Though it’s going to take me several more weeks to complete my coverage of each and every new LEGO Summer 2015 set shown at New York Toy Fair 2015 over on my LEGO site, there’s just one more LEGO Marvel set to discuss here! It may be a small and cheap entry in the line, but LEGO Carnage’s SHIELD Sky Attack 76036 is going to be a blockbuster value-priced set!

All good things must come to an end, and I’ll be wrapping up the Marvel toys portion of my New York Toy Fair 2015 coverage over the next day or two. But before the end comes, there’s a few more things I want to talk about from the show. Earlier this week I posted my impressions of the nearly two-dozen Vinyl Sugar Dorbz Marvel figures, but Funko brought along a far smaller assortment of a larger and way more expensive line from the new brand as well: the Vinyl Sugar Super Deluxe Deadpool, Groot and Rocket Raccoon figures!
Continue Reading →As we counted down the days to New York Toy Fair 2015, Funko started posting mysterious teaser images for Marvel vinyls labeled as “Vinyl Sugar Dorbz”. I had a hunch regarding exactly what this new imprint was, and at the 2015 Toy Fair Funko confirmed my suspicions.
A new line of 3″ vinyl Marvel figures is coming this year–and it’s kicking off with twenty-three 3″ Vinyl Sugar Dorbz Marvel and Guardians of the Galaxy figures and two XL Dorbz!

But I underestimated Square-Enix. Not only did they have the finished Spidey on display at their booth, but also the third action figure in the lineup, Play Arts Kai Thor, and even concept art for the fourth figure: Play Arts Kai Venom!

While Funko has gotten into the plush figure business before with their Funko Fabrikations soft sculptures, I don’t recall Funko ever doing stylized, angry stuffed toys before–and certainly not Marvel ones. But there’s a first time for everything, and at New York Toy Fair 2015, we got our first look at the Funko Marvel Mopeez plush toys that are now up for order!
Continue Reading →I swear I never intended for it to happen, but I developed a genuine affinity to the kid-aimed Marvel Super Hero Mashers line of action figures last year. And while the line has been, uh, “less” warmly received by collectors than it has been by children, it’s turned out to be a solid seller at retail stores. So while Marvel Mashers aren’t the apple of every Marvel fan’s eye, the line will be continuing with plenty of new and popular characters this year. And at the New York Toy Fair 2015 over the weekend, Hasbro revealed the 2015 Marvel Mashers Carnage, Nova, Ant-Man, Rocket Raccoon and more!

Rides Deadpool Chimichanga Truck set was in the works earlier this winter, I would have written it off as a ridiculous rumor if it hadn’t come from the president of Funko himself. Even so, my mind was still having a hard time grasping the concept of this vehicle–right up until I walked into the New York Comic Con 2015 Funko booth, where I was finally able to grasp the hilarity of this new Funko Deadpool toy…
UPDATE 2/17/2015: The Funko Deadpool Chimichanga Truck is now up for order!
Continue Reading →For months, rumors have circulated about possible Marvel Legends Ant-Man figures. While it was initially unknown if the Target listing for Marvel Legends Ant-Man referred to a singular figure or an entire series, Amazon accidentally leaked the identities of the six figures that might make up the wave a few weeks ago. But after New York Toy Fair 2015, Hasbro has played all their cards, confirming the six figures we thought were coming–and a Build-A-Figure we totally did not! Coming this summer: the Marvel Legends Ant-Man Infinite Series with Ultron Prime Build-A-Figure!
Continue Reading →While they may not have made every character from each movie that they’ve appeared in, Diamond Select Toys has released all of the core movie Avengers members as Marvel Select figures at least once. All of them–except one. But no longer! The Avengers Age of Ultron Marvel Select Black Widow is coming to stores this summer, and I got to see and photograph her up-close at the Diamond Select Toys booth to kick off New York Toy Fair 2015 Day Two!
