Funko Marvel Mystery Minis Orange Deadpool Exclusive!

Of all the hundreds of new products that I saw at the 2014 Toy Fair International last week, the single most enigmatic one turned out to be one of the smallest. Within a couple seconds of walking into the Funko booth, I saw a couple of orange Deadpool Mystery Minis variants on display. I asked two of the workers at the booth about this mysterious Funko orange Deadpool, but neither seemed to know the details on it. I should have kept asking, though, because on this week’s Marvelicious Toys Podcast Issue 111, they spill the goods on exactly where this orange Deadpool may be exclusive to…

Funko Mystery Minis Series 1 Orange Deadpool Variant

Deadpool is one of my very favorite Marvel characters, and orange, well–you could sell me an orange variant of just about anybody and I would buy it. So an exclusive orange Deadpool Marvel Mystery Minis variant…? Sign me up. The only trouble was, the few people I asked at the Funko booth didn’t know exactly when and where this Funko Deadpool variant was going to be released. Based on past experiences I had a hunch it would be Hot Topic, as they’re the only retailer to have exclusive Mystery Minis blind box figures in the past, but I couldn’t confirm it.

Toy Fair 2014 Funko Deadpool Mystery Minis Orange VariantThankfully, the Marvelicious Toys Podcast got a better answer than I did at the show, as they heard that the Marvel Mystery Minis Deadpool orange variant would in fact be an exclusive to stores (which may include Hot Topic or just be Hot Topic). As with past Mystery Minis variants, you will still have to blox (the shorthand term for “buy blind-boxes”) for the orange Deadpool variant–you can’t just purchase him outright.

The good news here is that, if you’re like me and do your best to stay out of Hot Topic stores, you may not necessarily have to pay a mint for this Marvel Mystery Minis Series 1 variant on the aftermarket.

Orange Deadpool Funko Mystery Minis Variant New York Toy Fair 2014Traditionally, the previously-released Mystery Minis Hot Topic exclusives have only averaged selling for $10-$20 on the aftermarket. That’s still around double or triple the original cost of a Marvel Mystery Minis blind box, but as blind box lovers know, you can quickly spend that amount or far more trying to blox the figure that you’re looking for.

What do you think about the first-ever blind-boxed Funko Marvel variant, Marvel collectors? Are you going to hunt for this elusive orange Deadpool in stores, snag him on the aftermarket, or forgo buying him altogether?
