Hot Toys Battling Captain America Civil War Movie Promo!

Plot twist!! Over the years, Hot Toys collectors have come to anticipate that the exclusive Movie Promo MMS figure released–usually one per year–will be among the fastest sell-outs and hardest to obtain figures for each Marvel movie. But for Captain America: Civil War, Hot Toys has a surprise for us–two Movie Promo figures are coming our way! The limited exclusive Hot Toys Battling Captain America and New Avengers Scarlet Witch are now up for order!

Captain America Civil War Hot Toys Movie Promo Brick Wall Terrain Figure Base

It’s taken a longer than I ever would have imagined it would, but finally Hot Toys has begun creating Marvel Movie Masterpiece Series figures of Battle-Damaged characters other than Iron Man. That’s right–your favorite superhero won’t have to look fresh from the dry cleaners anymore!

…Or at least one of them won’t, as after confirming New Avengers Scarlet Witch earlier this week, Hot Toys has now revealed their unprecedented second Captain America Civil War Movie Promo Edition figure: Captain America Battling Version!

Hot Toys Captain America Civil War Exclusive Battle Version Captain America MMSAccording to Hot Toys, the 12″ Battle Captain America figure is covered with “battle weathering effects”. I would love to say the weathering on this figure looks awesome. Unfortunately, I can’t see the battle damage on the figure in the images of Battle Cap that were posted in the announcement  very well (can you spot it, sharp-eyed readers?).

That said, Hot Toys is the king of high-end figure paint deco, so if they say the Captain America suit is going to have battle weathering, I’m sure it’s going to look great in person.

Hot Toys Civil War Movie Promo Captain America Black Panther Scratched ShieldWhat I can see, though, is the battle-damaged Captain America shield that I first spied earlier in the week in the Black Panther official photos! As soon as I saw the Black Panther-scratched Captain America shield in those photos, I knew something was up and another Cap must be on the way. Less than a week later, I’m proven right. Yay for almost instant gratification!

Civil War Movie Promo Captain America Battling Verison Hot Toys Sixth Scale FigureSince the costume battle weathering isn’t very apparent in the photos Hot Toys has posted, the die-cast metal battle-weathered shield is actually my favorite part of this figure. The scratched shield is a must for my Civil War display, so I’d be buying this figure for it even if it were the only new accessory.

Movie Promo Edition Battling Version Captain America MMSThat said, I’m delighted that this figure includes a couple one more exclusive accessory: a half-destroyed brick wall terrain figure stand base! I love it when Hot Toys gives us unique bases like this, and I definitely prefer this terrain base to the plain ol’ figure stand the regular edition of Cap comes with.

Hot Toys Battling Captain America Figure and Accessories Movie PromoIn addition to the new shield and display base, Battling Version Captain America includes the same interchangeable hands, unmasked Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) portrait and broken Crossbones mask as the regular edition of the figure.

Hot Toys Civil War Captain America Battle Version Movie Promo Exclusive FigureI have to say, though–my favorite of the official images is definitely the crazy photo where Cap is magically levitating in the air doing a dropkick, supported only by his left hand on the base. I’m skeptical the actual figure will be able to pull that particular stunt off!

Captain America Battling Version Hot Toys Figure DropkickI remember the insanity of the day that the Iron Man Mark VII Battle-Damaged Movie Promo figure went up for sale all those years ago (okay, it was three years ago), and I’m half-excited, half-mortified about another sellout in under three hours like back in the day.

Given that the Hot Toys New Avengers Scarlet Witch Movie Promo figure is a totally different version of the character from what we previously got, one would think she would sell out first.

But of course, you should never underestimate the power of a limited Captain America figure! This will definitely be an exciting pair of figures to see go up for sale (and sell out quickly).

Hot Toys Exclusive Battle Captain America Civil War Movie Promo Edition FigureThe exclusive Hot Toys Battle Captain America sixth scale figure goes up for order soon, and will only be available via Sideshow Collectibles in the United States. Marvel Movie Promo Hot Toys figures almost without fail sell out in 12 hours or less, so if you think you may want Battle Damaged Captain America (or that sweet Scarlet Witch), do not delay when these go up for order. The chances of these figures lasting long enough to be discounted in any way are extraordinarily slim.

What do you think of Hot Toys hitting us with not one, but two Civil War Movie Promo figures, Marvel collectors? Will you be picking up Battle Captain America and/or New Avengers Scarlet Witch, or is your wallet telling you no?

  1. Weak battle damage effects… nice figure though. Caps chest and pants show some light dirt/stains. His knee pads show some scuffs, thats all i really noticed.

  2. I’m sad it doesn’t have the teeth baring head. This would have made it easier to just purchase this one LOL

  3. Looking at that levitating dropkick photo, I’m thinking his left hand is on the base as said, and the rest of him is supported by the shield which has to be touching the ground. Must be balanced that way between the two points if that’s at all possible.

Either way though, I already ordered the first Civil War Captain release, so this one will just be admired from afar… I don’t need two.

  4. Hey, so, this is my first time posting, but I wanted to know Dabid’s opinion on this:
I acted late on this figure and joined the waitlist because I’m graduating medical school (massive exam next week!) and was willing to do flexpay. Since I had a feeling I wouldn’t end up with this guy, I jumped on the regular edition, paid my NRD, and did the flexpay option. However, last night I got a message saying I was approved and that they would be selling me this version! Unfortunately, I can only afford one. So, here’s the 2 problems:
    1. Waitlisted items won’t allow me to flexpay, even though now I’m approved. So, I’d have to pay in full (they haven’t charged me for my deposit yet–the email said I had until midnight Pacific time to decide). Paying in full is not great for someone in my financial situation (med school loans…I basically owe like, a house at this point).

    2. I already paid the NRD for the regular one, and if I decide to switch over, I don’t think they would transfer the deposit over. Does anyone have experience with this?

    3. I can’t decide which one I want more and which I like better overall. I enjoy the base of this figure, but I like the shiny, nice, clean shield of the regular one and swappable mouths. For what it’s worth, I will be getting the new Iron Man Mark 46 that went up yesterday for sale, so I do get a nice base, but I’m still torn.

    4. I know this is a limited edition and I’m super lucky to be approved by the waitlist, but it’s frustrating…ugh, can’t decide.

So, can anyone help? Dabid or whoever? Thanks to all, and sorry for the long post. Love this site.

    -Ben

    • Hey Ben! Go onto the Sideshow Live Chat and talk to customer support and tell them your situation. Multiple people have told me that they’ve had their regular Cap NRD refunded or transferred for Battling Cap, so they should take care of you.

Let us know how it goes!

      • Thanks for replying Dabid. They were willing to switch not just my NRD over to Battling Cap, but also my payment plan as well. However, ultimately, I chose to stick with the regular one–I just like the swappable mouths, cleaner suit, and cleaner shield more, and I’m in a situation where I can only justify getting one (especially since I’m also getting their Iron Man they revealed yesterday, and hopefully they’ll announce Spider-Man–well, hopefully he’ll get announced as SOME figure for this movie anyways…). Hopefully, the figure I had to forfeit will go to a true collector and not a scalper. Thanks again dude and for keeping us on the up-and-up with everything awesome.
