Toy Fair 2014: Marvel Legends Nova & Cosmic Iron Man Revealed!

Score one more for the leaked computer listings! In late 2013, a huge list of 2014 Hasbro products leaked out online. The list included a full rundown of Guardians of the Galaxy toys, but we weren’t sure if it was totally accurate–until today at New York Toy Fair 2014! The Guardians of the Galaxy Marvel Legends Nova and Cosmic Iron Man figures have now been revealed!

When Hasbro previewed the five Marvel Legends Guardians of the Galaxy action figures earlier in the week and said two more figures would be shown at the NY Toy Fair 2014, my mind immediately jumped to the leaked computer listings for Iron Man and Modern Nova Marvel Legends figures.

I had been holding out hope that those leaked lists were wrong and we might actually be getting a GOTG Marvel Legends Ronan, Thanos or Yondu figure, but that’s sadly not the case.

20140215-191728.jpgOn the one hand, I’m actually really pleased with both of these figures rounding out the Hasbro Marvel Legends Guardians of the Galaxy wave.

Modern Nova in his Annihilation costume is long overdue for the Marvel Legends treatment (even if the current modern Nova is some kid now and not Rich Rider in the comics). I wish the gold paint used on his costume was a little fancier looking, but otherwise this looks like a great addition to the Marvel Legends line.

20140215-191738.jpgCosmic Iron Man is, of course, based on the Marvel NOW Iron Man armor worn during Iron Man’s brief (re: already over) tenure as a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy. It’s actually a pretty fun-looking Iron Man armor permutation, and I don’t mind having it in my collection at all (though Hasbro is insane if they shortpack Rocket Raccoon and pack Iron Man two-per-case).

20140215-192327.jpgOn the downside, Nova and Iron Man are taking up the last two slots in the movie Guardians of the Galaxy Marvel Legends wave, leaving room for exactly zero villains in the line. That’s pretty harsh! Personally, I like my movie figure lines to contain at least one villain for all the heroes to fight against, but that’s just me.

How do you like the final two Hasbro Guardians of the Galaxy Marvel Legends 6″ figures, Marvel fans? Will you be buying this pair of comic-based characters?

  1. Cosmic Iron Man is a massive disappointment and a waste of a slot that should’ve gone to an actual Marvel Cosmic character.

  2. Nova looks awesome. Another Ironman, meh. Any word yet if we’re going to need to buy all the GotG figures to build Groot?

  3. “In brightest day, in blackest night…” …WAIT-WHUT?! Er UH…hmm “GROOOOT!!!hmm” and “groot.” “Groot?” Lol

  4. Nova looks good! About time Hasbro.
Being a huge Iron Man collector i am glad to see yet another figure being released. But this one looks cheap and will be over packed… Definately a waste of my money. I would of rather seen some villians !

  5. Will I buy? Nope. Marvel fan here. But GOTG can suck one. Silly talking tree / talking raccoon / wwe wrestler who ran around cheating on his wife then blamed her because “she had cancer and wouldn’t vacuum” so it was her fault he was unfaithful = not interested.

Nova? Yep. Will buy. Maybe even Gamora since I can head swap her to make a Miss Martian. But not this campy garbage. Also, release the Jubilee wave, Rescue, Bulldozer and Moonstar if you want sales.

    • Actually nobody’s wife died because of cancer. Starlord´s mom dies because of leukemia. And Draz’ s wife was killed by Ronan. You probably didn’t even watch the whole movie. And if you didn’t that is okay, but you cannot say that kind of stuff without watching the whole thing asshole.
