Captain America The Winter Soldier Marvel Legends Case Ratios Analysis

There was never really any doubt that the Captain America The Winter Soldier Marvel Legends figures would be released (Hasbro is legally obligated to complete the Marvel Legends Mandroid Build-A-Figure), but it sure is nice to finally get confirmation of exactly when movie figures like Black Widow and The Winter Soldier will be joining our collections. The Marvel Legends Captain America The Winter Soldier Wave 2 figures are now up for order, and hey–the case ratios aren’t terrific, but they aren’t terrible either…

Captain America The Winter Soldier Marvel Legends Winter Soldier Figure Packaged

I had my trepidations that Hasbro was going to serve us some truly awful Captain America Marvel Legends Series 2 case ratios. Fears flew around in my head of all three 6″ Captain America Winter Soldier Marvel Legends figures being packed at one-per-case, with the rest of the case being dominated by Marvel NOW Captain America and WWII Captain America repacks.

Thankfully, that is not the situation at all.

Captain America The Winter Soldier Marvel Legends Wave 2 Figures Case RatiosThe Captain America Marvel Legends Infinite Series 2 case ratios are as follows:

(3) Marvel Legends Captain America [Captain America: The Winter Soldier]
(2) Marvel Legends Winter Soldier [Captain America: The Winter Soldier]
(1) Marvel Legends Black Widow [Captain America: The Winter Soldier]
(1) Marvel Legends Red Skull [Agents of Hydra]
(1) Marvel Legends Baron Zemo [Soldiers of AIM]

Now, there’s obviously bad news here, and it’s twofold:

1) The Movie Black Widow figure is packed at only one per case. This was inevitable, but it’s also infinitely frustrating–especially considering that the Black Widow Marvel Legends figure includes an alternate head styled after Scarlet Johansson’s Avengers look.

Captain America The Winter Soldier Marvel Legends Black Widow Figure Packaged2) The Captain America Marvel Legends army-builders figures of Hydra Soldier and AIM Trooper are both out of the mix for Infinite Series 2. This is pretty disappointing, especially considering that it appears that these figures are far more sought-after than the Red Skull and Baron Zemo Marvel Legends figures. With any luck, we’ll get a revision case later in the year that brings back the army builder figures (at least, we can hope so).

On the other hand, it’s great that the Winter Soldier and new Super-Soldier Captain America Marvel Legends figures will be 2-3 per case, which should make finding them at retail a snap. And thank you Hasbro for not repacking the WWII Cap figure that no one wants!

Captain America The Winter Soldier Marvel Legends Captain America Figure PackagedThe Captain America Winter Soldier Marvel Legends Wave 2 cases are now available for pre-order with an expected arrival of February 2014. I’m going to take my chances (and risk my sanity) hunting for the three new figures at retail, but I certainly won’t think less of anyone who decides to order Cap, Winter Soldier and Black Widow online!

What are your thoughts on Marvel Legends Captain America Infinite Series 2, Marvel collectors? Are you living in terror of hunting down Black Widow at retail, or are you mostly pleased with the reasonably good case-pack for this assortment?

  1. I really really hope that Wal-Mart decides to carry these figures, because the Targets in my area haven’t restocked these (or the Spidey Infinite MLs) since they each received their initial cases, and I really don’t want to miss out on that great Black Widow figure. Ever since Hasbro decided not to include Black Widow in their Wal-Mart exclusive Avengers series, back in 2012, my collection has felt incomplete due to her absence, lol. At one per case, I don’t like my odds of finding her if my only options are Target and Toys R Us.

  2. this sucks. since I’ve already ordered wave 1, I will be stuck with two Baron’s and 2 Red skulls if I order from BBTS?!?! I may have to go on the hunt, as well.

  3. I guess the hunt is on. Hopefully my local Target store decides to stock more of the Infinite series figures

  4. i hate the way hasbro has released these.. i’d much rather the winter soldier and the new suited captain america be in wave one.. they did the same thing with the iron man legends figures.. stores loaded up on wave 1.. couldn’t sell them because those figures weren’t even in iron man 3.. i didn’t find the 6″ mark 42 or war machine until after the iron man 3 DVD was released. that’s just insane. they LOVE rehashing old stuff first rather than giving you something that’s actually part of the movie to begin with. then.. wave 1 figures peg warm leaving no room for anything new.

i’ve seen this happen a bit with the wave 1 captain america’s.. both of them have peg warmed in my area for a while now. so who knows when wave 2 will be stocked.

they just really seem to want to sabotage themselves sometimes.

  5. I found Black Widow on my first try at a Navy Exchange…$19.99 and no tax! An amazing figure…& both head sculpts are right on target! But a couple things confuse me. She comes with an extra set of interchangeable hands, one “neutrally-posed” pair and another with “pistol grip,”…. but….her two pistols are molded into their holsters! :>|

  6. Just landed a 2nd Widow at Target, AND they are currently running a 10% off sale on all Captain America toys. So go get’em!

  7. Hasbro sucks. No Black Widows for anybody but the stock boys with ebay accounts to sell ’em for $75. Just like the Boba Fetts from their black series. Now I got all the Mandroid parts but the part that holds them all together. Looks like it will be sitting on the shelf with my headless and hipless Giganta. Hasbro sucks.

  8. I had no problem scoring Black Widow, 3 and counting. Up for grabs for right trade or $$$. Highly sought after for sure.

  9. Has anybody else seen the Winter Soldier alternate that is Iron Man/War Machine. I found it at Walmart the other day. It has a silver/dark gray paint job, has what looks like a seperate red visor, red sniper rifle, and the BAF leg. The package also says Winter Soldier, similar to how they’ve been doing it with AIM and Hydra.
