait for the armored Thanos to return in the next movie. Not a fan of hobo Thanos. That’s how I’m convincing myself not to buy this set.

  12. Why not a full armoured Thanos from GotG or beginning of IW, why no nanotech accessories for Mk L?
