Toy Fair: Spider-Man Marvel Legends 2019 Wave 2 Figures! Scorpion!

Next up for discussion from the multitude of new series of Marvel Legends figures revealed by Hasbro at New York Toy Fair 2019 is the second (of most likely two) Spider-Man Marvel Legends series for the year! Whereas the first wave of the year had everyone buying it to get the Kingpin Build-A-Figure parts, I think every individual figure for this wave will be popular when pre-orders open up later this year…

Marvel Legends Spider-Man Far From Home Legends Series NY Toy Fair

As the second Marvel Legends Spider-Man wave each year doesn’t usually hit until late summer, I wasn’t entirely sure how much of the series Hasbro was going to be willing to show off at the 2019 Toy Fair this weekend.

But Hasbro absolutely went big at NY Toy Fair, revealing 6 of the 7-8 figures in the series (and presumably all of the comic book-based ones)! Whereas the individual figures in the Kingpin Build-A-Figure series were met with a whimper, I think these five new reveals are more of a “Bang!”…

Toy Fair Marvel Legends Scorpion Figure Hasbro 2019First up, we’ve got one of the most-requested Spidey villains left that Hasbro still needed to cover: a new Scorpion Legends figure! There was a great Scorpion done in the Toybiz era, but this iteration tackles the other iconic costume for the character and gives us the metallic-paint look with mouth covered by Scorpion’s Mask.

New York Toy Fair Scorpion Marvel Legends FigureScorpion’s tail has a wire in it so that it can be posed and used to entangle Spidey. This looks great and is gonna be loads of fun! For sure the future most-demanded figure in the set.

Hydro-Man Figure Marvel Legends Toy Fair 2019Though he’s not quite as well-known as Scorpion, the first official Marvel Legends Hydro-Man will be premiering as part of the “Far From Home” wave as well (though obviously as a comic book figure).

New York Toy Fair Hasbro Spider-Man Legends Hydro-ManHasbro really got wild with the water effects piece arms for this Hydro-Man figure, and the splash effects for the feet will be removable. Awesome, fun and unique pick.

Marvel Legends Doppelganger Spider-Man FigureThe last new villain revealed is also getting his first-ever 6”’figure: Marvel Legends Doppelgänger Spider!

Toy Fair 2019 ML Spider-Man Doppelganger Spider FigureThis figure will be using the unpopular torso from the Six-Armed Spider-Man released last month, but I love this character and sculpt so much that I think I can overlook the mold’s shortcomings (particularly if it means getting a Doppelganger Spider-Man over never getting a Doppelgänger Spider-Man).

2019 Toy Fair Marvel Legends Spider-Woman Julia Carpenter FigureFinally, the one heroic comic-based figure Hasbro debuted for the wave at Toy Fair over the weekend is another first for them: a 6” Julia Carpenter Spider-Woman Marvel Legends figure (with an all-new web effects piece)!

NY Toy Fair Julia Carpenter Spider-Woman Legends Figure Close-UpWhile Julia Carpenter has fallen out of fashion in the comics somewhat over the last two decades, she was all the rage in the 90s. I love her black/dark purple costume and really dug her in the Iron Man animated series and Force Works back in the day. I don’t know how much of a huge seller this will be, but I’ll be happy to have it.

Far From Home Legends Stealth Suit Spider-Man Figure Toy FairRounding out the Toy Fair 2019 Spider-Man reveals are the two “Far From Home” Legends movie figures Hasbro was able to show at the event. They did say during their presentation that this wasn’t all for the movie, so we can still hold out hope for a movie-based Mysterio or other characters from the movie.

Toy Fair Spider-Man Far From Home Marvel Legends Upgrade Suit FigureBoth of the Marvel Legends Far From Home Figures revealed at Toy Fair 2019 are new versions of Spidey himself: one in the black Stealth Suit and one in the new red and black Upgrade Suit.

2019 New York Toy Fair Hasbro Spider-Man Marvel Legends Figures DisplayThese figures look fairly accurate based off of the limited looks we’ve had at them from various promotional materials, although neither gets my as pumped as the movie Iron Spider costume did. Hopefully these costumes grow on me more once I’ve seen them in action in the movie.

Marvel Legends 2019 Spider-Man Far From Home Reveals NY Toy FairThe Marvel Legends Spider-Man Far From Home wave of figures should be up for pre-order in a few months, as the goal would be for them to be on-shelf before the movie is in theaters this summer. I’ll post updates and pre-order links here and to the Marvel Toy News Twitter/Instagram/Facebook pages as soon as the remainder of the way is revealed and when the figures go up for PO.

For those who didn’t like the Kingpin Series, has Hasbro won you back over with what they’ve shown for the second Spider-Man Legends 2019 Wave? Are there any other characters from the movie you want to see in this series besides Mysterio, and what are you hoping gets the nod as the Build-A-Figure?

Toy Fair: Spider-Man Marvel Legends 2019 Wave 2 Figures! Scorpion! — 16 Comments

  1. That Scorpion figure is a must-buy and i’m really liking that Hydro-man figure as well. Spider-woman is a pass for me, the doppelganger will obviously have the same artic issues as Six-Arm Spidey so i’m not sure about getting him athough he does look suitably monstrous. NOt much interest in the mcu figs at the moment but sometimes seeing the movie makes me change my mind about these things. Curious as to what the BAF will be for this wave.

  2. Despite the obvious shortcomings of the Six-Armed Spidey mold, I’m still super pumped that Doppelgänger is getting a figure at all. Hope Shriek, Demogoblin, and/or Carrion are next.

Hydro Man has never been my favorite Spidey villain, but man, I always end up loving his action figures. Those water pieces are sweet.

