June 2014 must just be a month for Marvel miracles! First the 6″ Marvel Legends Agent Venom figure that many (including me) legitimately thought would never be released by Hasbro was confirmed (as a Walgreens exclusive, no less), and now the fabled Japanese Amazing Spider-Man 2 Movie Premiere Funko Metallic Spider-Man POP! Vinyl figures have finally appeared for sale online! But if you want one, well… you might end up paying as much for this vinyl figure as you would for a Marvel Hot Toys sixth scale figure…

When I first reported on the Japan Premiere Amazing Spider-Man 2 Metallic Spider-Man POP! Vinyl figure, I wasn’t entirely convinced that the figure actually existed at all.

While Japanese news publications and promotional materials indicated that the Funko POP Vinyls Metallic Amazing Spider-Man 2 figures were given away solely at the Japanese movie premiere of the Amazing Spider-Man 2 movie back in April, there were zero completed sales of the vinyl on ebay. And if it’s never been sold on ebay, it does not exist… right?

Thankfully (or not, for your wallet’s sake), this Amazing Spider-Man 2 Funko POP! Vinyl Metallic Version figure really does exist. The first recorded one flew under the radar and sold online last week (with me none the wiser) for $275. That’s quite a bit for a figure that would have cost about $12 if it had been sold in stores!

Supposedly, this Funko Metallic Amazing Spider-Man 2 POP Vinyls Bobble Head figure was limited to 800 pieces produced and given out at the Japanese theatrical premiere of Amazing Spider-Man 2.

A LE 800 isn’t especially small for a Funko POP! Vinyl exclusive (there are smaller run sizes than that at SDCC and NYCC each year), but with this having only been available in Japan (and the majority of the runs likely not going to collectors), this will very likely turn out to be among the most difficult-to-acquire Funko Marvel figures to ever be produced.

There are a couple of these Funko Amazing Spider-Man 2 Spider-Man Metallic Version POP Vinyls being sold online right now, so keep your eyes peeled (and your credit cards ready) if you want to snag one of these elusive figures for your collection.