I really like Scorpion and Julia, so I’m excited for them as well.

Really like the Noir inspired stealth suit, and the regular Far From Home costume isn’t too bad. Really liking this wave (especially if it includes a movie Mysterio).

  3. Scorpion has been my #1 most wanted figure for a while, so I’m definitely excited for him and Hydro Man. Spider-Woman and Doppelganger are meh, but I’ll end up getting them anyway. The FFH figures look good, but I’m really excited to see Mysterio. I have no clue what the BAF could be, but since there’s been no mention of it, I have to imagine it’s a FFH figure too. Maybe one of the Elementals?

  4. It’s odd they didn’t show Mysterio. I know Marvel is cagey about spoilers historically, but the trailer showing his costume has been out for weeks by this point.

    • Trailer shows ONE of his costumes. Probably not the one we’re getting a figure of.

  5. The Spider-Man legends has really done the most with getting all important figures done…. only missing spot, molten, Smyth, and madem web…
Wish X-men would get going on hellfire club and mastermind
4 Emma first and not one Shaw???
And where is warrior 3 and surter????

  6. That Scorpion figure looks shocking – what’s with the weird ab articulation? Even the color looks a different green compared to the upper body. Hydro-man is the only figure worth a shot.

Now Hasbro seem to be just re releasing the BAF’s months later as a single figure I’ll no longer be bothering to collect full waves. Thanos, Hulkbuster and now Juggernaut with extra head just shows me it’s better to wait till the wave drops in price or they just release the BAF as a finish fig. Who would ever what that latest Black Cat figure were it not for the Kingpin part???

  7. Definitely the stronger wave for single-packed figures. The water effects with Hydro Man are great. Hopefully they can be used for Iceman, Blizzard, Namor, and other characters as well.

The BAF is definitely the big question. Got to imagine MCU Mysterio will be the other figure, so maybe they’re going the same route they did with Homecoming and making the BAF an accessory for him. I hope not, though.

  8. Scorpion, Doppleganger, Hydro-man, and Julia Carpenter are all bought on sight (well, when they hit Hasbro Pulse). I’m skipping the movie figures, so hopefully the BAF is, as was guessed in the article, FFH-related. Mysterio effects pieces would be cool, I guess, especially if they’re somehow useful w/o that specific Mysterio figure.

My villain want-list is getting somewhat short – they could conceivably all appear by 2020 or 2021 (Shriek, Carrion, Demogoblin, Morlun, 616 Vulture, 90s Kaine, Hammerhead, Mr Negative, Overdrive) either via normal waves or various types of exclusives. I think I’ve given up on my hopes of a Spidercide BAF from Space Venom, finally. I’ll get the missing Symbiotes, too (Riot, Phage, Agony). Maybe my list isn’t that short . . .

Hero-wise, it does actually seem to be getting pretty thin. Firestar, certainly, would be great now that we’ve gotten one New Warrior, and there are a few Spider-verse (comic) characters I still hope to see, but I’m having a hard time seeing too many characters whose absences is felt on my shelves.

  9. Only Scorpion and Hydro-man were MUST HAVES for me. Was pretty disappointed that still… no classic Vulture, man I’m slowing losing hope we’ll get one anytime soon. Though the 80th year line goes all year. I’m still kinda bummed. Though I’ll probably pickup J. Carpenter and Doppleganger too. I don’t do movie figures so they’re a easy pass.

  10. I just don’t want another Spider-man figure. I’ve got like… five of them now. Besides that, I’m not interested in this version of the six armed Spider-man any more than I was the last one. I was so happy to not have to buy that one for the Kingpin BAF. The rest of the wave, I’m pretty happy about. Anxious to see what else they add to round it out and crossing my fingers there isn’t yet another BAF for Venom or any other symbiote. They are done and over done.

      • Eh, I hear wht Droppo’s saying though, i, too, mainly like to collect spider-man’s rogues and “allies” (Daredevil, Cloak & Dagger, etc), rather than endless spider-variants although i did like getting comic versions of the Spiderverse movie characters, and Spider-punk is one of my all-time favorites.

Mostly though i’m good with pizza spidey and a symbiote spidey fig, and don’t need House of M spidey, modern symbiote spidey etc. Not a judgement on those who like these figs and i recognize that any spidey wave is gonna have a couple. Of course it mainly annoys me when i’m getting figs i don’t really want just for the BAF parts but that’s on me (for example, i would like to to finish sp // dr but can’t bring myself to buy scarlet spider or house of m spidey …yet).

  11. For me the new Scorpion is not as good in terms of face and body as the old Spider-Man Classic figure. This one looks… unfinished and the mask seems off. But, that is just me.

    Hydro-Man is spot on!

  12. @Terry_31 does make a good point about that Scorpion’s weird ab articulation situation. I wonder why Hasbro decided to go that route? Either way he’s a must-get for me, especially considering the older Toybiz costs too damn much on Amazon an ebay. Hydro-Man’s another one I can finally check off my personal wishlist. He looks great! So glad he’s not just a re-used and repainted Sandman BAF, plus we get removable water effects? Sweet!
While I echo the sentiments of many on here about the universal disappointment regarding the 6-armed Spidey, at least we finally get a Doppelganger figure, and that’s well-worth to me overall. Skipping Julia, even though it’s a decent figure, definitely skipping the MCU figures. They usually are easy skips for me unless one REALLY wows me, other than that not a bad wave at all honestly, with more figures collectors will actually want versus not wanting like with the previous Kingpin BAF Wave. Speaking of BAFs, if Hydro-Man isn’t this wave’s BAF, I’m legit curious as to who is.
